Nothing says summer like a meal outdoors, be it in a tree-shaded garden, on a deck overlooking the water or at a simple roadside stand.

The best sunset I've ever seen from a restaurant without a doubt is the Montauket, Montauk Point.

This place sucked ! We had a party in the upstairs room.it was horrible. The room was too small, the wait staff was very nasty, which led to service that was not good. They can not handle large parties and it was exepnsive. The view may have been pretty , but the parking lot has a horribly steep incline...not good for those that are disabled ! I say STAY AWAY from here......Captain Bill's in Bayshore is 100% better !!!

This is typical Newsday BS. Highest rated places are the biggest Newsday advertisers. Gianotti rated Casa Rustica the best restaurant on LI for years. No one else seemed to agree.

Yeah, I know. They put a few on the list that don't advertise, just to provide cover.

Best view? Take some trouble to buy yourself some great bread and great ingredients. Search the web for sandwich recipe ideas. Get a road atlas of LI and start to search out places. Wait for good weather. Go with someone who is good company. Have a picnic while the sun rises or sets, or whenever. Go for a walk and then have some great, special dessert, which you have also purchased.

Suggestions as to where to go? Find your own place; it's more fun! You can do this 20 times for the price of a meal at one of those listed in Newsday.

See you soon. I'll be the one with the roast beef and boursin cheese wrap. And a bottle of cider.

I wonder if they could have snapped any less scenic of pictures. These are supposed to be restaurants with "the best views??" Why not a single view?? The picture of Fatfish sums it up. Did they take that in January?? The pics just don't do these places any justice.

You didn't mention the restaurant with possibly the best view on Long Island...Captree Cove, inside Captree State Park! Talk about water views, serenity, sunsets, sea air, fishing boats, and wonderful food...

Sushi, Sake and Sapporo by the sea anyone? Gurney's kicks of our new sushi bar tonight!
Sushi, Sake and Sapporo by the sea anyone? Gurney's kicks their 4th July weekend off with a new sushi bar managed by THE Mr. Miyagi (formerly of the award-winning Maguro Restaurant) and his team. Remember Noriyuki "Pat" Morita, the Japanese-American actor who was well-known for playing the roles of Arnold on the TV show Happy Days and in the Karate Kid movie series? The character was named after Gurney's Mr. Miyagi.- With fresh fish coming in daily into Montauk Harbor, Gurney's new Sushi chef will create his original sushi fare with all his passion, patience and powerful skills for lunch and dinner, daily.
