Come on Joy Hampton.....let's be accurate with your information in this article about the Verdigris Police Department. This story was a very good article for Verdigris, showing how this town is trying to do their law enforcment the right way. But Ms. Hampton, in speaking about the Verdigris Chief, Barry Lamb, made a comment about him and his 2008 bid to be the sheriff of the county. She stated in the article, "Lamb seemed to lose interest in the sheriff's election........" Which lead him to Verdigris PD. And then she wrote, "Verdigris captured the abilities of seasoned sheriff investigator Darrin Hester who was also ready for change." The facts, which were ot reported by Ms. Hampton, were that Barry Lamb was sounded defeated, by Cole Butler, in the 2008 Republican primary for sheriff, which ended his bid to become the next sheriff. And Darrin Hester left the RCSO, after being taken out of his investigative position, by Scott Walton, and put on the RCSO graveyard shift, in patrol. Ms. Hampton...if you want to cover up facts about the RCSO...you are not doing a very good job....We are watching you very closely.

Nope.....Mr. Mallory was from Chelsea...might have once worked for the RCSO but wasn't working there in 2008. And....Mr. Hester, who was doing a good job as the chief investigator, where he had been for a number of years, was professionally attacked by the new sheriff and transfered to the graveyard shift on patrol. Kind of a funny transfer for a seasoned and experienced investigator, isn't it? Hester made the decision to leave because it was quite apparant that the sheriff wanted that to occur and there was no reason to stay on graveyard, for all of the obvious reasons. You must be good friends with Joy Hampton because you don't seem to have the true facts either!!

Looks like Verdigris got a very good deal when it came to experienced law enforcement personal, thanks to Sheriff Walton and his political supporters!! Barry Lamb...obviously the RCSO undersheriff that Walton's supported didn't want and caused him to leave. Darrin Hester...the seasoned and experienced RCSO chief investigator that Walton ran off for some crazy reason unknown to anyone......and I would now bet that with the ongoing internal war going on inside the RCSO, area law enforcment will quickly see somemore expericenced law enforcement officers looking for work.....at the expense of the citizens of Rogers County....come on 2012!!!!!! You can't get here soon enough for the next sheriff' election.

I heard that whenever the Sheriff has to actually go in to the Sheriffs office he refers to it as having to go tend the daycare....

No dout about it Walton sucks, however you have got to be kidding about the Hester comment? LOL, Hester seasoned? he was way to inexperienced to br Chief anything, heck he couldnt even tell the truth about anything and he damn sure couldnt work with any of his peers not even Bohls and He was only in Law Enforcment for 7 years.

Robert Mallory was a jailer and after leaving the SO he did run for Sheriff and DID beat Barry Lamb out for Sheriff.Barry did not lose interest in the Sheriff race. He lost out in the Primary. Far as Verdigris doing so well how come they had 12 graduate a reserve class and only one was for their Department? Sounds as if the citizens who pay taxes there are getting ripped off. They are constantly writing tickets for revenue, even as far as outside the town to the river in the construction zone.
Prather and Lamb are Cousins. Scott is connected by marriage to Lamb. Yeah they got their Andy Griffith for Verdigris, and Boss Hog for Rogers county, One big happy family circle ain't it?

Very interesting info.....didn't know about the family ties between Prather and Lamb....that does explain many things. Nepotism? Wonder if that applies to cousins? Walton and Lamb related by marriage....hmmmm......might be the reason that Lamb left and didn't hang around to work for/with Walton once he was in office. At any rate....just goes to show that there is always a story within a story.....The 2012 election can't come soon enough!

The fact is what was said in regards to the relationships between Prather, Lamb and Walton are true.....One would think that being the spokesperson for the RCSO you might be a bit more versed in responding to issues. Your manner of communication is very rude, uneducated and juvenile.....but we are very used to that type of behavior from you...

The fact is Prather is gone from public life....Barry Lamb seems to be very content with life as the Verdigris Police chief, and Scott Walton is in his third year as sheriff and has done a whole lot of nothing....It might be a very lonely campaign trail for Mr. Walton in 2012.

As far as Verdigris police dept.........between Darrin Hester and barry lamb the corruptiin in this department is aboutto end. Barry Lamb has been terminated from two othee police chief positiins due to corruption. Recently, several acts have been brought to this department and with the criminal acts that has been committed by one of their drinking buddies........ALL CHARGES AND FILES HAVE DISAPPEARED. The corruption involved with this department has gone on too long and I have spoken to these officers and I single handedly bring this to an end. I am contacting EVERY SINGLE NEWSMEDIA is the immediate 500 mile radius and I WILL expose this and am committed to seeing that this department is going to free of corruption. I do NOT care how long it takes or what it costs...... am ready and willing to do WHATEVER it takes to make this department stand accountable for their corrupt actions. I'm SUREthat other people have been done wrong by ths department and I invite you to make a stand and bring the corruption to a stop!!
THIS IS TO VERDIGRIS POLICE DEPARTMENT......BARRY LAMB AND DARRIN HESTER..........
I SAT AROUND AND GAVE YOU THE CHANCE TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND YOU COVERED UP A CRIME AND DIDNT FILE THE CHARGES. I AM HERE TO SAY WITHOUT A DOUBT........I WILL NOT LET YOU DO THE COMMUNITY THIS WAY ANY LONGER. MR. LAMB....WITH ALL DUE RESPECT.......VERDIGRIS WILL BE YOUR THIRD LOST JOB DUE TO YOUR CORRUPTION.......IF I NEVER ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING ELSE IN MY LIFE.....I WILL STOP YOU TWO FROM SWEEPING CRIMES UNDER THE RUG EVER AGAIN IN THIS COMMUNITY. YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO DO THE RIGHT THING......YOU CHOSE NOT TO.......I HOWEVER, WILL DO THE RIGHT THING EVEN IF I STAND ALONE!!!
YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELF.....AND HAD THE POWER TO CHANGE IT SO NOW........YOU BOTH CAN ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS.
if you have been swept uder the rug and done wrong by this police department....please contact me at [email protected]

Sincerely......of course--------

Well, I suspect I should get all bothered over a post like that, but to what end? I'll let folks of Verdigris judge for themselves.

I am curious about how I've been terminated from two other police chief positions, since Verdigris is my first go round as a police chief anywhere. Strange. Must have been a parallel universe or perhaps an alternate reality of some kind.

Along the same lines is the poster's comment about "drinking buddies"...perhaps this just a published attempt at vilification?

In any case, I am glad the poster is interested in police corruption. I also am concerned, an in my career have arrested officers who crossed the line.

However, I fail to see how using the news media, internet postings or similar smear tactics would bring any real resolution to an alleged corruption issue. I think most folks would simply perceive that as simply so much "noise" perhaps motivated by some sense of revenge, anger over a citation, a criminal case that was declined to be filed by prosecutors or something along those lines.

It seems the best place to settle a corruption issue that would bring results positive results would be in a Court of Law. I'd gladly address these issues in that venue. It seems to me that anything else is more of a crass attempt at defamation rather than else.

I had an interesting discussion on the phone this weekend with a person who was talking about what seemed to be this same case the post seems to allude to. The post is a little vague in regard to specifics, so it is hard to tell. In that discussion, certain differences were discussed regarding the criminal justice system in Oklahoma and Texas.

I worked in a county that adjoined Texas, and got to know and respect those Texas folks pretty well. The caller on the phone seemed to imply, for example, that in Texas, if daddy finds a boy in his daughter's bedroom, the justice system there would favor the boy's position over the dad's because the dad caused some property damage to the intruder's stuff while chasing the intruder off the dad's property. Based on the Texans I met, I have a hard time believing that would be the case.

Any Texas (or Ex-Texas) Dad's out there? Hypothetically, what would happen in Texas if you found a young man in your minor daughter's bedroom in the middle of the night without your knowledge? Would it make any difference if they had been told to stay away and then came back and did it again?

I'm curious, cause a man claiming to be a Texan has told me that arresting the dad would be called justice in Texas.

By the way, If I understand correctly the case to which the poster is referring, the files have not "disappeared". They are in the District Attorney's Office stamped "decline to file".

This is all very comical to me as I am a neighbor & have witnessed most all of this from closer than most realize. What is so unfortunate about all of it is that none of the so called "parents" understand that they are the biggest part of the problem. Law enforcememt is the least of this issue. What really is happening is a boy is crawling in a minor girl's window on a regular basis. The DA failed to file charges on the girl's father for beating on the truck of the boy as he was crawling into the father's house. I don't necessarily agree with the approach but can understand the emotion. Too bad that people don't realize that they need to take care of their own house before they throw rocks at others. This is the world we live in!

Hahaha...another neighbor here! It is so funny how the parents of the problem think that the local police department make their children break the law! This is great stuff! I know for fact that Barry & Darrin have tried to help both sides of this issue & nothing has helped. Hello??? Hey, if the distict attorney says "we can"t win" that should tell you something. Maybe you should try being a parent and teach your child about being respectful and acting like an adult. Both of these gentlemen have impeccable records & it cracks me up that anyone would attempt to smear their reputation. This is Barry's first tour of duty as a Chief so it is a fact that he has never been fired as a Chief. This stuff is great! The kid who is the culprit also doesn't even live in Verdigris! You can't make this up!

OPEN LETTER TO THE BOSS HOGG AND COOTER COUPL------ LIKE NOBODY KNOWS WHO YOU TWO ARE!! The comical part is that everybody on here is a cop but me.

Neither one of you two saw anything and neither of you did YOUR jobs corrwctly either. And......I can assure you both.....I made it a point to know what I know and I'm sure ill find even more.
I am certainly confident that more and more victims, other than the two that have contacted me, will emerge and the smoke and mirrors will be gone and the truth will stand alone.

Good day hogg and cooter!
( seriously tho.....the dukes of hazzard references is a lil much......shows no originality. And since I have nothing to hide......I don't HAVE TO BE A HOGG OR A COOTER......but y'all make a cute couple!

Oh.....and to hogg and the cooter couple. Let me ask you this.......why and how is a 16year old expected to be an adult when the actual adult isn't??? Its time for you two to get to bed.

Also........just for fun.....the 16year old was INVITED and i can ALSO prove this as well. As for impeccable service records????? That is a farce. Nobody has an impecable service record when the PROPER entites are not contacted per the LAW. We have a responsibility to uphold the law........not change it as we go!

Cooter and hogg.........you really should take a min and really think....I'm still not going away.......I'm going to get justice.
