this is more of the "its about me"...where does milford think the state, with an 8 billion dollar shortfall for the next two years, is going to find 2 million dollars. maybe they should ask for less money to fund education or for the police or some other essential service if this is really that important.

Jimmy Ritchelli is a phony! He has the gall to complain that the state has backed off their promise to waste taxpayer's money on this boardwalk and tells us they promised, what was he saying the other night when he was called out on his promise to fund and bond the renovatons and improvements to our city high schools? He said this is not a good time, he said we should wait for an improved economy! He reneged on his promise but has the audacity to challenge the state's decision. If ever there was an elected official who has out lived his effectivness it is our mayor.

How can this man and his Republican dupes look in a mirror? How can he speak out of both sides of his mouth and think he is effective? How can he run for mayor when he doesn't hold himself to the same standards he asks the state to uphold? I can only hope our senior citizens remember it was Mayor Jimmy who stalled any attempt to give them tax relief, it was the mayor and the 5 republican alderman who tried to abolish the Dems attempt to give them some tax relief. It is time for Jimmy to move on and find other employment.

Barbara Lambert has her facts all wrong...again. She is an embarrassment to our town, but it is amusing to see the DPW guy correct her. As usual, she wants to keep on spending despite the economy.

Mayor Richetelli's idea makes more sense. Don't abandon the project and waste all of the money already spent. Keep the project alive and finish it when the economy recovers

Joe, you are being severely misled by both the Democrats and the Republicans. If you think one party is going to look out for the interests of the taxpayers, then you are sorely mistaken.
Abandon your party loyalties...they've abandoned us a long time ago. Go Independent and set your political "self" free.

Even Mr. Spaltoff, head of the new independent party, agreed in theory with what Jow said about going ahead with the school project.

Adrian you are a fool if you think the independents will act any differently! Unfortunately it seems all politicans talk out of both sides of their mouths. On Monday night the mayor is opposed to bonding on the school projects despite the fact they were part of his long range plan. He was opposed to spending despite how much money was being saved due to favorable bids and low interest rates. Wait a few days later and he can't understand how the state can kill this project. He can explain till he is blue in the face there's a difference, there isn't! If you think the new independent party will behave differently you are the one who is being misled!

Joe - check out the updated article about the boardwalk being brought back to life by Rell and the Mayor's reaction:

"Richetelli said he thanked Rell for her commitment to the project and "wise" recognition that moving forward not only makes economic sense, because construction costs are low and significant money has already been spent, but is also the right thing to do."
