Rick is very crazy and I too dated him for a minute. He comes on as a gentleman at first and then changes to a monster after you have fallen for his charm. I even brought him around my family and helped him with his career as an educator. I knew that something was wrong but unfortunately I was unable to put my finger on it.I fell for him and was almost his slave. I was doing laundry, picking up lunch, going to get money orders to pay bills, taking of his business as if I was his wife. My heart truly goes out to both families because they both have experienced great loss.

This is a very sad thing that Ricky can get to a place in his life that he has no value for the life of others. I first met Ricky in high school playing football against him then we played together for two years at SU. I considered him as a homeboy even at times talking to him about some of his actions towards women. But to no avail he continued on this path from cutting tires, choking his girlfriends, locking one in his dorm and not letting her leave as well as making one strip naked in the cold and get in that nasty ass lake on the yard to prove her love for him. Now it has come to this. I pray that he gets what he gave to all of those young ladies. May Ms. Majors rest in peace. If you want to know more you contact me [email protected]

My heart bleeds! I cannot stop thinking about the 21 year old young adult that died @ the hands of Mr. Ricky Deshawn Arvie. I feel so helpless right now. I wish I only knew her and told her to leave this crazy ass fool. I also dated Rick 3 1/2 years while attending SU. I heard a lot about him from his football peers, family, and friends. Everything that was said was negative. In particular, how he dated this cheerleader and how he had her doing strange things. How controlling he was to her, as well as, how he battered her. I didn't want to believe it b/c I felt you got to give everyone a chance. That's what I did gave that tired ass, a chance. That was the worst 3 1/2 years of my life. He had become so controlling, and manipulating. I really thought it was love. I did things such as driving him around, did all his work, and the unthinkable get a tattoo. He wanted to know my whereabouts at all times. He didn't want me talking to his football peers. We fought but it wasn't never really violent. One thing he knew about me was I wasn't taking too much of his s--t! He knew my family was just as crazy as he. So I guess that's why it didn't get very violent. We fussed and we fought even in front of his deceased mother. She knew how Rick was. She knew he had a damn problem. She even told me he acts just like his father. So as you can see it's a generational curse. Even after I broke it off with him in 1997 he still tried to contact me. I was dating a guy in '99 he saw me at his apartment complex recognized my car and flatten all 4 of my tires. We had long been broken up. He called me a couple of mths ago inviting me to some fight he fighting in. I told him u called the wrong person. Anyway, I can go on and on with all the hell he put me through. I just want to take time out to say to Miss Tonya Major's family if you need me in any way I'm here. I cannot believe I've dated such a deranged lunatic. I really hope he finds peace with the Lord while being locked up. He's in the cage where he belongs. Maybe someone in that prison will put it on his a--. Again, my heart bleeds for Miss. Major I know she's in a better place. Much love to Little Kaleb too. As an educator, my heart bleeds for this little boy growing up.Both of his parents are gone--One is in heaven and the other one HELL!
I would really like to talk to my heart bleeds do you have an email address

It seem as though Ricky violence got more and more intense as the years went by from Opelousas Hight to SU and so on. I'm hoping what happen to Ms. Major's afford him a lifetime in jail. Louisiana law is very different that the rest of the world. Unfortunately, the charges I had brought against him dated back to 1997 and I'm sure how long the court will date back on his violence against women. But for some of the more recent events, I'm hoping and praying if any of you ladies are contacted you will be willing to testify against him. He does not belong on the streets to hurt anyone else who is not aware of his violent past. Does anyone know what happen to his younger brother "Jeremy"? I am praying he does not follow Ricky's example of domestic violence on women. The funeral for Ms. Major's is over but this situation is not close to being done. Please, continue praying for everyone involved (including the laundry list of women from the past)!

I would like to send my condolences to the Msjor fsmily. This has been a very difficult situation for me because unlike many of you, Ricky is my friend. Ricky and I were teammates at SU and we spent alot of time just talking about life. When I first heard of Ms Major's murder and the surrounding events, I sincerely hoped that Ricky was telling the truth. I truly hope that God will have mercy on all those affected by this tragic loss of life.

I hope you don't think this blog is a Ricky Hate site, but it is testimonies of the hurt he caused many people. I'm curious to know if you ever suggested that he seek help for his angry, violence, etc. I think we all hate to see another black fathers, husbands, friends in prison for a long time, but being a black woman does not mean we should be treated poorly by our partners. This is a cry out to the brothers who have anger management issues, seek help. I suggest older (positive) males in the community, coaches, church leaders, self help books or websites!

I knew Tonya and she was such a beautiful person. She could put on smile on anyone's face. She was a fun, beautiful, smart person with a promising future. I pray for her family and her baby boy. She loved him so much. Rest in Peace and I pray that your family sees justice.

I grew up in Opelousas and have known Ricky for a long time. My husband played high school football with him and I went to SU with him. I had an encounter with him at SU when he was aggressively hassling a young lady. She was very upset and begged for me to get Coach so and so. He looked at me and told me to go to class and that everything was OK. Well, I knew everything wasn't OK and I summoned for help. It just makes this situation so much more troubling that so many people had or have a story to tell and yet it wasn't enough to prevent further abuse or the murder of this child. Everybody talked about Ricky and his abusiveness and warned others. Ladies, life is to precious to be taken for granted and most importantly, we have to protect our children. God bless this child! I pray that justice will be done and that her family find peace and happiness in the child that she left behind.

I am very disturbed by the comments of my jaguar brothers posted earlier. However, I also had a personal relationship with Rickey and I found him to be loyal and trustworthy. I would hope that we not rush to judgement and adjudge him guilty before the facts become clear. It should be our duty to not pass judgement on someone's past to indicate guilt or innocence in such a tragic and unfortunate situation. As we are all aware several lives have been affected by this tradgedy. We must keep all of the families involved in our hearts and prayers.

I agree with you Georgia Finest! I'm just telling my personal testimony.Everything that was mention was straight fact, not fiction. That was only part of it. So I don't care how loyal and trustworthy he was to that last post before you. All I know how he was to me. Oh yeah, he started off exactly like trustworthy and loyal. Then he changed into mad dogg. Ms. Major's own family told her to leave him alone. He was very violent with her. Unfortunately, she met her demise by his hands. So again this is my TESTIMONY!! RIP Ms. Major!

EVERYONE HAS A STORY. EVERYONE HAS A PAST, BE IT GOOD OR BAD. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO PUT THEIR HANDS ON ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL... ESPECIALLY A MAN ON A WOMAN. I HAVE KNOW MR ARVIE FOR THE PAST 6 GOING ON 7 YEARS. I KNOW HIM WELL. I ALSO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW MS MAJOR FOR A WHILE. MY HEART REALLY GOES OUT TO HER FAMILY... ESPECIALLY HER SON. YES, RICKY ARVIE HAS ISSUES, BUT HE WOULD NEVER TAKE THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER OF HIS CHILD. YOU SEE, RICKY WAS REALLY JUST TURNING HIS LIFE AROUND. HE HTHINGSAD A GOOD JOB, HE TOOK CARE OF ALL OF HIS CHILDREN, AND HE WAS FIGHTING (MMA). SAD TO SAY THAT IT TOOK HIM 32 YEARS TO FINALLY START BEING A MAN, BUT I THANK GOD FOR THE CHANGES I SAW IN HIM. TO ALL THE WOMEN WHO HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIM IN THE PAST, AT LEAST YOU HAD THE STRENGTH TO LEAVE. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, HE DOES HAVE ISSUES, I HAVE MY OWN EXPERIENCES, SOME GOOD, SOME NOT SO GOOD. HE DID A LOT OF CHILDISH . RICKY LOVES HIS CHILDREN VERY MUCH. WE HAVE CHILDREN AND "HE" NEVER WANTED TO EVEN ARGUE IN FRONT OF THEM. HE WOULD LEAVE OR ASK ME TO LEAVE. I BELIEVE IN MY HEART THAT HE IS INNOCENT. I KNOW A LOT ABOUT HIS PAST. HEARD MORE STORIES THAN A FEW,BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM GUILTY. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING HE IS GUILTY AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THE FACTS OF THE CASE. YES, IT IS SO SAD THAT THIS HAPPENED, AND I PRAY THAT TRUE JUSTICE IS SERVED.

On January 24, 2007, over 6 years after being arrested for aggravated rape of a 10 year old and other serious crimes that were never bought to trial by District Attorney Earl Taylor, Tony Lindy murdered Jamie Landry and her unborn child at an Opelousas Motel by shooting her in the face with a 45 caliber handgun in front of her 4 month old son. Perhaps Jamie Landry’s family best expressed all of our concerns in an interview with KATC News Of Lafayette.
“He should have been behind bars - if he would have been behind bars Jamie could have been here to raise her kid,” says cousin Summer Hebert. Seventeen year old Jamie Landry’s family says they had no clue about her boyfriend, 30 year old Tony Lindy’s violent past.
“I didn’t know he had those kind if charges - especially the charges he had - rape - kidnapping,” says Landry’s sister, Joni. In 2000, Opelousas Police charged Lindy with raping a 10 year old. Two years later he was arrested for battery and kidnapping - when police say he stabbed a man five (5) times inside a home, the victim was found locked in a closet.

I have been reading alot of the different responses from many people all over the world about what happened to tonya. Tonya was my bestfriend and I'm her son's Godmother. Kaleb is a wonderful, blessed, intelligent child and he will always remember his mother. Tonya was a beautiful, well-educated woman. Tonya was not a child and it is tragic what happened to her but God has the final say in this situation. Yes it is curse on the men in the arvie family but Kaleb will be a man of God he will not follow in the foot steps of his father. If anyone want to be helpful try getting on your knees at night and cry out to God, try on be a prayer warrior for other women in abusive situations. Start taking actions to help prevent women from being abused.

It's obvious that he beat you a few times. How come every women who has ever had any dealing with this monster calls him insane but you are determined to announce him innocent. You should thank God every night that he spared your life. Tonya was a mother, a friend, a daughter, a co-worker and employee, a student and a woman who deserves to be able to raise her son and see him happy. Women like you is an insult to every women in the world. No. I was not in a relationship with this murderer but I did witness how violent he was. You are just to stupid to admit hes dangerous and crazy but imagine ur children growing without you. I pray for men like ricky and women like you "respect". How about you respect Tonya family and keep all ur comments and feeling to your damn self.
