Did Eldon say Glenda and the councel voted in a close sesson?

1. How does he know what was said in CLOSED session?

2. The BROWN ACT states matters can be discussed but no VOTE can be taken.

3. Have you reported this violation to the proper authority Eldon?

Eldon can you say BROWN ACT VIOLATION and GLENDA HILL in the same sentence. That's ok I printed your post and I will forward it to the AG office for you. Oh yeah I wii also make sure he knows you are an elected official.

"That's ok I printed your post and I will forward it to the AG office for you. Oh yeah I wii also make sure he knows you are an elected official."

Good for you ... glad to see your taking civic duty seriously. IF you actually file a complaint - it becomes public record. IF the AG's office thinks the complaint is valid, they notify in writing BOTH the person filing the complaint AND the person(s) named in the complaint, with a copy of the complaint document. NO more hiding in the shadows "Oh my".

Such an elegant hodge-podge of meaningless tripe!!!

"why change it "
Because a diverse group of the community want the Council to consider a change in name. This is not new many citizens have wanted this for years. Do you even know the real name of the building, and its intended usage?

I don't know anyone that says lopez accomplished nothing. Being in an elected office for 30 years, and drawing an EOC salary (currently $42,800/year + bene's) all of those years without specific job responsibilities, the law of averages will produce some nominally positive results.

However, there are numerous documented cases of gross mismanagement, abuse of power, and misuse of public funds. There were a plethora of Brown Act VIOLATIONS. And many, besides the one he was convicted of, Political Reform Act (FPPC) VIOLATIONS. That is only the short list on the negatives.

If the Lopez Sainthood Society wants a building or monument with Lopez' name on it, obtain some property and create a structure as an edifice to his memory. DO NOT use TAXPAYER dollars ... there are private foundations and other sources to contact - or - donate some of your own money "money".

"money" ... probably the only cash you have is from your girlfriends welfare check.

".. fuck what did you bring back .."
Are we to assume that you have some insider information about the results, or lack thereof, from a week of meetings in "dc"?

The news paper holds back information, there were family members of victor and many concearned Residents who support keeping the name on the building. Orange cove times reported 249 signatures were collected but failed to mention that the city attorney received one thousand three hundred signatures to keep the building name as is,what happen to the fairness from our local press, are they going to continue to be bias and report to the people Glenda's view and the rest of the community does matter.

Mr Thompson your views are your views but we as viewers can see the hatred in every letter that is typed with your finger, you will eventually pass on with hatred weighing deep upon your heart for a man who dedicated himself to this community and made this a better city to live in that I know!

Victor Lopez took more from the city than what he gave to the city. Tax payers are still paying for his $1 million skatepark and bike park. Why should he have a city building named after him? What did he do for job developement?

"The news paper holds back information.."

Gooly gee Spotlight ... you people have been babbling that pointless point of view since the 2006 election!!

"..but failed to mention that the city attorney received one thousand three hundred signatures.."

And you spoke directly with the City Attorney to verify that a specific number of signatures were delivered before "the press deadline" at the Times?

"..what happen to the fairness from our local press.."

What happened to the newspaper that Lopez and his talking radio head buddy were going to start and provide a Spanish language alternative to existing local and regional newspapers? Couldn't raise the start-up capital? No cash available for operating expenses?

"Spotlight" your beam of light is dimming ... soon to flicker to a spasmodic blur. YOU and many of the Lopez sycophants are obsessed with the word "hate", an indication of insecurity.

But thank you for being concerned about my demise -- don't hold your breath waiting.

Oh, BTW, what did I not respond to?

April 13 public hearing set for community center name change

By Exponent staff

March 16, 2011

The Orange Cove City Council has approved a resolution to set an April 13 public hearing to consider the renaming of the Victor Lopez Rural Development Job Training Center, also known as the Victor P. Lopez Community Center.

The hearing, ironically, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, at the Victor P. Lopez Community Center at the City Council's regular meeting.

The City Council received a "community petition" signed by approximately 249 residents requesting the change and requesting the removal of the signed mottos from the main lobby and gymnasium center.

The Resolution, approved at the March 9 meeting of the Orange Cove City Council and Redevelopment Agency, initiates a process to consider the community petition for the name change.

One section of the Resolution reads, "Members of the public shall have an opportunity to be heard on the renaming of the Center to Orange Cove Community and to propose other alternatives for the renaming of the facility. Members of the public shall have an opportunity to comment on the removal of the mottos."

The Council listened to protests from former Council member Bertha Del Bosque and members of the Lopez family before a standing room only crowd at the City Hall Council chambers.

The Resolution was one of eight New Business items on the March 9 agenda.

"hogwash"

Is that a technical term ...

a) used in publishing?

b) related to the time frame(s) for distribution of information?

c) a technique that provides insight into what other people know?

d) or an indication that the user of said term can't provide any documentation to prove an "opinion"?

Why would the people want the mottos removed from the lobby? "Working together, all things are possible"
This is true, regardless of who said it. Does this mean the taxpayers are going to have to pay to repaint the insinde of the building or would there be another sign to cover this up too?

my bet would be the labor cost could be ZERO ... with a half day notice there would be six or eight qualified "volunteers" to man/woman the paint rollers!!!

Oh, BTW - there is no need to paint all ("repaint the insinde") of the interior. Just the political mantra of the EX-mayor. The citizens of OC made that decision (EX) last Nov.

Well the paint won't blend & it will look bad. What else do the people have in store for that building? The people have already stopped the kids from using it for basketball. What good is a community center if part of the community cannot use it, such as the teenagers?

249 people out of 12000 residents of Orange Cove is not a significant number. Why were there not more if this is an issue that resonates with the masses in Orange Cove? Petty, Petty, Petty.
