With the responses of the last two comments in mind, no wonder why the town is going to shit. I guess we have the mentality of the ignoranant to thank for having a drunk loser for a coach. Give it a little while, the outcome will be no different then the ones before him, soon the same ones coming to his rescue will be stabbing him in the back too. All the ones that think football is so important, how many from OG have ever ended up with a professional career in it, none. Most can't even make it in college. Maybe priorities are a little screwed up!!!

I am in total agreement with you concerned. I don't know where these airheads are coming from but I sure wish they would find their way back there. They are off on some tangent of their own and lack the common sense to realize what the actual subject of this conversation is. I also agree about what lies around the corner for these coaches when the wins stop (and they will). I wish OGISD administration would put half the effort into academics that they put into athletics. Lord knows we have many more who have been very successful in college and didn't play high school sports. Just how many have went on to successfully play at the college level and earn a degree - that answer is easy - NONE.

I agree you shouldn't have to worry about your kid on a school bus or in a locker room BUT I have to ask....did these "senior players" hold him down and make him take/smoke whatever drug? Did they randomly hand him whatever and tell him to use/take it AND he did? If I were in your shoes, I would worry MORE about the irresponsible choices my child is making as to the use of drugs and his choice of friends. It sounds as if he was more concerned about being a part of some certain crowd than the consequences of his behavior. If, after contacting the school, you didn't attempt to contact the parents of the others involved, the same might apply to you.
I agree with you fully. No one can be forced to do that. As far as everything about coach, he is probably one of the most passionate people I have ever seen. He is a damn good addition to the coaching staff and we are all proud to have him here

Concerned sounds like some damned ranch hand nobody who is hungry for attention. Keeps going on and on about her son and how his drug use is someboby else's fault. Doesn't sound like she has enough sense to realize her son is just another little f-ing druggie and probably has been for a while. I'm sure he isn't the "all around good kid" she claims he is. I wish she would get her head out of the sand (or whatever hole it's in) and admit the fact that the problem living with her is of her own making, both literally and figuratively.
Your an idiot you can't read either... they had a druggie mom & I got custody... they are straight A students and national honors society and in sports and community service and not getting in trouble other than that one incident!!! I repeat you are an IDIOT!!!

Well maybe now that we have good coaches and we are doing well this year and have been for the past two years maybe some colleges will start lookin into our school and maybe these kids may be able to make it somewhere in life!

There have been good coaches before and there have been winning seasons. With that said, I can't think of ONE person who ever made it to the big leagues in ANY sport in the last 40 years. Open your eyes parents! Academics is what will get your kid somewhere in life, not athletics. Maybe if they (parents) would quit pushing athletics and trying to re-live their high school years through their children, the kids would be successful in college. Lord knows the so-called "good athletes" of the last few years can't handle college courses but they sure know how to saddle themselves with pregnant girlfriends. I sure hope sitting under those Friday night lights was worth it.

You need to go back a do some research. There was a female track athlete that went to college for shot and discus, a 2 male track athletes that went to UTSA, one for the 400m hurdles and one for 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, another female track athlete that went to UT for pole vault, a male athlete that went to TLU for football, a female athlete that went to TAMUK for tennis.... I could keep going. Before you say NO ONE has EVER successfully played at the college level, do your research!!

And you claim these attended college on a full ride scholarship for their respective sport? I think you are confusing some drop in the bucket local scholarship with an actual college recruiting. Well, either way, you have still helped in provong my point. Academics get OG kids a lot further in life than athletics, especially football. Heck, you can even use the subject of this thread as the poster child - booted out of college(s), then professional football. Do some checking - is he even a certified/licensed teacher?

So OGISD has him on the payroll because he's a coach with no type of teaching certification - that explains even more about the situation. What a waste of tax payer money!
