Hi there,

My husband and I have fallen in love with the town through pictures and videos on the Web. We have some friends that live in New Hartford and so now we are looking into moving into the area in the next year or so. Currently, we live in Texas. I was wondering if I could get any information on the town of Clinton? I'm looking into rental houses now to see what is available but there is so much to try and learn when you are so far away. Any information would be helpful. What are the schools like? I have a first grader.

Bad Idea! Trust me. New Hartford is better for you and your child. Clinton is very pricey with housing costing over $800 rent per months and the Clinton school isn't doing that good.

Thanks for the reply! We initially looked at New Hartford but there was no housing available. However, as it will possibly be another year before we can save up the money to move maybe something will open up by then? Our school district is going downhill fast so we don't want to be here too much longer. Thanks again!

It's funny that you would say that, because I do live in Beaumont, Texas. Trust me, it's horrible. Over crowded, bad schools, high crime, and just full of people who don't respect others. I just want to find a place safer to raise my kid. I want to be able to go to sleep at night at not worry that my crazy neighbor has stolen something else off my property only to have the local cops not lift a finger to stop it. I'm fed up.

i told someone else the samething im about to tell you and that is do not move. you are better off out of state. nothing in NY but high tax lots of regulations and no work. look at the facts. NY lost 9%+ of its people in 10 years due in part high tax no work etc. ny is 1st in tax being its the most in the country 1st in gas tax being it too is the most in the country and is 1st for state with the less freedom. last i was texas i noticed it had a lot of work well trust me NY and the utica area more so does not have a lot of work. last i knew 10% of the people in NY were out of work. tx has no state tax ny does and wait till that hits ya. then ya gotta remember the weather the weather in ny is cold and snowy 4-5 mths out of the year. the salt and snow on the roads kills your cars and rots them out. i moved out of NY myself b/c of the tax the laws and no work. heres some stats for you. my aunt does not live in utica matter of fact she lives in the country on .25 acres of land with a big house thats a complete and total rat hole yet her taxes are $4,000 yr. basically a $80,000 is around $4K a year but the best part is these houses are not worth what the county sets their value at. that "$80,000 house" is worth at best $50,000 at very very best. you can not get what the county thinks they are worth when it does time come to sell. my uncle had 3 acres of land nothing on it NO well septic lights or house about 3 miles from washington mills... its taxes $950 yr with nothing what so ever on it. whats gas in tx? last i heard gas in ny is close to $3.85.
you can move if you want but i got money saying you'll be crying your eyes out to go back to texas or somewhere else other than NY in 2 years or less.
now if you want to go on welfare ny is a great place to move to. 6 out of 10 people seem to be on yet have a brand new iphone.
if you are one of those people who love tax over spending lots of regulations and business killing business unions then by god ny is the place for you. pretty much if you are very left wing or an obama lover well you might enjoy ny.
best a luck.

High gas prices and property taxes are here in Texas as well. The snow would be a new thing for me as I have lived here all my life. The area I live in was voted the fourth saddest city to live in so, much improvement is needed! I will look into the surrounding cities that were suggested, thanks! I appreciate the feedback!

Clinton is expensive, BUT beautiful and quiet. from time to time the college kids play loud music but ill tell you, theres never any fights and all that, usually done by 2am. on the other hand the kids in school may be snotty, depends how their parents raised them though. I think if you have the money then you should.
