A real "THANK YOU" for a man that started a hobby shop that many of us supported and knew that what we wanted and needed was always available. His touch will be sorely missed!!

May he rest in peace. His hooby shop has been the greatest place to shop for me, my children and now my grandchildren.

In the early 70's after my mom's divorce, the economy was in a recession due to the "oil shortage/embargo", and my mom had just started a struggling business (Lee's at the Colonial Bowling Lanes, many years later she would own Lee's Lakeside and the Lake Eola Yacht Club), and it was Christmastime. She had no money and Mr. Rausch let my mom Christmas shop for us in his store and told her to take whatever she wanted and to pay him whenever she could. His son Mike and I ended up in a lot of the same classes at Boone High School, and I'm not sure that Mike (or anyone else) knew what his dad had done for us. We would have had no Christmas that year if it weren't for Mr. Rausch. Thanks Mr. Rausch.

As a non-native Orlandoan, I didn't have the experience of growing up with Don's shop. However, in the last 15 years I've visited the store countless times and introduced my kids to it. Hopefully, it'll still be around for them to introduce their children to one day, but Mr. Rausch will surely be missed.
