BRANTLEY COUNTY, Ga.-- An abandoned trailer in Brantley County was home to a very active drug operation, according to South Georgia deputies.

Police raided on Thursday a grow house they said contained hundreds of illegal plants and nearly 100 pounds of freshly cultivated marijuana.

Multiple agencies descended on a seemingly abandoned mobile home, where they found more than 450 pot plants along with 91 pounds of processed marijuana.

Investigators said the drug operation had been supplying marijuana for three counties.

"That's what we work hard for is to keep it off the streets from our young people. They're our future leaders, and we work hard to keep it off the street," said Brantley County Sheriff Robert Thomas.

Thomas said six months of undercover work went into bringing down the grow operation and the arrests of Michael Miece and Clifford Adams, who both live in Glynn County.

Neighbor Barry Gregory told Channel 4 he was shocked to see all of the pot-growing equipment taken out of the nearby trailer.

"You think you know what's going on but you don't," Gregory said. "It's a bad world to live in now."

According to investigators, the dealers would show up at the trailer only to tend to their growing operation.

"They'd come in and out, but I thought they were just checking on the house," Thomas said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and Georgia State Patrol helped the sheriff's office in the marijuana-growing operation investigation.

Or meth labs!
Seems like this is a small town, and it probably wasn't that hard to find this place. Brantly County is very small and out in the middle of nowhere. Someone was probably talking about it at the Wafflehouse, and the local deputy overheard it...lol They spent six months on this? GMAFB

They are sooo full of S**T!!!! First of the only reason why this plant is illegal is because the gov't can't find a way to tax it. There's a crack house on just about every other block and meth houses all over the place but they wanna bust people for some green. OMG people it is not that powerful of a drug. Its not a gateway drug. Then again isn't the correct def for a drug is something that has to be chemically altered? I agree with "G UNIT" someone has there priorities all screwed up.

I feel like the agents should be focusing on 'crack' and 'meth' dealers. Marijuana is not a drug that causes people to kill, rape, robberies, and all the gross things that are happening. I don't smoke marijuana, however I don't see why it shouldn't be legalized, since they claim it is good for people with cancer!
Get these 'drug dealers' standing on every street corner and find out the 'Big Man' and get the 'crack & meth' off the streets.

Because if the flow of crack was to be stopped it would put a dent in crime, and sheriff Rutherford wouldn't have any reason to keep sticking his hand out for more money.

Good points. But our justice system depends on our drug laws so they can stay prosperous and powerful.

If you were smart enough you could figure that one out on your own but since you are not, I will take you by the hand and walk you through it ....

The drug war has given our justice system the power to take money and property. The drug war also creates a neverending cycle of crime with the blackmarket effects. The drug war has created jobs for many police, prosecutors, judges and defense lawyers. Why would those that depend on the drug war for income want it any other way?
