A few years ago, Colonial was listed in the top 10 deadliest roads in the US. I wonder if it's #1 yet?

nobody will ever use the crosswalk on this road. please use the crosswalk and do not be like the hobos who walk anywhere on the street. I see by the publix in vietnamtown the hobos will walk across to the "between the buns" hot dog stands and do not care to walk to the intersection but will only walk directly aross the middle of the street and it is very difficult to see these hobos.

... and yet they are eliminating bus service out there (see other article) the road is too dangerous to ride a bike on and there are no sidewalks. On the south side of Bithlo the neighborhood is cut in half so you can't avoid 50 by taking back roads. Wonder if anyone has a vehicle count history - I would guess traffic has increased 10 fold in the last 5-8 years.

If you hit and kill ANYBODY on the roads, you should lose your license for a year and have to retake the driving exam before you can get it back. Do it a second time and that should be life without the driving privilage.

Excuse me yer honor, but what about if you hit someone who jaywalks right out in front of you without giving you any time to react, and you end up killing them? Under Florida law, the driver of the motor vehicle in such a case can't be charged with anything criminal, because it was the pedestrian who was at fault. Why then should you lose your license?

i agree with you franklin..from what i have heard..the perso nwho got hit was jaywalking and ran right in fron of the car and got hit. the driver had no time to react cause it happened so quick. the driver should not be charged with anything...it was nto the drivers fault.

Another streetwalker down on Colonial. 50 more will replace this one. One day the fine residents of the area (right) will stop jaywalking and running in front of cars. Until then they are a moving target for me. Run fast basstta rds.
LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT AND RIGHT TO YA ...AH.

I know this young women and I know her family and her mother. Her mother is sitting in Critical Intensive Care at ORMC as I am writing this. HOW DARE YOU! This is a beautiful, young, vibrant lady. She is well mannered, never rude and definitely a wonderful person. She is NOT A STREET WALKER OR A STREET PERSON. You are ignorant and definitely crude, I must say I need to go throw up now. You have managed to upset all that know her.

The next time you want to write some senseless stupid crap about a person - why don't you write about yourself or better yet one of your family members.....see how you like it then, jerk!

First of all, HOBOS is such an ignorant term. It is no longer used in case you did not know, however, you need to come out of the cave before you would know that. Second of all, you have no idea what this young lady was doing or not doing - all you know is that she was trying to cross the street. You need to read my other posts to the other ignoramouses and put yourself in her mother's shoes. Next time, think before you speak and post about someone you have no idea of. You exhibited rude, classless behavior. So did the others that had nothing nice to say. What I find ironic is how deft the majoriity of these nasty posters are.

Now I will post my opinion ... It is a sad day for this family and friends of Jessica. We all sincerely hope that she will recover from this and have a chance at living a long, healthy, happy life without any long term injuries or suffering due to being hit by this car. My thoughts and prayers go to her mother and the rest of her family. We are all here for you and will be in Orlando tomorrow to see you. I will pray that Jessica will be alright. God Bless all of you! Hang in there.

Another stupid, thoughtless comment. This girl is hanging onto life by a thread. You know nothing of her, her family or her friends. I suggest the next time you post something so ignorant or even think that you want to, think about your family members and think HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF IT WERE YOUR MOTHER OR YOUR KID that someone senselessly posted about.
I was wondering what bleeding heart liberal would open his yap and spew the sH!-t. Don't worry, you will get yours. God will give the people what they asked for.

It wasn't a hit and run. The driver and the type of car that hit her are listed in the article.
