CLAY COUNTY, Fla.- Four people were arrested Thursday in connection with the theft and transfer of the gun used in the killing of Clay County Detective David White in February 2012.

During the murder investigation, investigators said they discovered that the firearm used in the killing was stolen in Jacksonville in May 2011. Investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms found that the weapon was stolen by Robert Apple II, 22, of Orange Park, then passed through the hands of Christopher Henderson, 21, of Middleburg, Curtis "Ping" Dingler, 19, of Middleburg, and Jack Lemond, 36, of Orange Park.

Investigators said all of the suspects knew the weapon was stolen.
Lemond ultimately provided the weapon to Ted Tilley, a convicted felon, who used the weapon to shoot White and Detective Matthew Hanlin, investigators said.

White, Hanlin and other members of the Clay County Sheriff's Office were investigating possible methamphetamine production at Tilley's home on Alligator Boulevard in Middleburg.
All four men arrested were charged with dealing stolen property and booked into the Clay County jail.

Why wasn’t the original gun owner arrested for not having his or her gun better secured? How can we arrest these four people for dealing stolen property, if the gun had been properly secured or better yet not in the house at all, Clay County Detective David White would be alive today.

Besides, when Robert Apple II broke into the house or car where he found the gun I am sure he did mean to take the gun it probably feel into his bag. They he gave it away to get rid of it because it would have been against the law to sell a stolen gun.

It is obvious that we need the Local, State and Federal governments to create some new laws that make using a stolen gun by a felon, a felony…… We also need to punish people who own guns and have them stolen………

Any gun that is used to kill a member of this corrupted for profit justice system that we have, is a gun used in good hands.. Detective David White is burning in hell.. I have no sympathy for his wife or kids ..

My highest respects to Christopher Dorner, who was a good man that went only after cops and their family members...

Christopher Dorner was a true American hero..

Very nice dolander, I take it you believe Ted Tilley to also be a true American hero, would that be correct? Without his hand loading, aiming and pulling the trigger then the gun you have already praised would have never performed this act to which you praise.

What is your opinion of Mr. Robert Apple II the second, he did not steal the gun from a corrupted for profit justice system, he stole it from a private citizen. So does that make him a hero also? Just asking…..

I would like to say that CHOICES were made when stealing this item, and obviously killing someone was in the mix and passing it on. Mr. Apple did know this was wrong. He also had an ajenda.
Unfortunately, the Right to Bare Arms is something in the USA,which is under Constituational Rights, and until people are responsible gun buyers/users things like this will happen. The bottom line is that it was used to KILL someone.

Are you suggesting the original gun owner was not responsible?
Are you also implying that the Right to Bare Arms (Have Legal ability to defend one’s self) is a bad idea?
Maybe I just misunderstood your quotes
