Yes, and the reason for a lot of those open looks last night was because Gasol can not handle Howard 1-on-1. Bynum has a much better shot, but fouls a lot, so won't last long.

Since Gasol can not handle Howard they must double down Howard, and that means shots will be open with effective passing.

The shots just have to fall. Simple as that.

Where was that obnoxious stupid smug grin on DH's face last night? There aren't enough elbow throws in the world to save his team in this series (but I'm sure he'll try anyway).

THAT'S WHY THEY'RE CALLED THE ORLANDO TRAGIC. THE ONLY REASON WHY ORLANDO BEAT BOSTON IS THAT BOSTON DIDN'T HAVE KEVEN GARNETT. OTHERWISE, THE TRAGIC WOULD HAVE LOST 4 STRAIGHT GAMES.. THEY ARE pathetic!

Folks this series is over. It will be a 4 game sweep for the Lakers. Nothing really to be impressed about I guess. I mean it will basically be like stealing candy from a baby for them to win this championship. How can you possibly celebrate stealing candy from a sleeping baby ?

Is it me or weren't the Magic winning WITHOUT Jameer Nelson? In fact, before he entered the game they had an 8 point lead. Big mistake if they continue to play him and if they do, then I will blame Van Gundy when they lose the championship to L.A. There is a certain chemistry that has been going on with this team and it was evident to everyone last night after Nelson entered the game, it just wasn't the same team out there. Anyway, my Heat won in 2006 and I am rooting for the Magic to bring another championship to Florida.

Who said Bynum was a puss? He dominated Howard in the paint and changed the entire complex of the game.
Yeah if by "dominated" you mean fouled him over and over

Before any loudmouth fellow Lakers fans come on here and prematurely gloat. The Magic got alot of open looks, looks we cant count on them missing in rest of this series. Before this series started I felt either of these teams could easily win games. Its going to come down to execution. As a Lakers fan you always want to find something to hate about the other team and use it as motivation to stomp on them, but I cant find anything bad to say about the Magic. Good team. Its not even CLOSE to being over.
I agree, it is not even close to being over but even if those 3 balls cropped last night the Lakers still would have eeked out a close victory. I am a huge Laker fan, but I want a good series. I respect the Magic and Orlando will make adjustments and come out stronger for game 2, I just don't see a different ending for the Lakers whether the series goes 4,5,6,7 games, it don't matter. Title #15 is coming home. Love them or hate them, you have to respect the most consistent franchise in the NBA. Since 1949 they have not made the playoffs only 4 times, 4 times... There are many franchises who in their entire history have only made the playoffs 4 times. Heck, Boston didn't make the playoffs for 18 years before their last title, the Lakers never have that kind of drought. Congrats Magic fans on a great year win or lose, and I hope you get to enjoy making the playoffs every year for a while. You got a good team.

Another long time fan, I see - it's spelled Kevin.

And by the way, KG sucks. He suddenly became such an unstoppable force all of a sudden, simply because he joined up with Pierce, Lewis, and Rondo. By himself, he was and always will be nothing more than a big profanity-laced face making talker. Not a walker, but a talker.

The Magic won't be as nervous in game two, but they seem to be suffering from the same malady as the Cavaliers....they believe their own hype even though they haven't accomplished anything. "Superman" should have held off naming himself before winning, say, three rings.
What nerves are you talking about? They looked pretty darn good in the 1st qtr. and they had a 5pt lead halfway through the 2nd qtr....Then Kobe took command.

The Lakers flat out kicked Disney World's butt last night with great defense, great offensive execution, and dominating on the boards.

Magic fans need to suck it up.

p.s. to author of article, Nelson wasn't hit in the shoulder and grimacing, he was hit....someplace else....after Odom flew in like a bowling ball over everyone's back and hit a strike on all the pins. Somehow no over the back on that one, but they did let them play more so overall the game was officiated quite well.
You must have slept through the 3rd quarter. That was the worst reffing I have seen all playoffs. We wouldnt have won. We werent hitting shots but LA got away with murder and every time one of our players looked at a laker it was a foul. There were at least 4 late calls in that period alone. It was like the ref was waiting to see if the ball went in before blowing the whistle. We might have commited 2 fouls out of all that were called.

Well if Kobe had went 34 for 34 he would of had over 80 pts but that alot of if's just like your statement is alot of if's.

If you checked your Laker teams box score you'd see that your "deep" team actually didn't play that well. But they were definately "Kob-i-fied" enough to win. He went nuts.
Newsflash Jonathan, as apparently you weren't paying attention to Nuggets/Lakers series. The Lakers dismantle teams in one of two ways. The opposition tries to single cover Kobe, he goes off and the rest of the Lakers need only chip in: Result Lakers win. Or two, opposition tries to smother Kobe and the rest of the Lakers run all over them (Game 5 vs Denver). Either way opposition loses, you pick your poison. Of course for option one to have any chance, you need excellent perimeter defenders, which Magic have none.

....wow i put ray lewis on the basketball court in boston, that'd be interesting. i'd bet on a foul out before the 1st 2 minutes of play and a dead referee....
