Merry Christmas is EXCLUSIVE.

I would think it would be more charitable to be inclusive. No one's saying you can't use Merry Christmas. Why do some Christians feel so threatened by this - if you are secure in your religion, why does it matter?

I have freinds of every color and religion. However it is a fact that Christians make up about 77% of all Americans and buy 99% of all Christmas presents. If you want to sell more, you have to market to that group of people, whomever that may be. The happy Holiday greeting is offnsive to Christians and so they buy less at Christimas time. Its a simple marketing strategy that retailers don't seem to understand. Look at the Chinese New Years. Nobody seems to have a problem with that, including me. I am not offended by it. I think its great. Political correctnes is for people that have no backbone,
and don't understand simple marketing.

Wow! So much hate! I am a Christian and I will not shop at Target. This is a personal choice. However, I do not spread hate and fear. I do not agree with what is going on in the world today. Each one of us has our own issues with society and see it from our own perspective. I am willing to share my knowledge with people who have open hearts and minds. I do not force my opinion on those who have already decided for themselves what they "believe". The problem that we have in the world today is not religions, it is not religious freaks, it IS HATE! Everyone should have the right to express their opinion, and share their ideas, however it is not ok to step on people. It is sad to see the anger and resentment that people within our own country have one another, and as a Christian it is sad to see that claimed Christians have so much hate. If you follow the BIBLE, the number one commandment by God is to LOVE. LOVE you neighbor, LOVE your enemy, LOVE!

Addition to the topic. I cannot speak for everyone, but I can say that I feel that when "Merry Christmas" is being replaced it is a sign of what the future holds. It makes me feel as a Christian that in religious tolerance, that there will be no tolerance for Christianity. It is a creepy feeling as a Christian when what you have known your whole life is being changed. It is probably fear that makes so many people angry about the issue, fear that our religion is being persecuted. If I was another religion I may feel differently, I may not like "Merry Christmas" being used. The point here is that each one of us "knows" we are right. Which leaves no room for compromise. That is my take on the whole situation.

I don't understand...I'm more pissed at Best Buy in making my beautiful neice work the late shift on Christmas Eve and having her get off at 10 pm. Happy Holidays has been around since the late 70s or early 80s. Back then it brought together Christmas and New Years together. I can't fault them for that and they mean no harm.

I know for a fact(because I have seen them) that Target has switched the lyrics of the beautiful Christmas songs,of which I have heard since I was a small child,to lyrics only to advertise their merchandise for the Christmas season.Talk about blasphemy!And by the way,remember to keep CHRIST in CHRISTMAS!!!!
