I am a retired senior female (who works three days/week). My 3/2 condo in Plantation has been on the market for sale, but due to today's real estate market (nothing is selling), I have decided to take my condo off the market, and would like to share my condo with another qualified senior female (who is financial able to share expenses; able to care for herself; and, is a clean person). This would be a way to help each other out. If interested and would like to discuss this further, please let me know how I can contact you.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!!!! I have a mobile home for sale in Rexmere Village. 2/2 about 1100 sq ft, carport, fenced backyard, washer/dryer.......$12000 OBO. If seriously interested, let me know. Offer only extended to those people being displaced by Silver Oaks/Palma Nova closing. I will not hold the loan, you must get one on your own. Credit and background check required by park office.

Yesterday's paper confirmed that the park will close as planned. For some of you bashing the Mayor? He was the one that was trying to get the residents more time..I didnt agree, but for those of you insinuating he is crooked and uncaring, Mayor Truex did go to the wall for the residents of Palma Nova.
you say the mayor went to the wall? were you there when he told all the residents that forman had no intentions of closing palmanova for at least another 20 years and then 6 weeks later sent out eviction notices? I thought not.

Its makes me very sad to hear about another park getting closed, either it’s a good one or bad. Let’s think about this, we now have almost 900 families which equal about 2500 man, women & child being told they might have less than 6 months to move.
The residents cannot sell there mobile homes, they most likely cannot move there homes due to the age factor of more than 10 years old. No park will accept them and they have no place to go. Like it or not, a home is a home is a home, monthly mortgage does not know if you live in a brick & motor home or a mobile home.
What about the residents who less than a year ago purchased their home in Palma Nova? Is Mr. Forman planning to buy the homes back because maybe it was a secrete?
Were the residents lied to by the management company who are trained to say,“This park is not closing”, or Caletka in a Town Council Meeting told a crowd of over 150 residents,“I speak with Mr. Forman just about every week and he tells me he is not closing his park for the next 25 years”. Is this the same Mr. Forman that perhaps been raising money for Caletka failed run for County Commissioner. If Caletka lied to his district residents about the conversation/truth just imagine him lying to all the residents of Broward County!!!
So my fellow residents like it or not, it’s not a crime to be poor, it is not a crime for those living in mobile homes trying each day to put food on their family plates, clothes on their back and a roof over their heads (once again brick & motor or mobile home) so in our time of need lets practice some humanity and extend a helping hand to our friends and neighbors in Palma Nova.

Right on!!! We are in the same position...
You know what I wish I could do something to help you and your family. One thing I can say is that the holidays are right around the corner and I don't want your kids to suffer so if you have an email address or something maybe we can meet at a police station so I can give you and any other family somethings I'm blessed to share with you. By the way I'm a college student and I'm currently doing a research paper about what's happening in your community! Anyways good luck and PRAY

Trailer was being towed out the other day. The entire side of it collasped on the roadway. I felt sorry for the people who paid to have it moved...these structures are unsafe...somethings are better left to the bull dozers.

yes... you are right... it's way to late to help any one... right now...
the simple fact is all the residents were screwed. i don't feel i can solve any one's problems. i want to try to contribute to bring light on the subject. this man should not be able to dismiss what happened. the residents of this community are not disposable. a 25+ year old community to be uprooted in a matter of months is terrible to watch....
as a matter of fact i have been going inside of the park the minute i got word of what was happening..... way way way to late to ACTUALLY do anything about it. it's a done deal between a profit driven man and the elected persons he paid to office. i just don't want it to go un-noticed.
im there every saturday documenting the situation... if you live there and would like to contribute or know any one who can share their story it would be welcomed...
you will see me in the neighborhood... i stick out .
i saw a few houses that they tried to move and they just crumbled... it's very upsetting.
yes my estimates are there are barely 300 families left in the park of a community of 900.
i love when you drive into the park the sales office still has the "new beginings" poster up... its absurd.
when i wrote the inital first comment i had not been in the park yet and was all fired up... after going in i accept the defeat... but we can still spit in his eye.

You know it is very hard for me to hear soo many people talk s*** about Palma Nova...but honestly unless you live there you have no idea what goes on there...and honestly you should not judge others for there lifestyles...most of the people are doing the best they can with the hand they were dealt....I was fortunate enough to get to work with many of the elementry kids in Palma Nova for a few months...and ALL of these kids have great hearts...Is it really so great that this place is closing...Now so many families, including the kid!, have no place to go. I think that everyone should ban together and try to help or sorrounding communities...instead of wanting them destroyed simply for the reason that not everyone can live like you.

Why don't you ask the owner, Austin Forman, why he would not allow the Davie Police Dept to patrol inside the complex. How come the police were only allowed to respond when someone made a call.
Many questions go unanswered about that park and the owner of the park. Many very interesting questions.
Since hurricane Wilma slumlord Austin Forman has been planning to close the park. First he changed the rules from Broward County regarding mobile homes in 2007. He has to get the property re-zoned and Davie and Broward county knew this for the last 2 years.
Forman had to pay the Davie police money to patrol the park and stopping doing this in 2007 because the park was targeted to close. Also, Park City west will close in 2010.
Everglades MHP will close in a few years because they are in Zone 1 in the Town of Davie and Zone 1 has been re-zoned. I hear a hotel will be built on that location.
I used to live in Palma Nova until I moved in Oct 2008
