"And really who cares about which commissioner did what, who gets credit for what, who gets blame for what." That's the language of a weak argument.

God Bless Doug Guetzloe.
This man has given his life to helping stop unnecessary tax increases and subjected himself to the ceaseless attacks of this rag of a newspaper and a politically motivated states attorney who hates Guetzloe and the the causes he advocates.
We need to salute and cherish him as a tireless advocate for taxpayers and free speech.
Doug continues to lead the opposition to commuter rail and the boondoggles in downtown Orlando.
Those that have been critical couldn't walk a foot in this man's shoes.

Guetzloe may be against the proposed CFCR but he is in no way leading the charge. Guys like Doug are a dime a dozen, my own county has three of these so called "tax liberators" with radio shows and a half dozen more with "little newspaper columns," between them all about 60 votes ride one way or the other.

CFCR is not right for the region, there are one billion reasons to kill this thing, Guetzloe and his merry band of idiots stand in the way with some foolish brand of opposition that confuses "ordinary" voters.

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

I agree. Any sentence with the word "Geutzloe" and "leader" glares a red flag ad clearly indicates falsehood! His continued attempt to grab attention and try to take credit for citizens' activism on local issues is growing old.

He gladly accepted $100k from Keen, mailed an illegal mailer about Strong (during Kit's campaign), took more money from Gaylord and the Magic. He's a thug and the underbelly of Central Florida politics as I said earlier.

I have more respect for the rats in my yard than I do him. At least the rats don't pretend they are a savior and beneficial to mankind!!

As always, a grain of truth mixed with a bushel of misstatements. The money from the Expressway Authority was not a personal donation-Strike #1, The mailer was his own to discredit Ms. Pepper-Strike #2. Underbelly of politics in C. Your nonsense belies the fact that he has led every successful tax protest in the past 25 years save one.
It was Doug who was out front on all of these tax battles and time and time again the voters of Central Florida have rallied to his side against seemingly unsurrmountable odds.
During the last battle, against Crotty's Mobility 2020 - which included commuter rail - Guetzloe was the only one leading the opposition and again won with 54% of the vote.
The folks he has opposed in Winter Park have lost, including the last two election cycles.
I beg to differ with your conclusions - the facts show it the other way.

Oh how we twist the truth to clean up one's own reputation!! Not even deserving of a rebuff.

BTW, Kit's campaign for Marchman is the only race in WP Guetzloe was ever involved in and guess what, the candidate LOST!!

Easily unproven statements seem to abound from so many of my neighbors who would like to rewrite history.
Mr. Guetzloe was not involved in Mr. Marchman's campaign and there is no evidence to suggest such.
Mr. Guetzloe has sent out flyers - clearly marked with the proper disclaimer - in the last two elections that have contributed significantly to the victories of at least two city commission candidates.
I received at least three flyers during the past two election cycles.
I agreed with Mr. Guetzloe's assessment and voted accordingly.
I also visited - and had quite a chuckle - the Pepper911.com site that was set up last year.
Many of my neighbors did also.
After checking with our city clerk - Cindy - Mr. Guetzloe has filed a report - as required by law - of his expenditures.
Very legal and very effective.
It is humorous to watch the various partisans on this blog and the Farmers market try to distance themselves publicly and then quietly praise this man who has this passion for public policy issues and has helped Winter Park become a better place.
I occasionally listen to his radio show at 1190 AM and find myself agreeing most of the time.
If one simply checks the public records available you can determine a great deal about what is really going on behind the scenes.

I guess short of the facts you can make it up as you go along.
There is no evidence Doug took any money from Keen or that he even knows or supports Keen.
The "illegal" flyer was a police report. It wasn't Guetzloe's work - he admitted paying for it and sending it out - but it was a WP police report - that was a public service.
He's a consultant - something wrong with working for the Gaylord? He's worked with Rosen too - something wrong with that?
He is anything but a "thug." He's passionate about many issues, including his longstanding opposition to the rail deal and he's right. He's been against this boondoggle for ten years - long before anyone is our city even knew what was going on.
Your postings have so much BS in them - you should take your misrepresentations somewhere else - oh, I almost forgot - this is the Slantinel - you're right at home.

Surely Doug is a little more careful about where he leaves his payoff records now, but it would be very interesting to see where his money came from in the last two WP elections. He's gone from trying to derail Strong's campaign (just out of the goodness of his heart - nobody paid him, he says, although there is that financial tie to the Exp. Auth and Alan Keen) to trying to derail Pepper's campaign twice, through the mail, on his radio show, and teamed up w/ his good buddy Mallen. Pepper, who disagrees strongly with Strong (Strong's policies will lead us right thru the urban meadow & down the rose garden to higher taxes)... Doug doesn't live in WP and I challenge anybody to see a pattern in his involvement in WP elections. The only pattern is intricate under the table payoffs and associations. Kind of like taking Expressway Auth bucs and then strangly going silent on their antics, or inserting himself in sleazy Daytona elections and strip club owners... follow the money. Yeah, I listen to the radio show from time to time, and who could argue with a stated message of cutting taxes, but who, knowing his strange history, can believe he is not, above all else, for sale to the highest bidder? The stated message is a front for a shakedown business.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a consultant. Wasn't it $250 thou for a 2 paragraph report for the Expr. Auth? Sweet gig, and all Doug had to do, beyond the 2 paragraph consultant's report, was to keep quiet. Prior to that he was their fierce ciritic. Coincidence?

As to the police report, which I agree was a public service, he remained in the shadows and let Strong's opposition be implicated (who in the world would think a non resident like Doug would take the time and expense to derail a small town Mayor's campaign?). PS: It backfired. He remained anonymous until well after the election, until evidence proved it was him. If it was such a damn noble gesture on his part, which he likes to compare to the anonymous writings of our FOUNDING FATHERS, why not take the credit? He is never shy about taking credit for stopping boondoggles.

Guess what? You're wrong! Guetzloe was involved in the last 3 elections in WP.
Where's the twisting of truth? I think you and the poster are clearly on the same page regarding Guetzloe's motives, so it must be the mention of One Winter Park that got you riled. Don't worry, OneWP doesn't even exist anynmore! That's what the founding members kept repeating throughout the last election. They are every bit as sincere and out in the open as Doug.

Found in the Dictionary: "A sore loser is someone who loses in a fair competition and whines about it constantly blaming everyone around them (Guetzloe, 1WP, opponents) for their loss except themselves. They enjoy taunting but are no fun to play with...."

I suggest you do some soul searching and realize that the 2 candidates who lost the race, did so on their own, fair and square. This ongoing bitter behavior after the elections from anonymous bloggers including a website has proven that we elected the right people for the WP Commission. They are most deserving and qualified as our City Commissioners.

PS. For the person who claimed Guetzloe legally sent out the Mallen/Ax the Tax flyer during the last election criticizing Kit (and rightly so after she ran that smear campaign), I did check the city website and found that Mr. Guetzloe never filed the proper paperwork (PAC)with the city of WP. Yet another election law violation, so the proper authorities need to be contacted Monday morning.(Thanks for bringing that to our attention.)

PPS. F-I-N-A-L-L-Y. Wasn't this article about commuter rail

If you want to call sending a flyer for Mallen, "involvement" I guess you're right. Many were disgusted at that last ditch interference and I suspected it was Kit playing the victim card - she knew first hand how well that works. Classy.

A Commissioner when asked recently if she/he knew Guetzloe, laughed and said he/she wouldn't know who he was if he walked up and shook his/her hand. I'm betting that is true for everyone on the dais.

To give Guetzloe credit for any WP elections is a joke, but it sure seems easier for some than looking in the mirror.

Again, it's truly disappointing your bitter resentment over 1WP.

Back to commuter rail....

Yes, it was. Check my 1st 2 posts. Very supportive of current commissioners. Then check your 1st. You start with innuendo, slurs and lies against Metcalf, Eckbert and Mica. Do you ever have any proof of their illegal acts? Payoffs to Mica? Proof, please. Character assassination is the 1st refuge of ONEWP. Positive commentary from me. Negative from you.

Super! While you are there why don't you report the mayor and his 11th hour Open Letter to the Citizens of WP, sent out by an unregistered PAC called Winter Park Citizens for Good Government, a name sounding strikingly like a long time registered and respected group, and containing a bogus address? Kill 2 birds with one stone.
