No offence to TOPIX, but like all news in Burkeville Texas. The residents either are last to know, or someone gets stuck on a news item long after it is all over with. To be honest about it our town would be stuck in time. But for some reason the gentlemen who run things in this state seem to only realize that we are people that live here and not some plaything that they can do anything that they want to without hurting us. For instance they say that they renamed all the rural roads cr because the people that work for them can not read. Now come on you want us to believe that pack of lies. Because our school district tells us a different story when elections come around. And your own personel admit that they heard the same thing, and they say that the old names stick out and the new names blend in, and they usually have to call in and ask if they meant a certain road. And I say certain road because some of our citizens have recieved threats about using these old names and the threats vary. I do wish the gentlemen that we hired in Austin would come to realize that a lot of the problems in our economy are being caused by these programs. This 911 program that they implemented is more than necessary, but why are you letting the local officials use this program to attack certain citizens of this state. The local officials didn't let these people know when to evacuate when the hurricanes hit, but every county north and south of us did. SB 14 is just another example of a law that will be used to attack certain individuals and it is no different than having a poll tax or reading test. Which by the someone had the good sense to abolish. Anyway back to the weather. Here in Newton County if you are trying to predict the weather then you would be considered a fool by the citizens of our little community.

SB 14 that is presently going through the process of becoming a state law is unconstitutional in its current form. The reason is it implies that in order to vote you have to issue an ID and voter registration card and that the addresses must match. This is a breach of your right to privacy. I am also appalled that this bill is just another tool to enforce 911 addresses and nothing more because the same people who issue your voters registration cards will be the same people who will be asking for your ID at the polls. And adding this criminal penalty is another example of what the Federal Government tried to stop by passing the Voting Rights Act. No This bill is just another obstacle being placed in the way of the legitimate voters. And another effort to violate your privacy. Whether they believe it or not they are continuing to attack the citizens with these stupid bills that do not actually do anything but intimidate the people. And as for the weather in East Texas, trying to predict it is the same as trying to catch the moon in your hand. It is nothing more than a magic trick.

Well! Here I am again and there is a chance of freezing rain tonight, but no tornado. And today a GROUP OF Prominate Attorneys have come to the same conclusion about SB 14 2011 that I have it is nothing more than a poll tax which makes it unconstitutional. Do our legislators really believe that we are all stupid idiots out here. And another example of this is a statement by our local sheriff bragging about the amount of prisoners he has in lockup being more than he can hold. Is this gentleman for real! Does he think that locking people up represents doing his job. I live in Newton County and this place is like Mayberry USA on television is. How can he possibly have that many people in jail. The only way that he could possibly have that many is that they are going there for food. Or he is simply putting people behind bars because they can not fight his word. Circumstantial evidence is about all he ever has on any arrest report. Which causes most people to be released and one of his ex-deputies believes that he is not above making things up. Why can't these people be like those old timers that use to run things. Respect the citizens and they will respect you. Today! It seems to be to make the citizens fear you and they will let you do whatever you want to do. Again, certain lawyers believe that SB 14 2011 is unconstitutional and is literally a poll tax in direct violation of the voting rights act. It is really cold for this area near freezing right now.

I wish that you people would understand that a law passed by these yahoo's does not in itself constitute a poll tax directly. It is when you add other laws into the equation that you will begin to understand that this is a poll Tax. And it is another law in a long line of laws yet to come that will allow the state to violate your privacy. And even though you may not understand this. This bill will disenfranchise some of the very rich. I believe that this bill could ultimately lead to the equivalent of imprisonment in your own homes. The state wants to know why it can't pay it's bills. Well it is because they are taking away all of the incentives that the citizens have for contributing to the coffers of the state. If you put the wrong size belt on a fan, it will work for a little while but sooner or later it will fall off or break. This bill will not change anything except the states budget.

The Weather here in Newton County Texas is usually nice. But yeah! We have freezing rain and tornados just like they do north of us. The South is not immune to cold weather. And as for SB 14 2011, it is nothing more than an attempt by the state to prevent people from voting out of fear. And since other things prevent some rural people from getting ID's such as the fact they don't have enough money to do all of these stupid things that these rich legislators seem to think nothing about the cost of. And that is why this state has a deficiet, they spend money like some spoiled rich girl with her Daddy's Credit Cards. And as for 911 addressing here in Newton County its the same old thing the rich get to do what they want and us poor dumb cowboys who live on the farms have to contend with these so called serial numbers of Cr ,and pvt. Now if the road is a private road and it belongs to someone how many of you think that the owners wouldn't put their name on it like they do in Vernon Parish La. No! You gentlemen have a point when you say that the local officials disrespected the people who live here, and some of the people here have just dropped out. They don't allow mail to be delivered and they have turned off their phones. I don't think these jokers are going to be happy until they put the country back into the Dark ages. Cr is two letters which could mean anything, and When googled on my computer it comes up with everything but County Road. So! Who are you guys fooling. You did this so you could receive more money from the state to correct this so-called error you made to collect more money to put in your pockets. And those gentlemen in Austin, must have their heads in the dirt not to see what you are up to. But to all of you people out here laughing about what these guys are telling you. I want you to know this is your money that they are wasting. And if you can't see the contempt in this addressing mess, or the outright stupidity of their claim that a photo ID is going to prevent voter fraud. Then know you that in most instances of reported voter irregularities it involved someone working in the voting officials office or the voter registers office. So! They will be the people you will show your ID to. Besides that how many of you haven't seen some teenager buying an ID that was fake to get beer or cigs in the last few years. Well! It happens everyday somewhere in this state. So! What difference is it going to make. None. Two pieces of ID are just as easy to duplicate as one. Why do you think our money has all the fancy colors in it. No the guys in Austin do not seem to be all that bright anymore. They're letting a bunch of dumb local officials scam them and take the rights of the people of Texas and play around with them. This State use to be a place that you could take pride in being a part of because they use to respect the people. But alas that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. You Gentlemen in Austin better wake up and smell what is going on. This recession was caused by these very same people who are making fools out of you in the eyes of the people.

It seems the House is going to pass this wasteful legislation. So! Now they need to pass legislation to prevent the state from telling people their address. Information on your voter registration form is supposed to be private and confidential, now we are going to allow the local officials to use that information to deny a person the right to vote and allow the same officials the power to say what a persons address is. If you gentlemen are worried about the little cases of voter fraud that go on in this state to the point that you are willing to give the local officials another tool to intimidate the voters and attack their opponents constituency then go ahead. Those that ignore History are doomed to repeat it as the saying goes. The weather in Newton County Texas is rather nice today with the leaves coming out. And by the way I am not a democrat, and tend to vote republican, but pretty soon you will know everything about how I voted. This little world is not perfect and most attempts at making it perfect have ended in Disaster. And this sonogram bill will only cause young women to go out of state to do their business and thats a shame in more ways than one.

I would like to know who will determine if an ID is valid. Because in my area they have said that an ID is not valid unless it contains a 911 address in which you claim to live. The State has failed to protect the citizens who do not wish to use these fake addresses. And then if the people in the county that assigned these addresses can stop anyone they want by saying that their address is invalid and you can not vote. Is the state going to hold up an election result because there is a protest that someone who had a valid address was excluded because someone didn't like them. It does not seem like the state is using sound judgement about photo ID. Fake ID's are just as common today as they were yesterday. Who will determine who gets to vote and what assurances does the public have that these people will not abuse themselves on the public. In rural areas everyone knows everyones business and their attitudes, so what measures does this bill take to see that a voter is not excluded because of his beliefs? I also would like to know if a persons information is still going to be confidential on their voter registration certificate? The state has not addressed any of these issues. The only thing that the public can do is wait and see when they are going to be asked to present their identity papers to walk out of their house and to see if they still own their house.

The Voter ID legislation in Texas is just another attempt to compartmentalize the people. The Brown shirts did it in Germany back in the 30's and it led to people being rounded up because of their religious beliefs and their ethnicity. You already have an identification system present in Texas voting that is just as efficient as this new proposed ID legislation. Photo ID requirements will be abused by local politicians to insure that their candidates win. They will round up the opposition candidates supporters and harass them from voting. Rural areas are not like the big city areas where this kind of action would be noticed. There is somewhat this kind of abuse going on now in my little rural county. The county that I live in most of the jobs can be controlled by your local government through various ways none that you can say are specific. Which is why no one can prove that they are happening, but everyone here knows that if you do not vote the way that the local officials want you to vote. You can be rest assured that they will use every measure available to them to make your life miserable. The State officials that represent us seem to be unaware of the way that their legislation can be manipulated to attack the people who do not support the local officials. After all most of our local officials can claim ignorance since only a few have actually went past High School. Words have different meanings in different text. For example the right to set does not mean the absolute right to change without just cause, but the county in which I live interpreted the word to set as the right to change all addresses. And they completely ignored the words a limit of ten reuses of the same or similiar names on roads. No they did what they did to control the people and there was no concern for addressing, safety, economics, or protection. The State legislature needs to force the county courts to return the unconflicted road names back to the roads from which they took them from by abuse of power. Restore the rights of the people that were trampled on by these people. In Newton County Historically recognized roads were renamed to this sick Cr addressing, and after three years of complaints by the citizens there has been no help from the state. We are still having to use ribbons, balloons, and bottles attached to the street signs for markers to our roads, and because they placed these Cr addresses it is more confusing than if they had left the streets the way they were without these stupid signs. These people are even responsible for renaming some of this counties private cemeteries which is none of their business to do. This really amounts to the fact that the state has given these people the right to steal property. And if you can not understand me then maybe this will sum up the problem for you. An addressing error has occured Return to Sender, or my personal favorite No such Address. Do you people really do not see the economic effect that this abuse is having on us. Not to mention the emotional strain it is causing Texans.
