Floridians just don't like the idea of looking trashy like the Northeastern corridor looks.

What is wrong with that ?

New Jersey is sophisticated? That's not quite a believable statement, Mr. Soprano.

The North stomped all over your Confederate butts the last time you all refused to adapt to change and evolve into a more sophisticated society. Some of the ideas posted by locals seem to indicate that not only would you prefer the North to go away, but you would just as soon turn back the clock to a time where slavery existed. Change is inevitable- if you resist it, you will fade away, just like this town.
Did you turn beet red and shake your first when you wrote that? I cannot speak for everyone else, but yes, I would completely prefer the North to go back where they came from. We wouldn't have the crime, the SUVs, the outrageous housing costs, congested roads and completely rude and obnoxious people poisoning our streets.
Comparing not wanting all the above with going back to slavery is lame, at best. The truth is the massive influx from NY and NJ changed the landscape in such a bad way that it will never be able to be fixed.

Here's what happens when a small town starts to develop. Northerner's come in and then think that they should be on the city council. Since most northerner's are corrupt and or mafia to begin with they start to infiltrate all of government and before you know it, a sleepy southern citrus town is run by a bunch of carpetbagging northerners who allow more development for other northerners.

Just like I have always said. They messed up their area and now they come down and mess up ours. Florida used to be a great place to live, too bad the secret got out. All I can say is thanks for ruining a wonderful place.

Change is every where even in the North. It is called Urban Sprawl. I remember growing up in a small town where I used to craw under the fence and chase the cows. I remember going horseback riding all of the time as a kid. I remember taking my fishing pole and going fishing under the willow tree by the river.

The open fields where I did this are now subdivisions after subdivisions. It has nothing to do with people moving. It has more to do with the growth of the general population nationwide.

Wow--you are really nasty. I am also a 5th generation Floridian who has a Master's Degree, have lived in Europe, am bi-lingual (trust me, Spanish is NOT one of the languages), am an army veteran, and, a public educator. So, you think all natives are hicks? You sound like an ignorant fool; the kind of people who seem to be coming here in droves lately.

When I was 4 years old, Dad called yankees "***h***s. I am now near 60, and we still have them, along with every other idiot moving to Florida. All I hear is how good it is back home. Well if it is so good go back to it. Frostproof is great without developers and new subdivisions. My family has been here for over ninety years.

Save Frostproof from extinction. Send all the 1WP people in Winter Park who are whining abour redevelopment to a place that never changes. Heidrich, Dillaha, Colado, Grammar, Strong, Cooper... time to pack up. Your nirvana is just down the road!
