The Republican President of the USA set the Tax Rate on those who made over a Million Dollars a year at a tad over Ninety Percent (90%). That is downright interesting. Today's Tea Party Repblicans and wealthy Republicans claim that increasing the taxes on the Rich back to President Bill Clinton's level of 39% will destroy the economy and jobs will be lost.
As I recall, everyone had a job when Democrat Bill Clinton was in office. I always had at least 50 high paying jobs that I could get any day of the week. Many employers were begging for skilled workers.
Let's see how a 90% tax rate worked out for Republican President Eisenhower.

The Dow Average opened 1/20/1953 at 288.00, on Eisenhower's first day in office.

The Dow Average closed 1/20/1961 at 634.00, on Eisenhower's Last
Day in office.

Well I'll be Dimn! Just look at that! Old Ike Eisenhower More Than DOUBLED the Dow Jones Numbers. Business was just booming, going up like a rocket ship from Cape Canaveral.

Are these modern day Greedy Republicans peeing on my leg and telling me it is raining?

Now you have to understand that today's 30% tax rate, complete with loophooles allowed Multi Millionaire Mitt Romney to pay just 13% on a 22 Million Dollar Annual Income.
And these Loopholes were there for the Millionaires in Eisenhower's time as well.

How much do you think the rich should pay? The much reviled 1% is already paying around 40% of all collected taxes while 47% of Americans pay NO income tax. Do you really think that 1% of Americans should provide 40% of the government's income? Or do you think they should pay even more? What should the welfare trash who choose not to work pay? Or should we continue to carry these people on our backs forever? Personally I think the very rich should refuse to pay more 1% until the jealous and the stupid wake up and recognize that the rich have been carrying them for a very long time.

I pay about 26% on my income. Mitt Romney Pays 13%.
Do you think that because I make FAR less than Romney does that 26% doesn't hurt me just as bad as 26% Would hurt Romney???

It would be nice, if I could pay just 13% like Mitt Romney.

You can't get blood out of a turnip, but the Republicans are going after the Turnips.

Republican President Eisenhower KNEW who had the money, and if government needed money, old Ike knew where to get it, and Ike Got it.

Back then even republicans understood that the rich had to pay more.

Republican President Dwight David Eisenhower used the money to build the Nuclear Armed Missles, and their Silos.
Eisenhower used the money to pay down the National Debt caused by WW 2, and the Korean War. Ike ended the Korean War. That is a NO, no, with today's Republicans. They want us to bomb Iran, and Syria is a good target for a lot of GOPers. Many of the Rich that Eisenhower taxed at the rate of 90% got rich by building vehicles, airplanes, ships, tanks, trucks, jeeps, arms, and armaments for World War 2.
Dwight Eisenhower used the money to build the Federal Interstate Highway System. That spurred the investment of Private Capital, buying land at entrances and exits, and the building of gas stations, restaurants, and motels. Many of the jobs that Eisenhower created employ millions of people today.
If it were left up to the Republican Tea Party, there would be NO Interstates, and we would be crawling around on two lane highways. They don't even want to pay taxes to repair the bridges and the Interstate Highway system.

Eisenhower left office with a Low National Debt and a LOW Inflation Rate.
The Republican President Dwight David Eienhower was Very Proud of the Fact that the Average Income Level for Working Class Families Rose 20% during his administration.

My God! The Republican Tea Party Must HATE and Despise Republican President Dwight Eisenhower.

This was your Grandfather's Republican Party. No wonder your Grandpappy liked Republicans.

These Republicans are dead and gone, replaced by the New Greedy, Heartless, Selfish Republican Party of today.

The guy is playing with semantics. He also has it backwards.

On the semantics: 13% of millions of dollars is still a helluva lot more DOLLARS than he pays in taxes. Democrats always try this mantra, citing tax brackets instead of DOLLARS. It's a worn-out, tired old attempt at creating class envy.

On the backwards part: Republicans are NOT the ones advocating higher taxes. Democrats are... "Paying their fair share"? What's 'fair'? Here's 'fair': Flat tax everyone. Period. Oh, and that means those on welfare as well. And food stamps should be considered taxable income, too.

Are you attempting to convince me that if a person pays 10% on a hundred dollar a week salary, which amounts to $10, leaving him $90, and another person pays 10% on a $1000 dollar a week salary, which amounts to $100, leaving him $900, THAT the guy who paid $100 has MORE Pain than the one who paid $10?
I don't buy your flawed pain factor.

You want Both the man who makes $100 a week, and the one who makes $1000 a week to pay the SAME $10, and just let the National Debt keep on soaring.

Yes. Flat tax everyone. Then it is truly everyone's 'fair share'.

Is it 'fair' under our current guidelines that welfare recipients- who don't work and don't pay into the system- to get tax returns?

But, YOU are Not safified with both men paying $10, because the guy with the $1000 dollar income could be a job creator. He could buy a trailer, a couple of lawn mowers, weed eaters, and two rakes and hire two men at Minimum Wage.
You want to give him tax credits for his investment in Lawn Care Equipment, Labor and Business Costs, and reduce his tax burden from $10 to ZERO.
You want the Two Minimum Wage Earners to save for their own retirement(No Soical Security), and pay for their own Medical Insurance, all on minimum wage. Dream on!
So, then you have his two Minimum Wage Uninsured workers go to the hospital with an illness, as Indigent Patients. Then you want to TAKE My County Property Tax Money and pay the Indigent Care Hospital Bills for their Employer.
I don't think I like you. I KNOW Dimn Well that I don't like My County Property Tax Money being used to pay for Indigent Care for your Minimum Wage Workers and Illegal Alien Workers that your "Businessman Buddy" is Using to make money.
You and your "Businessman Buddy" are quite happy to pick my pockets. Both of you probably laugh about it, while you are out playing golf.

Exactly what do you not understand about flat tax? No loopholes except maybe dependents. And that is it.

Flat tax at 10%. For everyone. Therefore the guy at100 dollars a week pays 10 dollars and the 1000 dollar guy pays 100. Common sense. Everyone pays equally.

A few years ago, I listened to a Rush Limbaugh radio show. One of Limbaugh's Dittoheads called in and suggested a Flat Tax for everyone.
Rush gets paid $31 Million Dollars a year to sit there and spout off.
Rush jumped in with, "No, we do NOT want to go with a Flat Tax of 10%." On and on Rush went explaining that a 10% Flat Tax wss just terrible.
That told me that Rush Limbaugh is paying LESS Than 10%.
I thought I would pass that on to you before you make Rush very angry.
Rush says, "NO, to a Flat Tax of 10 percent."
Rush said, He "would much rather see a Federal Sales Tax replace the Income Tax."
That way, the Poor and Working Class who have to spend ALL of their money to survive would be taxed on 100% of their earnings.
Rush has it all figured out.

You might want to stop getting your political information from entertainers. You do know that the talk show hosts are entertainers, right? Use your head and THINK.
I am well aware that Rush Limbaugh started out as a COMEDIAN, and then did so many political jokes, that he was picked up and used as a Political Commentator.
But Rush is looked on as a Prophet and Soothsayer by the "Dittoheads." Moses on a microphone.
I tune in to these jerks every once in a while to see what kind of BS they are feeding the people who hang on their every word.
I just happened to catch Rush on a rant against a 10% Flat Tax Rate. I put Rush in the same category with Mike Huckabee, and Ann Coulter.

But it's OK for Ellen Barkin to publicly wish death on everyone at the RNC? It's OK for Samuel L. Jackson to question God for sparing Tampa a direct hit from Hurricane Isaac? This hatred is worse than any conservative rhetoric I've heard. And I do not believe for a minute that you just 'happened' to tune in on a Rush Limbaugh program. My political views are decidedly more conservative than yours and I don't listen to him. You are painting a clearer picture of yourself- you call yourself 'progressive' with respect to your political views, but all that really means is you spend your time trying to become offended at people who don't share your opinions. Oh, all those Dittoheads are soooo ignorant and racist, and all of us Obamaites are soooo smart and enlightened.

Here, let me paste the quotes:

"C'mon #Isaac! Wash every pro-life, anti-education, anti-woman, xenophobic, gay-bashing, racist SOB right into the ocean!#RNC."

Jackson tweeted, "GOP spared by Issac ! NOLA prolly F*%kedAgain! Not understanding God's plan!"

Bear in mind that the hurricane was headed toward land- and people.
And this is what your wonderful, enlightened, progressive, liberal compatriots were worried about.

So, unless you are prepared to condemn the hatred coming from your side, don't rant about other people's opinions. It smacks of hypocrisy.

Open your eyes and take in the fact that the worst vitriol is coming from the left.

Google David Chalian. He was a Yahoo News reporter that got fired on the spot for saying that Romney would have a party while black people drown. Props to Yahoo for kicking his ass to the curb, but in what reality could ANY conservative say something like that? It would be the biggest story of the decade if someone on Fox said that about Obama. And you know it...

They both have the philosophy and techings of the Atheist Ayn Rand as their Bible. Atheist Ayn Rand is their Messiah.

And didn't the weak pay the "War Tax" that went to the Rich people in Defense Contracts for ships, planes, tanks, cannons, armaments, Ammunition, and weapons?
And didn't the Rich get filthy Rich from those Government Defense Contracts?
Eisenhower took notice of that, and used it as justification for setting the tax rate on those who made over a million dollars a year at 90%. It was time for the War Profiteers to give up some of their gains for the good of the country.
Eisenhower didn't kill them, the Rich still had their Tax Loopholes. The Stock Market more than doubled under Eisenhower, and with all the NEW business opportunities, the Rich got even Richer.
Income for average middle class families went up 20% under Eisenhower. I guess that would be the terrible thing in your eyes.
