As of Sunday afternoon they were not a problem, however August is usually the worst time for them. Bring the meat tenderizer just in case, as it breaks down the poison and makes the sting less painful.

Carry a bottle of vinigar in your beach bag. It will take the pain out of a jellyfish sting.

Enjoy!

I am coming this weekend and would like an update on the jelly fish. I was down there last year during the boat races and they were pretty bad. Thanks for any info!

I actually think that you can google gulf shores, alabama, and find a site that contains local beach conditions. I haven't been to the beach in a few days (Mon. night) and was playin' the Hangout then, so haven't had any beach exposure in the daytime. Hopefully they won't be too bad - just remember that meat tenerizer sprinkled on a wet sting will break down the poison that causes the sting. I also think that the lifeguards carry something at their station now too. Have a safe trip and to those in Mississippi - HODDY TODDY!!!!!

Just got back today from Gulf Shores (was there for five days) and can tell you there were no Jelly Fish or Seaweed. In fact the water was the clearest I have seen for years.

I just got back from a 5 day stay at Orange Beach. We stayed at the Tidewater Condos & the jelly fish were bad. Everytime I got in the water or was walking along the beach I saw them and some were as big as my head. I've never seen so many but this was my first trip to the beach in August.

I've been here (Orange Beach) since Sunday and have seen only one on the beach, none in the water. A little surprising since it's August, but good news none the less! The water has been excellent :)

Just got back from Orange Beach, the jellyfish were out and some big ones. My wife and I were stung on the first day down there. Vinegar works well on the sting.

We live in Arkansas and just returned from Gulf Shores. The jellyfish were awful and most of them were huge. Didn't get stung though. Just got to watch closely!!

I saw quite a few washed up on the beach monday afternoon, and one of my granddaughters was stung today while sitting in the surf break. So here we are near the end of Sept. and they are still a nusiance!

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Virgo

It's okay to have high expectations, but try to keep in mind that no one can be all things to all people. As the Moon spends one last day in its current sign, it urges you to find a way to recognize others for their strengths, and forgive them their weaknesses. Virgoans' idiosyncrasies must look like strange quirks from the outside as well! Fate ties up the loose ends towards the end of the day.
