Are Evergreen Park Police Taser-Happy?

Not only am I inclined to agree with this particular comment. I also would like to say that the Evergreen Park Police Department is notorious for being a racist organization of police. I am a 22-year old African American female and a graduate of a top ten research one university in the midwest, and I was verbally assaulted on one occasion by members of the Evergreen Park PD. I feel as though there are not enough minority members of the EPPD and I truly believe that this particular department could use a total overhaul from street patrol on up the ladder.

The reason why there aren't many "minority members" on the police department is because alot of them are in prison (and no, they weren't racially profiled either). So please stop playing the race card and stop acting like you're a victim. The reason why you were "verbally assaulted" by a police officer is because you probably deserved it just like every other person does, regardless of race.

Mike, if what your saying is true, then the original poster is wrong. For you, being white, to say that you've experienced racism, then it had to have been from a non-white cop. The original poster hinted that she was "verbally assualted" by a white cop. So what you both are saying is that EPPD is filled with white cops who hate blacks and black cops who hate whites? And somehow a department full of black panthers and kkk members get along with each other in some grand scheme to drive around E.P. and hate everyone? Interesting. Face the facts: you or a friend of yours got caught and calling the cop racist is a way to make HIM the bad guy, NOT YOU!

Greetings Mr. Rico; now sir, let’s touch on the real issues at hand. It was, it has been, and it will be. We moved to evergreen in ’71, this was the seventies Rico and if a black man wandered down 95th or even worse cut through the residential neighborhoods at night chances were that he’d might not see the light of day. Here’s where the story equates with me. Being that evergreen for the most part was “safe” outside of the antics going on over at Towers or the Plaza the night shift officers were limited to patrolling and snoozing between juvenile encounters and then there was our group. Our group consisted of middle class teenagers, mind you now Rico we were the residents of evergreen, as legend has recorded not all of the EPPD were corrupted fags and pedophiles, and (my favorite) punch happy pigs. There were a few good guys at EPPD Rico; anyway, the order of the day with these folks whom protected our fair village was brute force. Yes Mr. Rico I know from personal experience, well at least from their little beatings they periodically administered to me and my friends, however with you Mr. Rico, their justified. Oh yeah baby these punch happy pigs really knew how to send the teenagers to little company. Hey Rico, the village employed people to the likes of officer Karklaska who’s legacy was capping squirrels and bunnies oh did I forget, busting the teeth out the residential teenagers face. So Mr. Rico you’re defending the wrong group as their genetic profile is the same with them today as it was in the seventies. Yeah Rico, punch happy pigs.

I recently had an incident with a Evergreen Park Police officer. It was the FIRST time I actually was in the area. With my 5 year old daughter with me, we were going to 94th and Kedzie, RIGHT across from the Evergreen Park Police department, in the strip mall. Well, I pulled into a jam,packed parking lot. Since there was NO parking, I decided to make a Y turn, in a space, that had yellow lines on the ground, that was between 2 Handicapped parking spaces. I pulled in, put my car in the reverse position, looked in my rear view mirror, before backing out to make the Y turn and I saw a Squad car blocked me in and was not moving. I got off my car, and to my surprise a Evergreen Park police officer was about to write me a ticket. I got off my vehicle to inquire as to what he was doing. He was rude and ignorant and started writing me a ticket, basically he forced me in the spot to write me a 150 dollar ticket!!! Then he LIED on my parking ticket and said I was in the handicapped spot, which I was NOT at all. I was so infuriated and went across the street to speak with the watch commander. The watch commander on duty was pleasant , and after I told him what occurred he said he could'nt void the ticket, which I myself work in the law enforcement field know he can!! I even stated that it is shocking that there are officers like him out here, and in all my years working in this field have never came across a bad officer. I wonder how many 150 dollar tickets , this particular officer has given the innocent people of Evergreen Park by blocking them in a "yellow stripe" zone, not even a handicapped parking space, just to write them a ticket....

And they wonder why they don't get respect and why people feel they way they do about them. Don't get me wrong some good cops are out there. Oak Lawn Men In Blue come into the parking lot at Christ and while we are fast at work ticket cars....Fast Money for sure...
