You know it is very hard for me to hear soo many people talk s*** about Palma Nova...but honestly unless you live there you have no idea what goes on there...and honestly you should not judge others for there lifestyles...most of the people are doing the best they can with the hand they were dealt....I was fortunate enough to get to work with many of the elementry kids in Palma Nova for a few months...and ALL of these kids have great hearts...Is it really so great that this place is closing...Now so many families, including the kid!, have no place to go. I think that everyone should ban together and try to help or sorrounding communities...instead of wanting them destroyed simply for the reason that not everyone can live like you.
Ya know I scrolled up and read the first five sentences and went NUTS...I am not oblivious to the hand that was dealt to anyone...and before this economy is over alot of us will be dealt a hand we never saw coming..I get that...what I dont get is the fact that every pedophile released from prison moved into your trailer park and set up house, with not a word from the residents..not a protest, not an inquirey, not crap..I live 5 blocks over and I WAS THE ONE WHO CLEANED THESE GUYS OUT, becuase none of the residents ever took the time to crawl out of their budwieser to do it...so dont hand me the HAND you were DEALT crap..you never once made noise about a perv who had a molestation history to choke a horse and be DEALT the death penalty to boot...who did it...I did...over 20 years of cleaning up your space because the residents were too down trodden to do it...well ya know what? I started to see a pattern in that park...I went in their on my own dime a thousand times and handed out flyers of guys who were in violation and ya know what I got? UHHHHH I didnt know that???? Your old ladies didnt work they had computers, not one of them made enough noise to clean up your own backyard and played stupid when I told them who was living two lots down...With the ciggarette hanging out of their mouths, obviously too much doritos and beer around the mid section...I knew this park was a lost cause..and when you started welcoming the illegals who stole everything that wansnt nailed down...c'mon let me tell you about a hand that is dealt...you people sh*t where you ate and didnt care..Palma Nova aka Silver Oaks, was every cliche' about a rundown trailer park that was ever written..good fricken riddance...

Lets get something straight ...dont go playing the kids card...you didnt give a damn about kids playing in the front yards of convicted sex offenders...and I dont mean guys who got caught with their underage girlfriends...I am talking true pedophiles...when I went thru there...I documented and photographed kids playing with pedos...I am the one who called the cops and got them violated...not one person from that park ever made noise about this problem....so dont where ever the KIDS end up has to be better than Palma Nova...and no thanks to the parents I might add...

As a neighbor of this park for over 30 years...

I broke out the champagne when this park was closed...I have written Howard Forman, his daughters and his company for years begging him to close this park..there is no place to go but "up" after this place is done...

Its amazing to drive by there ...the few hold outs are living among a trash heap...any and everything people didnt want or couldnt take is piled high and growing..

These people havent paid lot rent in months and months ..I cant imagine the mentality of holding out in there at this point on the wing and a prayer of getting a few extra bucks to finally move..

the rats have already taken over, mattresses piled high, garbage everywhere...at this point everyone in there has the money to move due to the fact they havent paid since this thing began and yet they are still living in this crap.

You really need to do your homework...if anyone in Davie depleted the amount of sex offenders it was me..I sure didnt see you standing up at commission meetings insisting the city enforce the laws on the books..and I didnt see you there pushing for the Landlord act. I did more for your kids when it comes to this issue than you did...dont even go there with me..and we are about to get rid of six more Thank you very much
People like you are all right when they are clustered in somebody else's back yard with somebody else's children right? Putz.

I think that closing Palma Nova was the worst thing they ever did because they left more than 900 families without money or where to go. Its really sad that nobody cared what the residents had to say and just closed the park up!!!

The economy is a disaster with all the underwater mortgages and foreclosures. Maybe each of you who criticize mobile home parks and the people who live in them may soon be living in one. What will happen when you can't afford to live anywhere else, after losing your jobs and homes?

I lived in Silver Oaks in Davie in the early to mid 80'swith my 3 kids and husband and it was awesome and beautiful, I had a 3 bd 2 bath mobil home fenced in yard and the greatest neighbors. The lot rent was only $165.00 per month, extremely affordable to live in and we had good jobs and a college degree. There were BBQs almost every weekend, music, parties, playgrounds and the lawns were cut and green with beautiful landscaping and a spotless pool. We were not low life people and made it well in life, so let others have a chance and donít judge, because you do not know what tomorrow will bring you!

Antonia - I also lived there when it was called University Mobile Home Park, from 1971-1974. And yes, there were lovely pools (2), a sense of community & all took pride in their yards. A group of us got together, formed a small vol fire company & even bought a used fire pumper truck to give any trailer a chance before the Davie FD could get on the scene.(my hubby saved a trapped woman and dog once). Anyway, those days are long gone. I moved back to CT decades ago but did return in 2006 & was horrified at the condition. And it was scary to drive thru. Not the same park at all. I'm sorry to agree that it's probably best that it's gone now as it was truly beyond the pale. No pride of ownership. It was a shock as I knew it when....

I worked in the park in the early 80's It was OK then? My friend's family moved from Michigan {Jim McWilliams} to Davie in the 60"s when it was just a small Horse town, He built most of park. Just like all things"Man makes, nothing lasts forever" R.I.P. Silver Oaks

Those developers or INS would be welcome to look at the parks at 130/SR 84.
