..whatever happened to "Reckless Endangerment" charges as well. I say throw EVERTHING you can at them, DUI's, then let the Courts and a Jury figure out what they go to JAIL for.

There is such a charge as DUI manslaughter. I imagine the prosecutors will be reviewing the case and evaluating the proper charges to be brought.
What a waste. It seems always to be the innocent who are the victims of the drunks. This little boy had no say in his fate.

I agree with you. It seems the innocents are always the ones who pay..

You're right. It didn't have to happen. Kill yourself all you want but for crying out loud protect the children.

This story is so sad,(no matter what their names are!) This aunt killed her nephew, and will most likely get jail time.(well deserved in my opinion) However, no matter how long she may serve, she will have to live with the guilt and anguish of killing her precious little nephew for the rest of her life. As will her entire family. That is just sad.

I have in the past worked in a law office that represented court appointment clients. You would be amazed at how many people are driving on a suspended license out there. Also, more amazing is how many DUI's are issued every day. And guess what folks? Your tax dollars are paying to represent these people. It's a shame she had to take a little child with her who has lost his life because she could not be a responsible adult. He may have lived if he had only been in a proper restraint. Seat belts and child restraints do save lives.

I agree it is sad, this little boy had his whole life in front of him, his Aunt killed him, oh she will go to jail, she will get out and have a chance to have life with her son. I think that if you kill someone in a DUI traffic accident you get out of prison in a pine box in unmarked hole in the county prison yard.

This is sad on so many levels.. I decided just over the weekend to call the police and report drivers that have kids in their car w/o car seats. I was in Target parking lot and we saw a young woman take a child from her cart and place it in her car. It wasn't til after she pulled out and left that we realized the child wasn't in a child restraint. I kicked myself for not noticing it sooner.
I hope the police will respond to that complaint when I call though.

... And I hope whenever someone sees you doing something inappropriate, that they, too, contact the Police. Some people are so obsessed with getting someone else into trouble that they fail to address the inequities in their own back yard!

I would expect nothing less if I were doing something illegal. Inappropriate is a whole different matter.
So basically you think it's nobody else's business when an adult places a child at risk? Or is a danger to others?
It's a little more than inappropriate to put a 2 yo in a car w/o a car seat... doncha think? I believe car seats are almost given away if you can't afford them.

I will always call and report anytime I see a child being misrepresented by an adult. I have reported pot smoking with windows up on the car and child in car seat! I will always help children no matter who's toes I am stepping on.

i cant say i know how they feel becouse i never lost a child befor. but i feel for the father and the mother but more for the father and his mother who had him most of the time it is a sad time for the whole family but one thing for sure his aunt love her nephew just as mush as she love her own child. she will hurt the rest of her life for that and she is doing jail time not what she should have gotten but she is doing time. the child is in heaven with God and his Angels resting in peace. so my prays goes out to the whole family. And may God keep them all and bless them all.The child will never be for gotten and the father will always love him. God Bless. TDS.
