Wow, what a bunch of bigggots. This writer isn't interested in renaming 17-92 for God's sakes. He simply wants to correct a wrong and Division reminds one of the 1950s when black people were still being treated like sub-humans by Southern whites (almost 100 years after the civil war). Wouldn't it be a good thing to bury those memories?
I think his idea of honoring Nap Ford is excellent albeit he was a politician. It sounds as if he was revered by his community so why not rename a street whose name has ugly memories. What would you prefer, George Wallace highway?
It always a plus to tidy up white people's dirty tracks. Go for it.
Why don't they just call it Negro Blvd. That way white people will know where not to go. I am sure everyone has noticed any Blvd called MLK is not a safe place for whites to travel. Segragtion beats diversity any day.

Good Lord people all the liberals and blacks want to do is get rid of white history. To be honest they want to get rid of all whites. 14% of Americas population and all they do is cause trouble. Good God people wake up and take back our country.

According the PrunieCat, etc, ONLY white folks are racist. I guess she's never heard Sharpton, Jackson, or rap music. Or the Black college professors call for the exinction of the white race.
Jonathon, when SOME blacks say that only whites can be racists, they GENERALLY mean that because whites are often in position of power, their racist views (if they hold any) can keep people from being hired or buying a home or getting a loan, etc.

All you have to do is name a NEW street,if you want to "honor" him, or just rename one of the 11,000 Martin Luther King streets that are all over the USA.

Why don't we rename it 'Lou Perlman Blvd'. That way blacks and whites can both hate it.

Now that would be equality.

Is this your version of redneck dialect? That's really unfair to poor whites. They can't help their living conditions and lack of access to higher education. Try being more sensitive. Rednecks need love too.

If the Orange county commissioners, or whoomever governs this decission follow the Lake county commisioners, they could care less what the residents or busineses along Division street think. Lake county commissioners heard only one voice, that of a very small group of Blacks and the Democrat party. They ignored a majority of the residents and all of the business owners on Willis V. McCall road and changed the signs anyway. Logic and what is right take a back seat to political correctness, especially if a back room deal can be made for future votes.

I don't like street names that obviously divide us by race or other interests. It wasn't smart of the people who first put a name to it. But I don't think changing Division to Nap Ford Blvd. is making things any better.

Are there no white/hispanic/Asian, etc. businesses or residences on that street? If it has to be changed, leave race and politicians and activists out of the mix. But I'd prefer Nap Ford over Daisy Lynum if it must be named for a black politician.

Oh... I get it now. You're just a poor speller. How sad for you. By the way, I'm very flattered that you would want to pretend to be me, but messages from the real Jess indicate that I am a member -- that's why the signature is on a green background -- and it shows the number of messages I've filed. Nice try though.

If the Otange county powers take the lead of the Lake county commissioners the Division St name will come down. Lake commissioners ignored the opinion of a majority of the residents living on Willis McCall road, and ignored all of the business on the road when they took down that name. Pandering to Black and Democrat votes over ruled the will of the people. Two faced officials, political corectness and left wing liberals are ruining what's left of this Country.
