Has anyone noticed the sign on Milos Hamburger store? It reads: "Spring Breakers--No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" Isn't this low-down advertising? Who wants to eat in a place that allows no shirt and no shoes being worn by their customers? I guess they can't count on the flavor of their hamburgers to bring in customers so they have to resort to this type of advertising. I would think that this is also a violation of Health Regulations.

I think it's just a play on words from Kenny Chesney's "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem". On the other hand, wonder if the No shirt rule applies to the female gender - HA! Business could be good!!!!!!! HA! NEVER IN FOLEY!

No way. The sign you see in other restaurants is "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" and it has nothing to do with Kenny Chesney. It is a statement of the policy of decent restaurants that have drawn a line on indeceny which Milos' apparently has not. I wonder, if their sales don't pick up soon, if they will not require their customers to wear pants as well. This is all that Foley needs along with stores leaning mattresses against their storefronts to completely turn "The Forward looking City" into a redneck haven.

Anything to make a dollar. I can't believe that place is still open. Worst hamburger I've ever had.

I agree. They don't even taste like hamburgers. They have taken down the offensive billboard though and I'm glad of that.

First of all, I will agree that the food is abysmal and probably enough reason for them to no loner be open.=P

With that out of the way, I think to even mention this billboard is simply a result of an overzealous desire to look for anything that could be deemed partially offensive. It's....a billboard. Does it have nude women on it? Profanity splashed across the top? Perhaps someone burning a cross featured prominently? No. It is a simple play on a common sign recognized by everyone that has ever eaten at a restaurant.

Just as the popular insurance company doesn't actually have a duck that goes around screaming "Aflac"... this is obviously just a shot at drawing some attention that is not meant to be taken seriously. Lighten up.

It's not as insignificant as you make it out to be. What if every food service restaurant in Foley, Gulf shores, Orange Beach, and other locales promoted the idea that anyone could come into their establishment without shoes or shirts; don't you think that this would be, at least, somewhat inapropriate? Up North, where I came from, we had boardwalks along the vacation beaches. They have strick rules that say that when you comes off of the beach to go on the boardwalk to buy a hamburger or an ice cream cone or anything else including just walking on the boardwalk, you much wear a shirt and some sort of shoe--even if it is a flip-flop. I think that this is the minimum of decorum that should be accepted here.

Ah, now this is an area we can agree on... boardwalks on the beaches! I have very fond memories of early mornings and late nights on the boardwalk of Ocean City, Maryland!

That's the one. I can't figure out how they can be so popular up North and you never see them in the South. I grew up on Boardwalks and miss them.

maybe because we are on the gulf of mexico, prone to tropical storms, high tides that would destroy the boardwalks. then you would all have something else to b*tch about.

Do any of you have any suggestions of fun things to do or cool things to see in Gulf Shores? My family and I will be vacationing there in June.

Well, I soooo look forward to this vacation now. Seems like there will be a lot of "friendly" people there in Gulf Shores!(said with much sarcasm!)

This isn't your typical slow-talk'n Southern town.

It's a friendly enough place to visit; it's just when you take up permanent residence here that things(attitudes) change. Guess it's fairly typical of most small Southern towns, although I have lived in some that had quite a bit of Southern hospitality left. Unfortunately this isn't one of them, although Orange Beach and Gulf Shores have Foley beat hands down. Enjoy your stay - check out Foley Fish Market and Billy's Seafood and get you some fresh seafood to grill.

guitar player... Are you in the Orange Beach area? If so, you should consider stopping by Janna's Market on Tuesdays or Fridays for Open Mic Night. Tonight (Friday) the performers will be videotaped and published on http:www.OrangeBeach.ws.

Texan: Please don't judge the people who live here by some of the posters on this board. You will enjoy your visit. I am not sure why discussion boards attract the people with bad attitudes.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Pisces

Family, friends and in-laws are all hard to please. It is better to please yourself for once, dear Pisces, than to bang your head against a wall. You need to relax and get in touch with your own feelings. Do not hesitate to speak up for someone you care about. Someone may try to curtail your freedom. Set them straight and do not give in.
