Toddler abused, mother and boyfriend arrested

http://www.abc-7.com/story/15084156/2011/07/1...

snipped:

Authorities found bite marks and cuts all over a toddler's body. Now, his mother and her boyfriend are locked up. We spoke the boy's grandmother who alerted authorities.

Fort Myers Police say the toddler's mother, Mayte Ruiz, allowed her boyfriend Michael Lopez to abuse her child over and over again.

"There were 30 different areas where the child had bruises all over his body," said Sergeant Sean Hoover, with the Fort Myers Police Department.

There are a least 50 different marks all over his tiny body.

Detectives say it was actually another family member of the little boy who brought him to the police department.

They say he was covered in bruises, scratches and bite marks.

That family member was Sandra Morse - Ruiz's step-mother.....

This child definitely needs a voice!

Baker County Family Court Meets Again in Miranda Wilkerson Case

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/topstories/arti...

-Little Miranda Wilkerson was at the center of another court hearing Thursday afternoon in Baker County.

The meeting happened 24 hours after the 3-year-old was taken away from the only family she's known and given to a registered sex offender, who also has a violent criminal history.

It's unclear what exactly happened at the hearing. First Coast News cameras were not allowed inside.

Sheriff's deputies also tried to move us in the courthouse hallway. A First Coast News attorney who was on hand also tried to get us inside, but she too was turned away.

After the hearing, no one was talking, including Miranda's family who told us they couldn't talk to us anymore.

Little Miranda, who will turn 4 in a couple of days, is now grabbing the attention of local lawmakers.

"I was absolutely appalled. Very concerned for the well-being of this little girl," said State Representative Janet Adkins.

Adkins told us she is shocked to hear what happened to Miranda is all legal.

It all started in 2007. When Miranda's mom, Trista Crews, died one month after Miranda was born, she was still married to that registered sex offender, Donald Coleman.

Coleman filed for divorce right before Trista died, even noting in the petition she was pregnant with another man's child.

But because the two were still legally married at the time of Miranda's birth, Coleman, who may not be Miranda's biological father, is considered her legal father.

"I find it absolutely incredible that the law would say you are going to take a child out of a family, the only family this child has ever known, and to put this person with a complete stranger who is not any relation, I find that just appalling," said Adkins.

The lawmaker, who represents Baker County, said she is working with DCF to see what can be done.

She also said it's time to look at the law and close loopholes so what happened to Miranda doesn't happen to another child. "My biggest concern is for that child's safety."

This is SO WRONG.. I am tired of the rights of sex offenders/pedophiles..

Prosecutor: Father Threw Baby Against Sofa, Caused Fatal Injuries, California

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/...atal-i...

A father of two demonstrated to police, using a stuffed animal, how he threw his 2-month-old daughter against a couch, causing injuries that led to her death, a prosecutor told an Orange County jury Tuesday.

Christian Trinidad Gonzalez, 25, is also accused of shaking his daughter, Iliana, and causing further injury. He is charged with one felony count of murder and one felony count of assault on a child with force likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in death.

Prosecutors said Gonzalez became frustrated when the infant started to cry. He reportedly began violently throwing her onto a couch and then shaking her, after realizing she was not breathing.

Iliana, who never regained consciousness, was taken to the St. Joseph Hospital of Orange.

Doctors called police after finding injuries consistent with abusive head trauma, including bleeding inside her head, severe retinal hemorrhages, and brain swelling, according to prosecutors.

She was kept on ventilators for two days after being declared dead on March 19, 2009.

Gonzalez initially told police he had left the child on the couch and when he returned from the bathroom five minutes later, she was not breathing.

Authorities said he later admitted to throwing his daughter against the couch.

If convicted, Gonzalez faces 25 years to life in prison.

Jury convicts father for putting son in hot oven, California

http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_n...on-in-...

A California jury has convicted a father of child abuse for putting his son in a hot oven to teach the toddler a lesson.

Prosecutors say 21-year-old Gregory Colver of Daly City wanted to demonstrate the danger of a hot oven after the 17-month-old child banged his hand against the door of the stove.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe says Colver dropped or placed the boy in the oven, causing second- and third-degree burns.

The San Jose Mercury News says Colver was convicted Monday and he was immediately taken into custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison when he's sentenced Aug. 16.

On 27th Trip To Woman's Home, Police Find Baby With Bleach Burns, Fla

http://www.wpbf.com/news/28571780/detail.html

A Florida woman whose alleged abuse of her children has resulted in more than two dozen calls to police in just three years is facing new charges, according to a report.

Sandra Michelle Freeman, of Venice, was booked on three felony charges of aggravated child abuse, The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported.

Freeman, 38, is accused of dousing her 18-month-old son with bleach, chlorine and pool-cleaning chemicals that can cause serious burns, the paper reported.

Freeman's two other children told investigators she repeatedly forced the baby to walk through the pool-shock chemicals in recent weeks, adding that there were other abusive behaviors long before that, according to the Herald-Tribune.

Freeman's adult son said he would clean the 18-month-old's feet after the abuse, but the burns were so painful that he couldn't walk for days, the paper reported.

The children claim their mother abuses pills and alcohol, and that her bizarre behavior is a result of her fear that she's being poisoned by bugs that come from her children, according to the arrest report cited by the newspaper.

Police: Beaten, Malnourished Girl Lived In Closet, Oklahoma

Snipped:

Oklahoma City police said a malnourished girl was made to live in a closet with only a cup to use the bathroom.

Police arrested 31-year-old Asusena Marie Gonzales on child neglect charges in addition to a list of existing city warrants.

Police went to the 1100 block of Grand Boulevard on Monday at about 10:52 a.m. in response to call from an Oklahoma Department of Human Services worker asking for several children to be picked up that were victims of neglect.

According to police, the DHS worker was investigating a referral at the address where a girl was made to "stay in a closet and was given a cup to urinate and defecate in."

The girl was also malnourished and beaten, police said. According to the report, the girl weighed 19.8 pounds when she was admitted to the hospital.

When officers arrived at the scene, they noted that the girl was emaciated and her arms and legs were "very thin and you could see the bones at her joints."

thank you.. Just post stories of children that need a voice..Maybe if I can get others to join, we can start a movement about changing things so that victims get heard..

The only thing that can now be done about Caylee and justice is not supporting the money trail, and now that others maybe can start really doing something for those that really need a voice.

Connecticut Mom Charged With Forcing Cocaine, Beer on Children,
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/07/22...est=la...

A Connecticut mother is charged with forcing her 4-year-old son to drink beer and giving beer and cocaine to her 10-month-old daughter.

The Connecticut Post reports that 29-year-old Juliette Dunn was arrested on June 28 after a neighbor flagged down police and told them the woman was feeding beer to her children at the Success Village playground in Bridgeport.

Dunn and a 33-year-old companion, Lisa Jefferson, were arrested and charged with assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Witnesses told police that Dunn gave a 40-ounce bottle of beer to the boy and ordered him to chug it down. Both children tested positive for alcohol at a local hospital and the 10-month old tested positive for cocaine.

Dunn and Jefferson are both being held in lieu of $100,000 bonds.

Cops: Missing 4-Year-Old Boy Found Safe At Drugstore, Fla
http://www.wftv.com/news/28631049/detail.html

A missing 4-year-old boy who was last seen with a homeless man last week was found safe on Friday, according to Kissimmee police.

BOY FOUND SAFE: See Images | Raw Video

Police said Tatum Contosta was found at a Walgreens pharmacy near Sandlake Road and Orange Blossom Trail (see map).

Police said he is in good health and he has been turned over to the Department of Children and Families.

Police were searching for Tatum Contosta after he was last seen with a homeless man at the Budget Inn Motel, located at 307 East Vine Street in Kissimmee on July 14.(see map)

Tatum’s mother, Jessica Contosta, left him with 45-year-old Silverio Irizarry to go to Orange County, police said. DCF reported the boy missing to police on Thursday.

Police said the boy was found with Irizarry at the drugstore on Friday. They also said that Irizarry took very good care of the boy.

Police spokeswoman Stacie Miller says Irrizarry won't be charged since the child was left with him. But detectives are trying to find out where the pair has been for two weeks.

Irizarry, who police said is homeless, is not related to Jessica or Tatum Contosta. They said Irizarry was only supposed to watch Tatum for about an hour.

According to Orange County jail records, Jessica Contosta was arrested on prostitution charges on July 14.

At last check, Contosta was still in jail on charges of prostitution and failure to appear in court on a 2009 theft case. Her total bond is $4,250.

Jail spokesman Allen Moore says Contosta has declined to speak with the media.

IOWA CITY — A mid-morning trial conference at the Johnson County Court House narrowed down possible dates for the trial of Brian D. Dykstra, 33, a former Iowa City man who is accused of second-degree murder for the 2005 death of his adopted, infant son.

Possible dates for the trial currently include the week of October 24 or the week of November 28. However, the Judge and State recognized that proceedings may have to occur in a non-sequential matter because of scheduling conflicts.

A definitive date is expected to be set in the near future pending responses of availability from the 11 doctors and 39 witnesses expected to take the stand.

Emergency crews on August 13, 2005, found 21-month-old Isaac unconscious on the living room floor with apparent head injuries. He was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and pronounced brain-dead the next day.

Dykstra, formerly of Iowa City and now of Central, S.C., surrendered to authorities on August 9, 2008, after an investigation. He was released after posting $15,000 bail.

Second-degree murder is a Class B felony punishable by up to 50 years in prison.

Sex fetish: Australian man taught child S&M to ex-deputy, Polk says

Christopher Lobban was taken into custody in western Australia, accused…(Polk County Sheriff's Office)
July 18, 2011|By Arelis R. Hernandez, Orlando Sentinel

Polk County deputy sheriffs worked with Australian authorities to charge a man in connection with the severe paddling of two children that was filmed and posted on a website to satisfy a sexual fetish, officials announced Monday.

Christopher Lobban, 53, was taken into custody in Western Australia, accused of promoting the sexual performance of children through a social-networking site in which he allegedly instructed a former Polk county detention deputy on how to spank them.

Lobban is also facing two counts of solicitation to commit aggravated child abuse by malicious punishment and two counts of lewd and lascivious battery.

The latter charge refers to the "sexual gratification" he received from watching the abuse online, according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer.

"Abusing children is not acceptable," said Sheriff Grady Judd during a news conference Monday. He said Lobban will be extradited to Polk County to face the charges.

Former Sheriff's Office detention deputy Robin Pagoria, 45, was charged in May with various child-abuse and pornography offenses after she allegedly filmed herself strapping naked children to a desk and spanking them with sex toys.

The U.S. Marine veteran filmed the spankings with her cell phone and uploaded the videos to a website called "SpankoLife," where she had set up a profile so her online boyfriend could watch, officials allege.

Pagoria told detectives that Lobban showed her how to make a "spanking table" and how to hit the two girls, ages 10 and 18, with a leather paddle. Investigators said the Pagoria cut the legs off one end of a desk, handcuffing the girls' arms and ankles to the other side to keep them from moving.

Pagoria's relationship to the minors was not provided to protect their identities, officials said. She worked for the Sheriff's Office for six years before resigning amid the charges.

The victims also identified Lobban as having participated in the "punishment" via the Internet.

Western Australia police searched Lobban's Mullaloo home May 30, where they recovered photos, chat logs and other evidence detailing his role in the "sadomasochistic spanking," Judd said.

Judd said detectives discovered Lobban had viewed two of Pagoria's videos at least 11 times. They seized two computers, cell phones and "spanking paraphernalia," from the home.

Lobban also had news clippings of Pagoria's arrest, he said.

Little is known about Lobban except that he works maintaining the greenery of a golf course and is "independently wealthy," officials said.

Newborn Found, Mother Arrested At Strip Club, Texas

http://www.click2houston.com/news/28...tml...

A woman was arrested at a strip club Tuesday night after her newborn baby was missing, officials said.

Micah Ashley Alford, 26, from League City, was apprehended at Ritz Cabaret, where she was applying for a job, investigators said. She had a felony warrant for her arrest on charges of child endangerment and abandonment.

Galveston County Precinct 8 deputy constables said they received information that Alford delivered a baby five days ago, which she eventually confirmed.

Deputies said Alford's probation was revoked when she failed a drug test when she was 5 months pregnant.

When deputies asked Alford where her baby was, she had no idea, officials said.

Shortly after police put out an alert for the baby, two women called saying they had him.

They told investigators another woman gave them the baby and he had no milk or diapers at that time, but they went and bought those items. The women then agreed to meet officers at the Academy parking lot on Edgebrook and the Gulf Freeway Tuesday night to hand over the infant, who was fine.

Officers had been searching for the newborn for four days.

Records show that this is Alford's fourth child and that the other three were taken away by Child Protective Services.

According to police officers and policenews.net , Alford has prior charges of DWI, child endangerment and child abandonment.

Her bond has been set at $100,000.
