As long as they are registered it really does not matter where they live. You must do your investigating and find out if they are in your neighborhood and keep your kids and whoever else away. Also let EVERYONE know who is living by them . EVERYONE MUST be informed of the nasty, no good, perverts. I have one in my neighborhood and now everyone knows he is there.

Amazing, a lawyer stops you from enacting a law to stop perverts. Personally I think these people should be in jail forever or put to deat. Recitivism is 100%. Which people? Are lawyers human?

IMHO, towns, cities, and states with these types of laws are playing with fire.

Do you really want to have to pay every sex offender millions of dollars each, if these laws are ruled to be violating their Constitutional rights? Remember, those large payouts will be coming straight out of your taxes, and I am sure your taxes will have to raise to cover it.

South Whitehall is dong the right thing. Waiting for the courts to rule.

'We felt if we did not do it, it would be a kind of invitation for sex offenders to live here,'' said Rick Orloff, a supervisor in Richland, which is next to Trumbauersville.''It was to send a message. We did not want to be seen as a safe haven for these guys.''

What an oxymoron from a moron! He doesn't want Richland to be a 'safe haven for these guys,' but cavorts with with a child molester on a regular basis! The Free Press's Richard Woldow!

First of all the word sex offender does not = child molester. The other problem with your thinking is that all sex offenders re-offend, the US Dept. Of Justice Bureau of Justice statistics on recidivism puts sex offenders at one of the lowest goups to re-offend with only 3.5% of them being reconvited of a new sex crime within 3 years of release from prison. Also the USDJ says that over 95% of sexual assaults are commited by a person who has no prior arrest record. Over 90% of sexual assualts are commted by a person well known and trusted by the victim with over 50% of those being a family member. Going futher the studies todate show that were a sex offender lives has nothing to do with how the victims are picked. Having said all of that I am for sex offender registrys if they are based on testing paid for by the sex offender to show how much likely hood they may re-offend. The ones that are the most likely to re-offend should be on a sex offender registry. The others should not be on a public sex offender registry.

The sex offender program is politically correct and like most politically correct issues, it gets lots of attention and talk but actually accomplishes little. If you lived in Missouri and seen your neighbor on the sex offender registry for indecent exposure, you would automatically think of a pervert flashing little children. What about when you find out he was a truck driver and stopped on an exit ramp at 3:00 am in the middle of the desert outside Barstow, California. He got out of his truck and stood beside the tire away from traffic and urinated. He was seen by one of California's finest and arrested for indecent exposure. Now he is a registered sex offender in his home state of Missouri. Are you scared to have him near your children?
What if you lived in Tennessee and read that your neighbor was on the list for having sex with a minor. You would want to run him out of the neighborhood. What if he was a senior in high school and dating a sophomore. He turns 18 and continues dating her. They were sexually active but, now he is arrested and convicted for what was totally legal 3 weeks before. Now, fifteen years later, he is married to his "Victim", they have 2 children together and is your neighbor. Is he a danger to your children?
The "One Size Fits All" approach of the sex offender laws only takes away common sense and thinking. It is just as well. That is two things 99% of politicians don't have anyway. Wake up people. The government will sell you a bill of goods how they are protecting your children because it sounds good and gets votes. Don't react with emotion, react with logic and common sense. Take an honest look at what federal, state and local politicians are doing in your name!

Also, maybe it was back in 1983 and the cop said don't worry about it, just pay the $85 fine, and no one will know except the clerk at the cop station and the officer. Then, sometime around 2000, the truck driver finds his embarrassing incident is on the internet for every human on the planet to see ! He wasn't counting on that as part of the deal.

It's the ones that aren't on the registry that you have to worry about. Your family members and close friends are the ones who will most likely do something to your children.

The word is RECIDIVISM and it is NOT 100% even for those guilty of the most heinous crimes. It is approximately 5.3% according to most current studies and that is across the board including everything from the slightest misdemeanor.
