So these people want to PUBLICLY fund a bridge that links a Universal Studios hotel to a Universal Studios theme park?? I can't believe elected officials are even considering this. Sometimes I think Ron is right about political corruption in Orange County...

I'm not sure about this. 11% resort tax on 1800 new hotel rooms on top of what Universal pays already. Is it wrong for them to ask that their tax dollars be spent on something that benefits them directly? I wish we all had that ability- to tell the government how to spend what they take from us. Let's say the politicians agree to Universal's request- at least those dollars won't be going down some entitlement rat hole or funding another welfare scumbag.

People don't think globally. Universal brings a gazillion dollars worth of tax revenue into the city of Orlando every year. Unlike Disney, it is located within the city, so the city benefits enormously from its presence. In addition, this bridge is part of another larger project and will benefit the citizens of Orlando as much as it will benefit Universal. Apparently some folks don't comprehend that it is to the taxpayers' benefit to make huge companies whose presence brings in many many dollars happy. Oh, and they also EMPLOY many local people, some in very high paying jobs. Well worth the cost of the bridge, IMO.
It's gotten so politically incorrect to support large businesses that the 'local leaders' don't want to give the appearance of showing favor to Universal. It's obvious that Universal is a cash cow for Orlando, but NOOO, let's not give the Gimmedats a reason to become upset that they didn't get their piece of the pie. It's irrelevant that they did NOTHING to earn it.
