I would love to know the number of kids who left Opelousas Catholic because of the Bullies. Those in charge say they are watching out for the kids I don't think so. You have those like Coach Scott Speyrer who try but then you have those who pretend not to see. Then you have teachers who will give an F to a kid for turning in his work late ( this kid was in the emergency room by the way )then let another kid slide getting their grade with no marks taken off. When the kids mother questioned this she was told to worry about her own kid. It seems to me that is what she was doing. All she wanted was for her child to be treated fairly what is good for one should be good for all. I guess everyone should change their kids last names to get fair treatment.
been there

School will decide today if the boy being bullied can return to school. The school staff has been told over & over again about the BULLIES, Nothing done, only the victim of the BULLIES is sent home ,he has been grabbed by the neck of the shirt,That BULLIE was sent home for a change .Also his little Sister is having her feet stepped on by some girl in her class,at least her Teacher did something but the girl does things in the other class to the boys little sister.IS THIS A RICH KID ..POOR KID THING ?? If you aren't rich you don't count ?Has anyone watched on news what some of the kids that are bullied do ?There was a 13 yr old boy that KILLED himself. The little sister over heard Teachers talking about her Brother now she is upset.Teachers should wait until they are alone if they want to GOSSIP about a student, and make SURE they have all the FACTS,not in front of little 2nd graders.I don't think the little girl went to school today, she stresses out on things like that.Actually has had to go to Doctor, she got upset and her mouth got raw.Doctor said it was stress. Both she & her brother love OC { lol }The Parents will not play with OC this time, they have been letting things slide, I they are talking about getting a Lawyer .I would have done that a long time ago.

The 8th grade student's are only on chapter 3 in History, seems they aren't advanced as much as other schools.Teacher's need to stop gossiping about some students,&get to work. The Principal needs to something about the kid's who bullie others,& do something about the kids that are cursing {on school grounds} in front of visitor's and other kid's..Seems to me Opelousas Catholic is going DOWN HILL.....The coach was fired, seems they need to fire a lot more

Above details pretty vague and I am unaware of details of bullying incident, but I can tell you this: My kids have been at OC for 7 years and we are not rich. We have never been treated differently. I personally and professionally know teachers in all grades from pre-k through high school as well as the principal and administrators and I know that family income does not play a role in favoritism at my kids' school. In fact, these administrators and teachers would be classified as " poor" if you saw their income. Coach Speyrer is doing an excellent job and the attitude of the school has improved over the last couple years, culminating in the dismissal of the head coach. As far as the Catholic aspect of the school, masses have been wonderful this year with more and more participation by the students at all levels. Every school has its problems and if you think other schools don't, I'm afraid you'll find yourself mistaken .

Maybe its because of your professional association with the staff at OC that your kids are treated the way they are. Again,.. It's all about who you know or how much money you have.

I personally know about the bullying being done at OC. Just a few years ago kids ganged up on my brother and all they did was give them a slap on the wrist. I also definitely think that money talks a lot at that school and it always has. I personally have never attended OC and never wanted to but the sad thing is that sooner or later my kids will have to go there on the only basis that there is really no other catholic school as close to where I will be living. But, while I was in high school, the kids my age at OC's favorite past time was weed. And several got in trouble to begin with but then the parents showed their money and everything was forgotten about. Needless to say "OC MOM" you must be the one that is on the up and up with the ones that rule the school. You are completely mistaken if you think money doesnt factor high at that school.

St. Ed's in Eunice is a good school and tuition is not as high. If I were you I would look into it. I have heard lot's of good things about them.
You are so right I also know that in the late 70's they had their favorites one of them was wearing a court ordered ankle bracelet at a OC homecoming game. I guess it is better not to be their chosen one.

My son was at OC they complained about everything he did no matter what. When he only played with a few kids it was he didn't have enough friends. When he read his books at recess he spent to much time reading and should have been playing and socializing. On the day we cleaned out his locker he was dancing around in one spot he was so happy. Well. that was a problem also but, the kids running in the hall were not. It's funny how a kid who is no longer a student gets corrected but, kids who are still students don't. Now you tell me they don't have favorites WRONG.

That is exactly it. At OC it is ALL about WHO YOU KNOW. So many of the parents went to school at OC with each other, it is a little clique-fest. And trust me, if you KNOW the right people, it will never be your child or instigated or was even part of the problem.

Maybe if those so called bullies would play sports OC would not be getting their rear ends handed to them!!!

Apparently the bullies are not quite high enough on the totem pole to play sports but are higher up on that pole than the ordinary student who is there for an education (which seems from the post that they are not getting anyway)so they know that they will not get in trouble no matter what they do. Children are taught by parents and these parents may want to take up a confession or two as any GOOD CATHOLIC would do! Seems like this school needs a whole lot of revamping starting with the administration. Oh, but administration is ruled by someone higher up on that same old totem pole. If my child were on the bottom of that pole i would have to pull them out and give my hard earned money to someone else.

It seems as though you don't know anything about this situation. Therefore, you should spend your time expressing your opinion elsewhere. You are obviously concerning yourself with someone else's problem. Have a clue before you post, or perhaps you posted on the wrong site. I don't think you have the authority to dictate how people should spend their money. Anyway, no one bases their decision on where YOU think they should send their children to get an education. Perhaps, you are a jealous person so think before YOU JUDGE OTHERS!

If your kids don't go to OC don't worry about it you have no reason to be concerned. If your kids go there and you don't like it there are plenty of catholic schools (St.Eds,STM,Teurlings,ND,and Sacred Heart) move you child and stop crying about it. You won't get anything done by hiding your name and complainting on a post site. The whinning is very annoying.LOL.
