There have always been serious accidents at the intersection of Furnace Road and Route 104. Within the past year or so, the DOT changed the signal there so that traffic could turn left without the use of a green arrow. In my opinion that was a foolish move considering the intersection was already accident prone to begin with.

What it comes down to is simple. Kids need to pay attention when they drive. Follow the rules of the road. If NYS pulled licenses after at fault accidents with injuries, there would be far less incompetent drivers on the rd

You are so right. That's one intersection I try to avoid if at all possible.
I wonder why the county saw fit to make that change? And given all the accidents that have occurred there, what will it take to change it back?

The county doesn't make the decisions for 104 it's a state road hence DOT is a state department. The County had nothing to do with it.

Suspending driver's licenses doesn't stop people from driving. It just puts more unlicensed drivers out on the road. Do you really think people stop driving just because their license is taken away? Obviously these people are not law-abiding folks or their license wouldn't be taken away in the first place. Get real.

Thanks for the correction. I hope they keep statistics on this intersection, maybe they will be convinced to restore the traffic signals.

I wish people like you would find something else to do rather than pick on people about where they live.

The reason it was changed was because I Lawyer on lake road who has a brother high up in the state DOT was sick and tired of waiting to make the turn with the arrow. So they changed those 2 intersections to make his life easier.

The only way it will get changed back is if someone dies...even then it may not change though.

This story sounds so familiar to me. Listen to this folks, the intersection of state rt. 96 and high st. heading north or the first entrance to east view mall did not have a green arrow to make a left turn going north or south. There were numerous m.v.a. and traffic fatalities there. I was at a town meeting one time when this subject came up and there was a D.O.T. spokesperson there. A person asked why there is not an arrow at this light and the D.O.T. spokes person responded by saying that we don't have enough data to install this. The person replied, you mean you don't have enough deaths yet. The place went silent with many people sitting on the bench with red faces. Needles to say the arrows were installed one week later.

One other thing, why does it take for someone to get hurt or killed before they take action?

It's too bad Wayne County is such a crime ridden and problematic county. Hopefully someday it will get better there. The educational system there is obviously very flawed.

The arrow won't be much good if it makes people sit and wait as ridiculously long as the one at County Line Road & 104 does. And then it doesn't even let all the people who were sitting and waiting for it get through, they have to wait for the next one. That's why people complain about it.
