This had nothing to do with the sheriff. You are grasping to tie him with anything. Kaupas has hired more woman and promoted more women than any Sheriff in the past. In fact he is supported by woman. I am a woman and will be voting for him.
I am sure the guy quit because he was told to by the Sheriff or be fired.

You are again the same malcontent deputy that always post dumb stuff on this blog. Try blaming the Sheriff for hurricane Earl also. The deputy was in the process to be fired and he resigned. You can't stop a person from quitting so you can fire him.. Also the deputies union agreed with the internal investigation and the deputy then just quit. However one of you ( maybe YOU) told the victim to call the Tribune to put the story out to create a story since there is an election this November.. You are SPAM..Good Day.

You are really stretching reality. A woman gets groped. She reports the incident to the Sheriffs department. The deputy resigns.

Isn't this EXACTLY what the taxpayers expect to happen?

I think the point here is that this incident happened three years ago and the Sheriff obviously knew about it then. Why was nothing done three years ago...because it's the same lack of management skills that makes him a poor sheriff. He has no control over what his deputies do off the job, but remember, when you are a police officer it's a 24/7 job. You still should be held accountable for your actions and this deputy was not held accountable, just like every other deputy or murder investigator that messes up. There is no personal accountability or immediate action taken by our Sheriff. Why was this deputy even allowed to resign three years after the fact? He should have been fired IMMEDIATELY or at least suspended. Remember, you're a police officer 24/7 and you are expected to act like one at all times. This is a direct reflection of Sheriff Kaupas and his lack of department management skills. I don't care if you support him or not, but the proof of his inability to run the department is within every article that reads to his lack of accountability. Period, end of statement!

Malcontent Deputies ?? Everyone please take a look at some supervisors above who love to blame the guys who do the job. This attitude comes straight from the entire Kaupas administration that cannot say that they screwed something up. What if these girls were one of your daughters folks ?? You would not be blaming deputies, you would be hanging them and the Sheriff. And as far as the union, that is their job. They protect the rights of the deputies, while the Sheriff protects the stiffs around him. By the way, where is the $100,000.00 answer to the question that the 35 year veteran Sheriff Kaupas could not answer to the Fox case ?? Ahh, still trying to find just the right spin on it huh. Why don't you read the entire article. The first woman didn't want to talk about it. She wouldn't talk to internal affairs. Now tell me how do you fire someone without proof?????? It also said it went in his file. The last incident- he is gone. Period. I don't know why you think that is lack of leadership. Kaupas can't help that he has some stupid deputies that make him look bad. You guys have unions that fight to protect you. It has nothing to do with kaupas' judgement.
It is your judgement that I worry about. Trying to make a campaign issue out of anything even when it proves Kaupas did the right thing. PERIOD. Have your candidate run on his own credentials. Trying to blame Kaupas for doing the right thing is getting old.

Phil you are a confused guy. First you defend the deputy and would hang the Sheriff??? Maybe you should look in the mirror. Why would it be the Sheriffs fault that the deputy assults woman. If you saw my response before read the article. The article does not speak bad of the Sheriff. The guy is gone because the Sheriff does not tolerate this stuff. The first girl would not talk. It is being paid for by drug seisure money just like he used to open the crete sub station. Like I said before Have Kaupas' opponent run on his own merit. Yes I make my wife walk five paces behind me at all times.She also must get my morning paper.Cook all my meals .Wash my clothes and dishes.Warm my car up for exactly 15 minutes in the winter .shovel the snow .
