Glad you moved to Charleston, Dave. There is a lot of poverty here and a lot of unfortunate people as well. And it is RIDICULOUS for you to say that it's nothing but blacks who live off welfare. There is a growing black and educated upper-middle and middle class. There's also plenty of white trash that cause problems and live on welfare too in Orangeburg. Quit singling out race. There's good and bad people of all backgrounds. And Charleston has crime and problems too as you will soon find out.

Dave I wish you had not moved because not only is that an ignorant statement you made based off pure fallacy. The racist mentality you are exhibiting makes me ashamed to be of the majority first of all and secondly to be from South Carolina. I apologize to all the citizens of Orangeburg for his ignorance. And guess what Dave we don't want you in Charleston either.

You know what Dave you are so right! I was born in that fooked-up town bad schools, drugs, and the people there are always looking for something free, give me give me.
Itís being run by blacks so there you have it, thatís what is wrong with it. Those people can fook-up anything nothing is save nothing. Those dam Spainís boats sailed them to us and they where sold to them by there native chefs, go back PLEASE!

Once again, there are always good people, not-so-good people, and bad people. They span ALL races and ethnicities. I think that the majority of the white population here in Orangeburg has been so racist for so long, that now many of the blacks are acting the same way in return. Do people really think that HATE and BIGOTRY are the answers for happiness? And to tell black people to go back to where they are from (i.e., Africa, I assume, Robin), is ludicrous. Blacks, whites, Latinos, Asians, and mixed-race individuals serve in our military, pay taxes, and deserve their civil rights and to have as many opportunities as they can find. Please realize that it is not Christian (or many other religions too numerous to count) to preach such hate.

Dave, I bet your neighbors are glad you took a trip. It is obvious that you do not watch the Charleston News. I feel sorry for people who are on they way to hell and do not know it.

I'm a white non-american and I just moved to Orangeburg, SC area. I think the people in Orangeburg are very friendly and tolerant. I discovered how African-Americans can be friendly to Whites and I'm glad I moved here. Also, I think Orangeburg is not a bad looking city, quite an attractive one and a great location between Columbia, Charleston, Augusta and Savannah. And the weather is wonderful, never cold.

I have made Orangeburg my home for 30+ years, Dave I am glad you left! Get a clue, Orangeburg is moving forward. And race has no purpose except for ignorant whites or blacks. Why?? can't you see that you are being played like a fiddle. This is not 1968. I don't know but i would bet that you did not finish high school. Don't get me wrong, there are blacks just like you, that just don't get it! Men are MEN and there are... People "LIKE YOU"!!!

Dave, your grammar and sentence structure and the use of all caps.......hmmmmmm......I think it is easy enough to deduct you are poorly educated (you probably went to school, you just can't apply it),and very angry (the shouting caps) at something,someone...yourself? As an English professor once told us "fools names, fools faces , always seen (and now read) in public places. Sorry ,Charleston, everybody has to be somewhere.

Hello everyone. I feel that Orangeburg has it's problems like every other town. No town or city is perfect. Along with the bad, there is much good. There are a lot of good people that have a lot to offer. Not everyone desires to live in a larger town like Columbia or Charleston. To each his own. It is not where you live that makes you who you are; it is what you contribute to the area that you live that makes you who you are.

Actually I found this site by accident while researching Orangeburg. I live in a small town not to far from Orangeburg and would like to see people who desire to live in a small town have some of the opportunities and conveniences of the big city without the crowds. I am currently a Computer Science student and my plan in the near future is to start a Web community/ dating site just for Orangeburg and the surrounding small areas. I see 1000's of dating sites and Web communities but none of them are totally dedicated to the people in small towns and rural areas. Of course most Web businesses are to make BIG money and that is why you do not see it. Even though I would have charge a small fee to help maintenance cost, Web hosting... the main thing would be to have a site that people in my community would enjoy using. I really would love some feedback from the people of the Orangeburg area. Please let me know what you think. Is there already a site like this that I have missed? Do you think that a site like this could be successful? I look forward to your feedback.

Please do a little research on the drug situation in Charleston. The mayor of Charleston was interviewed on a national TV magazine type show a few years ago about how he had changed Charlestons drug problem. I believe that same drug problem has now followed Interstate I-95 up to Orangeburg and the college campuses.

I have found through many moves in my life that any place is only going to be for me what I make of it. I pray that you and many others will learn that as well. Soon!
