Two major sponsors have pulled their support from the Tulare-Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce following a fire in mid-February that destroyed its offices and raised questions about leadership within the chamber.

Corporate spokeswoman Edna Silva from Wells Fargo and Rob Julavits from Citibank both confirmed that their companies have withdrawn their sponsorship of the chamber for 2011. The companies were listed as sponsors on the chamber's March newsletter and are still listed as sponsors on the chamber's website.

Tulare and Kings counties business owners, who have asked that their names not be used, have also requested to have sponsorship money returned and memberships canceled. No monies have been returned so far, they said.

Repeated calls from the Times-Delta/Advance-Register to Hispanic Chamber of Commerce leaders seeking comment have not been returned.
