This is disgusting. Not only do I blame this woman, I blame all who let her keep her license. I cannot believe a child had to die for this woman's serious mental problem to be taken seriously. I hope she spends a long time IN JAIL.

this entire situation is tragic on so many levels. i know this woman (noreen) and like others who know her we are in total shock. nobody even knew of the prior DUI, she went on after that weekend like everything was fine. clearly she is battling demons within her, and by no means am i excusing her for making such a careless, selfish decision as to get into her car while so impaired. i just wish some eventual peace for the family of that precious child who died, as they are the ones (along with noreen's own two children) who are paying the price for this senseless act and horrible tragedy. and for noreen, i am having trouble finding any sympathy right now for you. especially as a mother i cannot see how you could treat human life with such blatant disregard on mutltiple occasions. maybe someday my heart can soften and try and see that you had mental issues after your sister's death but the decisions you made that lead to this tragedy just make me nauseous. we all have had tragedy in our lives, but self-medicating is a cop-out. you should have gotten real help and stuck with it, if not for yourself then for your two sweet sons who will now grow up visiting you behind bars.

I am very good friends with Noreen.I'm sure she is not sitting in jail telling people how woeful her life is or she is blind(as stated by RED in Chicago). She is a good mom and friend that had problems not even some of us knew about. Some people did know of her previous DUI as stated by(anonymous in chicago)and were helping her get through it.No one could imagine what Noreen was going through after she lost her sister. They were very close.Yes, I am mad and upset at what happened. I can't explain why she did what she did. But I do know she is my best friend and I will stand by her no matter what. You don't know Noreen and what she was dealing with previously in her life before all this happened. She is still a human being and has to deal with killing Ariel Parker, hurting alot of people and not being able to be with her sons.

United States,
That is the biggest cop-out I have ever heard, Make her Noreen the victim in this. We will remember Noreen but not the family who lost in this. Why feel bad for her and her kids, they are still around. Now these parents have to lay their child to rest.

Have another Noreen!!! You're going need it!!

If you are her best friend - get her help and treatment. Appears from her sisters previous death from alcohol poisoning that it seems to run in the family. YIKES. Everyone deals with the loss of human life (brothers, sisters, moms, dads, kids, etc.) If being a drug and alcohol abuser is the answer for her - GREAT - but she let her problem effect the life of someone else. Poor Ariel Parker and his family Get her off the road, behind bars. I understand her children lived with their grandma. You say she won't be able to see her kids anymore - did she give a crap about them previously? 31 years old and not a care in the world. She isn't a child anymore - GROW UP.

ttt, i guess i understand your wanting to defend your best friend. but a child is dead and you have to understand, as should noreen, that people don't have a lot of sympathy for someone who chose drunk driving as an option (and on more than one occasion). i am sorry, as most certainly are poor little ariel's parents, that your efforts to "help her get through" her last DUI were unsuccessful.

Valium and alcohol? My GOD!!! When are people like this woman going to be stopped? I hope that the guilt of killing a 3 year old innocent child eats her ALIVE!!!!! There is no kind of punishment that would be too severe for her!!! Don't put her in a mental institution, that's just an excuse to get her off, put her in a prison for the rest of her life!!!

I didn't lose a sister, I lost a 9 year old daughter and I had pills forced on me for the first week after her death, but I said STOP, No More!!!! There are no excuses for this woman's actions. She is 31 years old, not a child!!, her has to take responsibility for herself and her actions!!! She had to have known that doing what she was doing was going to cause a problem again. She knew that what she was doing was wrong and dangerous. If she was such a good mother, then why does she not have her children? NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

According to 2/26 newpaper article: Hair stylist Noreen Hession of Tinley Park kept her license despite TWO previous DUI's for an accident that occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 19, wherein her blood alcohol level was more than TWICE the legal limit. The previous accident happened at the interesection of 80th Avenue and 187th Street in Mokena and cut the power supply to 517 homes.

The homicide at the 6900 block of 159th Street in Tinley Park, killing 3 year old Ariel Parker and hospitalizing his seriously injured mother on Friday night was a heinus and disgusting display of the absolute, complete and deliberate lack of regard for human life Noreen has for herself and others.

Unfortunately, the Hession family runs the risk of appearing insensitive to the gravity of this SECOND accident...an incident wherein a 3 year old child died. as they make and almost shameful and certainly unreasonable, in light of the circumstances, plea with the judge for a "reasonable bail" stating that 1) they think Noreen needs admission into a psychiatric unit.[The opportunity for the family to provide psychiatric care on their own terms is passed. The point in time for the family to step in was at the onset of the first DUI. Especially if she suffers from bipolar disorder and has a family history of drinking fatalities.]
2) Stating that the girl poses a low flight risk.[This misses the point...flight risk??? In that it is reasonable to assume the victims want their day in court...it goes without saying that their first concern would be to keep this gal off the streets so she doesn't continue to leave a wake of victims in her path of elaborate partying, champagne bottles and fancy SUVs.]

It is clear that the judge had his head on his shoulders in recognizing Noreen first as a risk and threat to the public and second as the flight risk. If in fact this girl suffers from bipolar disorder then the family pleas for transfer to a psychiatric unit are founded.

May the good Lord hear the prayers of our society for stricter laws and stronger family values.

I'm sorry I do not feel one bit of pity for this woman. She is depressed over the loss of her sister. A sister who died of alcohol poisoning. That seems to be a trend in that family. What about the loss of that innocent baby? Is this child's family supposed to feel any pain? I seriously doubt if they are going to get tanked every day and go out driving. She disregarded everyone on the road not once but several times. She is not depressed she is an alcoholic and drug abuser. She was hiding valium in a tylenol bottle. Come on friends of Noreen, wake up! Stop helping her with her excuses, stop enabaling her. She is dependant on your ignornance, no blindness. You all knew what was going on. My prayers go out to Ariel's family. I will pray for the loss of life and joy that you will forever suffer. Noreen still has her kids and from the sound of it, it was only part time. Take to heart that at least you were with the little one when the Lord took him home. Remember his laugh before your loss. I will keep you all in my prayers. I will keep Noreen's kids in my prayers because she didn't.

OK listen all of you "better than god know it ALL people"!!! I know the Hession family and they did everything they could for Noreen to get her the help she needed. She had bi-polar issues thatdate back WAY before her little sister died. Now DONT bring negative remarks this way regarding how her lil sis died. FREAK ACCIDENT!!!!!!! She wasn't a DRINKER because of what she witnessed of her older sister. Do you have all your facts???? NO, SO just because it was labeled alcohol toxicity you DONT know "HOW" it was caused. I DO KNOW THE FACTS and it wasn't abusing alcohol!!!!!! She was an angel whose friends screwed up NOT HER!!!! So your remark is so uncalled for saying that this is a "TREND" in her family. God will fill you in and you will feel like crap trying to disgrace the sister. Yes Noreen should pay I agree but leave her friends & family out of it. THEY TRIED so many times it's disgusting!

There is a heightened sense of emotional pain in your written words. I fear that it is not healthy for you, being so emotionally close to the family, to be online on the blogs. Please seek guidance among your family or parish members, in a private forum. You must love and take care of yourself.

Cool down "JLP" - I too can care less about the Hessions or any other drunk drivers and what ends up with them but it sounds like you still have some serious built up angst from your high school years (which doesn't surprise me since you went to Oak Forest). Sorry if you weren't ever part of the "in-crowd" during your younger days and that is was forced you to move away from the Chicago-area to Paducah. I hope you don't worry about your high school years too much; drink away your sorrows and end up like Noreen. If so, maybe you two can be cell mates one day and relive old memories. lol

When people speak about things they know nothing about yes I get emotional. I have fab.friends and a GREAT husband. I love myself so please don't preach to me. I am a loyal friend and thats what friends do for each other. How dare some by-stander "assume" they know what happened to Noreen's little sister! That makes an A-- out of them and God will fill them in when and if they ever meet him. Say what you will about Noreen, keep her family out of it.

I was standing next to the car that the little boy was being held by his sister. As blood was by his mouth. His mother the driver with a good portion of her left side of her skull open and bleeding. GOD!

Noreen is the last on my mind.
The parker family and how Ariel's sister was just screaming and crying for help.

Yes, grow up, there is no excuse and i feel no mercy for her. She made the choice, she new what could happen, problems we all have them......she might as well killed herself...then she wouldn't have put any more woories in that head of hers!!!!

I've been reading all these comments for the past few days. Its been crazy how it all is revolving around Noreen . She'll get whats deserved to her if not now then someday. I just want to say thanks for your comment. We should be all be praying for that family and their futures not Noreens.
