If you can't beat corn costs, grow your own

There are 27 comments on the The Morning Call story from Jul 7, 2008, titled If you can't beat corn costs, grow your own. In it, The Morning Call reports that:

Three-quarters of a million turkeys eat a lot of corn, wheat and soybeans, and with the cost of food skyrocketing, that could ruffle some feathers for fowl producers who have to feed and sell them.

The Jaindls have made far more money from developing land than they ever did selling turkeys...

Maybe Jaindl should recycle all the bullspit he's saying here to help him with the cost of fertilizer. He had plenty of land to grow corn on... instead, he sold it for zillions and is now buying up "cheaper" land. No doubt this will allow him to continue growing corn and then sell additional, more valuable, land for more development. Or perhaps he just realized that "the ethanol lie" means he can grow corn and make lots of money on that too.

If you like the high cost of school taxes and the crappy driving conditions around here... send David Jaindl a thank you card.

Yeah, farmers that grow MacMansions warehouses for MacMillions as their main crop. I will boycott Jaindl Turkey as he has destroyed the landscape of the lehigh valley.

Did he ever clean up the stench near Bi-Cential park off airport road? He owned some land there and used it to dump turkey parts ( feet, heads and feathers ) we would see feathers all over the trail.

Well dont be to pi$$ed, they invested their money, yea they grew warehouses, sold them , rented them, and grew some jobs as well. As far as stench, I grew up right around their turkey pens, but you what they built their Mansions right there as well, so, as far as ruining the landscape, all the land they purchased , at least out where I now live cant be made into home development, buildings anything, of course its a land preservation thing which is a tax write off, which they now invest that money in something else. All in all they did a lot of good as well, and created jobs as well, all be it not high priced jobs but non the less jobs..What would have aggravated me if they didnt build their homes where the smells arent the greatest but they did, so we all smells the roses once in a while

They have provided thousands of families with jobs. Tens of thousands in tax revenues every year. Be thankful for entrepreneurs.

The valley would be in a deeper recession if it weren't for Jaindl. As they provided jobs and put the people in the valley to make the economy go. They made the valley what it is today, and have made the additional development around the valley(i.e. casino) possible. Who wouldn't develop land around three cities which comprise the valley? The valley would have sank a while ago if it weren't for them. If you don't like it, move!

Those of you defending the raping of the land by Jaindl... please provide actual numbers to support your assertions regarding how much better things are because of it.

As I thought... no facts.

Here is a fact. My school taxes have skyrocketed since Jaindl converted all of his low-tax land into high-tax houses. And yet... the school district is suddenly way low on money. Hmmm... that fact doesnt' really seem to support your assertion.

The man lives and works right here in the valley. I can't fault him for making money. We live right by his farms, and he is not a bad guy to have in the area...

The Jaindl developments have provided jobs, no doubt, but it is inarguable that the Valley has become ugly as a result.
AND,David likes to say, and I've heard him say it more than once, "We are farmers first", that's a really dishonest thing to say
