Just How Directly Responsible Am I For Cleaning Up The Evil Around Me?
By
Michele C. Long
In today's Torah Study we were discussing how we don't have to go looking for the evil around us when Suzanne brought up the question: "What level of evil are we responsible for?" She sited a man who went to prison and, when released, killed a woman. What part did we play in his life and her death? As we sorted through this question, another arose; "Did we contribute to this evil by closing our eyes to the problem?" My soul suddenly felt a very sharp prodding from this question; one I couldn't ignore.
Time for Shabbat services came all too soon and I left with more unanswered questions. Once again, as the Source would have it, between the Keva, my eyes caught hold of the kavannahs the Bat Mitzvah teen had been guided to include in my studies today:
"Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted," - Albert Einstein.
"Each time a person stands up for an idea, or acts to improve the lots of others, or strikes out against injustice,(s)he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance," - Robert F. Kennedy.
"We have a duty to care for each member of our society. We must therefore avoid, at all cost, the urge to shut away those who are grievously afflicted as if they were a burden. The same goes for those who are diseased or marginalized. To push them away would be o heap suffering on suffering. We need, therefore, to ensure that the sick and afflicted person never feels helpless, rejected, or unprotected. Indeed, the affection we show to such people is, in y opinion, the measure of our spiritual health, both at the level of the individual and at that of society," -The Dalai Lama.
"Judaism is less about believing and more about belonging. It is less about what we owe God and more about wheat we owe each other, because we believe God cares more about how we treat each other than about our theology." Rabbi Harold Kushner.
She couldn't have known of our Torah Study discussion, yet her teachings were providing some important answers and guidelines for social responsibilities. It's not unusual for the Universe to deliver my lessons throughout the course of Shabbat in this "connect-the-dots" fashion. It feeds my soul in simple terms so that I can digest the lessons, absorbing the knowledge, and leaving fulfilled when the Shabbat lesson has come to completion. It's not coincidental that the first article I would read in the Jewish Light later that day referred to the upcoming Holocaust Remembrance Commemoration on May 1, 2008, at United Hebrew Congregation.
No, it only brings me back to my original question, "Just how directly responsible am I for cleaning up the evil around me?"
Next question: "Where do I start?"

Does unconditionally mean Obama will agree to our enemy's terms? No, he said talk to them, and it doesn’t hurt to talk. Nation leaders don't like being ignored, because when powerful nations like ours ignore them they flex their muscles to get noticed (sounds familiar?). Take Ahmadinejad, Iran’s president. His people hate him, THEY HATE HIM, yet we give him power over THEM and US by letting him rant on about what he’s going to do, then we ponder about going to war with Iran without having one face-to-face meeting with the man. We’ve always been bigger then that… until now.

Obama is a Bible-trained Christian, who knows and respects the fact that Jews are God first chosen. Christians understand this so wholeheartedly that it may be why he failed to be more definitive in his statement. Unlike Jews who care nothing about Christian history, we Christians carry Jewish Biblical history in our hearts, and it is reinforced on a regular bases through Bible studies and church sermons. And, as God instructed, Christian Gentiles pray for Israel, we always pray for Israel. We also financially, and prayfully, support depressed Jews in Russia. Christians also support the “Back to Jerusalem” movement where, as I write this message, elderly Jews are being transported from communist nations to Israel, seeing the prosperity of their people for the first time in their lives, all because of financial support from Christian people. There is no way Obama would’ve missed out on pleasing God with his financial support and prayers for those Jews. Jewish people have nothing to fear from Obama.

I just read the local Jewish Journal. There was an enlightening story about Governor Sarah Palin and her connection to Alaskan Jewish people and her interest and support for them. Then later I read about Sarah Palin by Rabbi Warshaw. His story sounds like that of a classic democrat New York Jew who does not need to have any information to decide the truth. Does he read the paper before he editorializes. I doubt it.

who="Sharon Martin"
I take exception to your assertion that Obama has a Christian background. His education & christian beliefs are very different from what most of us have learned about. Obama sat in a racist, antisemeitc church for 20 years. He did not quit until the media called him out.
His church follows the tenants of a brand of christianity called 'Black Liberation Theology'. It is based in Marxism. This group believe they are the "chosen people".
You can google-Black Liberation Theology.
During the black-power heyday of the late 1960s, after the murder of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr, the mentors of Wright decided that blacks were the Chosen People. James Cone, the most prominent theologian in the "black liberation" school, teaches that Jesus Christ himself is black. As he explains:
Christ is black therefore not because of some cultural or psychological need of black people, but because and only because Christ really enters into our world where the poor were despised and the black are, disclosing that he is with them enduring humiliation and pain and transforming oppressed slaves into liberating servants.
Biblical theology teaches that even the most terrible events to befall Israel, such as the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE, embody the workings of divine justice, even if humankind cannot see God's purpose. James Cone sees the matter very differently. Either God must do what we want him to do, or we must reject him, Cone maintains:
Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.[1]
In the black liberation theology taught by Wright, Cone and Hopkins, Jesus Christ is not for all men, but only for the oppressed:
In the New Testament, Jesus is not for all, but for the oppressed, the poor and unwanted of society, and against oppressors ... Either God is for black people in their fight for liberation and against the white oppressors, or he is not [Cone].
In this respect black liberation theology is identical in content to all the ethnocentric heresies that preceded it. Christianity has no use for the nations, a "drop of the bucket" and "dust on the scales", in the words of Isaiah. It requires that individuals turn their back on their ethnicity to be reborn into Israel in the spirit. That is much easier for Americans than for the citizens of other nations, for Americans have no ethnicity. But the tribes of the world do not want to abandon their Gentile nature and as individuals join the New Israel. Instead they demand eternal life in their own Gentile flesh, that is, to be the "Chosen People".
Obama is not a friend of the Jewish people!

Jesse Jackson, for all his sordid past has commented today on Obama and his real views on American policy towards Israel.

PREPARE for a new America: That's the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week.

The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.

Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.

"Obama is about change," Jackson told me in a wide-ranging conversation. "And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it."

Jackson warns that he isn't an Obama confidant or adviser, "just a supporter." But he adds that Obama has been "a neighbor or, better still, a member of the family." Jackson's son has been a close friend of Obama for years, and Jackson's daughter went to school with Obama's wife Michelle.

Obama Sponsored The 'Global Poverty Act'

The United States Senate may vote any day on the stealth imposition of what could amount to an $845 BILLION United Nations style global tax on American citizens.

It's called the Global Poverty Act (S.2433), and it is being sponsored by none other than Senator Barack Obama.

According to some conservative sources, this disastrous legislation could eventually force U.S. taxpayers to fork over as much as 0.7 percent of the nation's Gross Domestic Product -- or $845,000,000,000-- on welfare to third-world countries.

Advocates of the Global Poverty Act are claiming that it does not really commit the United States to anything... that it won't really cost anything... that it simply requires the President -- in conjunction with the Secretary of State -- to "develop" strategies to alleviate world poverty.

The Global Poverty Act intentionally gives no specific figures but it does contain clues, and those clues are stated repeatedly in the legislation's reliance on the United Nations Millennium Development Goal.

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

It Gets Worse! Here are some of the additional provisions of the Millennium Development Goal:a "currency transfer tax," that is, a tax imposed on companies and individuals who must exchange dollars for foreign currency; a "tax on the rental value of land and natural resources"; a "royalty on worldwide fossil energy projection -- oil, natural gas, coal"; "fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels." a "standing peace force," meaning a standing United Nations army that might, in time, be large enough to force us to bend to its will; a "UN arms register of all small arms and light weapons," the beginning of the end of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; the "eradication of poverty" by the "redistribution [of] wealth and land"

How do you suppose the United Nations expects to "redistribute" the land and the wealth? And what country do you think the third-world majority will go after first? cancellation of "the debts of developing countries," "a fair distribution of the earth's resources." and "political control of the global economy."

In other words, it's a blueprint for a world government, owned and operated by the United Nations. One thing is clear: the Millennium Development Goal is a dagger aimed at the heart of America. While the Global Poverty Act, as presently championed by its Senate supporters, embraces certain aspects of the Millennium Development Goal, one should wonder if some of our legislators also support land and wealth "redistribution."

Illegal Donations Flowing Into obama Campaign From Palestinians And Gaza

I understand many Europeans favoring Obama, as they are largely from Socialist countires. I am not certain why the middle east people would be actively campaigning for him. Working the phones from poverty stricken Gaza has to be cost prohibitive. Yet many are working those phones and have set up phone banks. I am including a link at the bottom of the page showing one of these Palestinian phone banks in action, and an interview with the groups leader. If you are not satisfied with the link, just go to youtube and look it up for yourself.

Of the $450 million dollars donated to the Obama campaign, more than $200 million of that; the donors have not been identified nor disclosed.

It is in the media today that there are several donations from the middle east illegally flowing into the Obama campaign. Obama's campaign has said they have returned part of the money. Two brothers in Gaza reportedly have donated over $30,000. Not bad for a family that lives in a refugee camp! Obama said his campaign returned the money, but the brothers say no money was returned. When the Obama campaign receives donations from people with odd names such as "Doodad", and "Good Will", a reasonable person expects red flags to go up. Not so with the Obama campaign. Money is money. The end justifies the means. Win at any cost.

"No, we did not receive any money back from the Obama campaign at any time," said Monir Edwan.

Last week, the blog Atlas Shrugs outlined the series of donations made last year by Monir Edwan and Hosam Edwan, totaling $29,521.54. A third brother, Osama, reportedly gave the campaign about $4,000.

A WND investigation tracked down the Edwans in the Tal Esaltan neighborhood of Rafah, a large refugee camp in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The Edwans are a large clan that include top Hamas supporters.

The brothers denied their financial transactions were actual donations to Obama's campaign, claiming they purchased about $30,000 in Obama T-shirts from the presidential candidate's online store a contention that did not hold up during a interview, when they changed their story several times.

"My brother Hosam and I knew that Obama will be a big hit even before he became a candidate. We knew the guy would be a celebrity in Gaza so we decided to invest the amount of $29,000 to buy Obama T-shirts from his website and sell them in Gaza," Monir Edwan told WND, speaking by cell phone from Gaza.

Asked how he managed to get shipments of T-shirts into the Gaza Strip during the time Israel imposed a tight closure, Edwan maintained the packages were sent to him by the U.S. Postal Service.

Monir Edwan said he wants Obama to be president.

"Not just the people in Gaza but people from all over the world are rooting for this great man," Edwan said.

I am not comfortable with illegal foreign money flowing into a candidates campaign. I wonder what they were promised in exchange.

Please read, and re-read my comments. at first it will seem that I am asking to display weakness on the part of Israel if they stop the fighting. Deciding to a cease fire on there own if the rockets stop.

Right now Israel is being tagged at killing children, and the worst humanbeing has feelings left for children.

Now, if Hamas continues to launch rockets during Israels deciding to cease the fighting, then the World, will be more understanding why Israel must defend itself.

I know it is putting Israeli civilians in harm s way, but it is a way of losing a battle to win the war.

Please get this to the (Powers to be in Israel).

email me...Please take immediate action as this will also curb the antisemites thruout the World loving every minute for an excuse to hate.
