The kid was being a complete obnoxious jerk, not satisfied with an equal time at the open mike to ask his question, he wanted to hog the entire presentation. When told to leave he rushed up again and started again and the cops came in and tried to get him to leave peacefully but he kept pulling his arms away and shouting and resisting. You are NOT legally allowed to refuse to follow an order from a police officer. It has nothing to do with your First Amendment Rights. They handled the situation exactly correctly and I think the U of F should send his A-$-$ home for the semester and let him think about acting like a civilized person before he is allowed back on campus. If anyone thinks that the police are at fault they are N U T S.

The cops are so stupid...they accuse him of starting a riot, when in fact this guy clearly was supporting Kerry in his questioning?

He was acting like a twerp, but all they needed to do was escort him out.

George Bush is absolutely no different than Saddam Hussein. He is just more of a hypocrite for hiding behind "government" to do his dirty work, where Saddam did his openly.

George Bush should be tried for war crimes and his sentence should be carried out just like Saddam's.

Oh wait, the police have just arrived, I am tryint to type quikly.........

Read the Bill of Rights - again and with help on the Big Words.

The First Amendment Grants "the Right to Peaceably Assemble".

Nowhere does it grant the Right to walk up to any group of People and Rule them with Your own Agenda.

For that You need to go to "Mein Kampf" --- Which you are probably more comfortable with.

No, he should be JAILED because he resisted arrest. He should be EXPELLED for all the rest of his antics, and I seriously hope UF is considering this step. This moron put a lot of people at risk, had his antics caused others to riot. Fortunately, it appears that the rest of the audience was just as annoyed with the jerk and therefore sat there and let it be dealt with.

If you want to play the game (being a nuisance for nuisance/amusement sake), then you have to be prepared to pay the piper. I hope corporate recruiters are getting a good look at this future "candidate".

So because he went passed his time he should be jailed?
And what is with all the retards referring to ucf and water when this was at uf?
There was a bit of excessive force here, I for one do believe the officers were in the wrong here putting their hands on him and trying to move him.
Am I the only one who thinks that he was well with in his rights to ask what he had done and try to remove himself from their grips?

You have the right to free speech until it infringes on MY right to free speech...which basically was when this kid took more time than alotted. The reason they have that time limit is so that everyone has a fair shot at being heard. Go be a blowhard somewhere else.

Further, this kid is just a petty practical joker trying to emulate Ashton Kutcher and his "punk'd" show. He is doing a disservice to all of us, and he's degrading my UF degree. I hope they kick him out of school.

So we have freedom of speech...as long as we're quiet? As long as we do it in a time limit? We have a right to question our elected leader...as long as we don't shout the questions? As long as you don't go over out rime limit? As for the so called time limit....how much time was he given? Or was it , in fact, that the questions that he was asking making other people uncomfortable? That's why he was cut off!! Kerry was more than willing to answer his questions. But because someone else was uncomfortable with the questions he was asking the guy gets cut off. He knew this. That's why he was upset. And then they try to detain him... for what? What did he do? To all those who think this guy was wrong... shame on you. Think about what you really saw in that video. What it over and over again. Set aside your personal political feeling and look at the bigger picture.

This is complete bullshit.
Yes, this kid was being disrespectful. But that does not give anyone the right to tase him. He was speaking his mind.
what pisses me off is that we praise our government for removing Sadaam because of his totalitarianism, yet we employ watered-down versions of his tactics.
Hurting, arresting, stoping ANYONE for speaking their mind is a violation of the constitution. Shit like this HAS to be stopped. It is a slippery-slope and we cannot allow this to happen anymore. You cannot allow the governement to jurisdict what you can and cannot say.
I dont care if you are a liberal, moderate, or conservative. you have the right to speak your mind. dont let anyone tell you differently.

Do you know what reading comprehension is? They did not Taser him for asking his question. They Tasered him for being disorderly and resisting arrest AFTER they asked him to leave the mic/room AFTER he had received his alotted time to ask his question. There are rules when attending events like that....you get a certain time to ask your question, and then like a NORMAL RESPECTFUL person you shut up and listen to the answer. This kid is a joker just trying to make a name for himself and get on TV. Sadly, now the media are making it out to be far bigger a deal than it really was. Kick Meyer out of UF! He's a disgrace to the rest of us UF alums.

There are 2 separate video's. Have you all seen the long version, and the article that explains that this person has done 3 other jacka$$ stunts and filmed them???? It was a set up by this guy the whole time. He was obnoxious and disruptive to the point people were walking out. He went on and on and on. He started wigging out, and put himself in this predicament. He must have told the police to get off him 15 times. Wrong choice of words. He finally told them to get the F... off him about 15 seconds before getting tazed.
I am not a cop lover in the least, and this is not about freedom of speech or politics or even about the cops.
This kid has duped everyone, and this was one his stunts that came up and bit him in the chest.
Did anyone see the video of the guy who parked his car at 2:00 at a parking lot known for car theft? He was obviously setting the cop up and incited him into a rage as well.
Stupid little boys.
You never watch "Cops" on Fox? these guys are trained to take nothing from anyone. Wish we could train the Iraqi police to do the same thing so we can leave.

The guy was obnoxious. It seemed he was being escorted out of the building and began resisting and running his mouth. He was warned several times and kept going on. The cops were right to taser the punk.

You probably voted for Sen. Kerry,

Now there is an outstanding alternative. He disgraced himself for personal gain by throwing his metals away, IN PROTEST, then wanted to be the COC of the military force that he disowned.

first of all...i was commenting on the person that said the police should have tasered him out of view of the public.
Secondly you admit that the police could have handled it better...thanks for making my argument for me.
And if the police would have done absolutely nothing, brokered no intrusion...had remained so calm you would have thought they were all on heroin and let the student talk to his heart's content...even when repeatedly asked to stand down...then what?

I bet if it was you and your friends watching a movie, you'd paid money to see and some guy stood up and started reciting every piece of literature he could muster...you'd be cool with it? They don't need to be asked to leave the theater? They don't need to be escorted out? And if asked to please desist...to absolutely, under no circumstances should the police called in, help him leave?

Riiigggghhhtttttttt...you'd be demanding your money back faster than draft beer exits your backside the next morning. Paaaallleease.

This is sooooooo the "entitled" mentality. "I shall do as I want, when I want and where I want...regardless of decorum, person or place. You will not touch me while I do so. You will not interupt me under any circumstance. What the majority want or what is deemed appropriate does not apply. When I decide I'm done...I may or may not entertain your questions of rudeness or blatant ignoring of requests. The venue or place shall bow to my singular want."

Did you even watch the video? How did you come away with the opinion you have?
