The gun range was not to blame. They did follow guidlelines set by law.

I would like to contact them however, to see how I can get a GiftCard sent over to Casey Anthony for Mother's Day.

Wow..........So...... anyway... these morons are ruining it for everyone else. The only thing tragic is not being able to rent a gun at shoot straight anymore.

"He said he realized something was wrong when another customer pounded on the glass and told him McCarthy had shot himself."

This line is silly.

Damn, that is fantastic. Poor Shoot Straight. I used to go that to shoot since I have a handgun for home defense and believe that you have a duty to be able to use your weapon properly if you are going to have one; but I have to say that I fear that the place has attracted two nuts in one month, and I would have some trepidation about being on the range right now.

Let people rent the guns, it's silly to make people buy a gun that they're only going to use one time.

McCarthy was simply scoping the place out for a suitable place to off himself.

I thought the same thing! Who wouldn't think something was wrong when someone shoots himself!!

Looney toons will find a way. It's to bad that they had to do it with guns.
Actually it shouldn't really matter but since the death of the American media it will be blamed on a piece of steel and plastic. When we all know that the problem is with the grey matter that walks, talks and typically can't think for themselves anyway.

Wonder how long it'll take this coward's family to file a lawsuit? What a shame for Shoot Straight, in these tough economic times, to have this happen twice in a month, because it makes one leary of going there to shoot since you never know when one of these cowards will start shooting randomly at other patrons.

This really is tragic, but not for the loss of life - Honestly - If someone is going to off themselves, they're going to find a way no matter what. What's really tragic is this industry that has recently come under fire (no pun intended)for a couple of whack-jobs. Simply put - crazies are everywhere; taking away the rights & privileges of the law abiding, sane gun enthusiasts is just like putting away the planes after 9/11... we didn't do it and neither should SS. There should just be a sign posted for all SS locations now - "If you're planning on killing yourself, please purchase the gun and do it outside." - Of course that would never happen, we live in much too "troubled" times for people to own up to their own mistakes and their own bad choices... these days it's all about finding someone else to blame...

You'd think there'd be an employee inside the range monitoring things instead of occasionally looking at a monitor.

Even if there was, you're talking about watching 6- 12 people, partially blocked by safety divides at all times. The bottom line is these acts were premeditated... well thought out & executed(sorry, bad pun).

Even if there was an employee watching the line, and not from the safety of a monitor...what would you expect this hourly employee to do? Risk life and limb to save some idiot who wants to end their life? I have a very hard time believing they could fill that position....

Now - if it was someone who turned the weapon on others - I could honestly see having a state Marshall or some other law enforcement officer on site to "Forcibly keep the peace" if you catch my drift... but unfortunately, law enforcement rarely acts preemptively... that is, they would probably have to wait till the bad guy actually shot someone before they could do anything to stop them...(Actually I do know that the majority of employees at SS and other Ranges are licenses and do carry on the job, so there is some force available, albeit vigilante...
