When you visit the Monroe County site, it says the flu clinics are for ages 6 months to 24 year old. Here is says ages four to 24. I would like to know if I can get it for my 3 year old at one of these clinics.

Why post this unless it's available to EVERYONE? I think it's crazy that only certain people can get it. HELLO....everyone around me has been getting it. Young and old. Should I just lie and say I think I'm pregnant just so I can get one? Is that what they want?

Is high risk considered those who care for a child under 6 months or 24 months? This story says both.

In response to Prudence, WHEC might be confused with the Ontario County Swine Flu Clinic because they would only give it to ages 4 and over. I also looked at the MCPH website, and it confirms 6 months.

MUHAHAHAHA..... swine flu shots will probably do more damage than good in the long run or it will do little to stave off the flu. Big buzz about this from the government and hence the media because they WANT people worked up about this. My guess is some folks in government invested heavily in the companies that make and/or distribute the vaccine. Only conspiracy here I believe is they just want to make money and lots of it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the age bracket here is wrong. On the Monroe County Public Health website it states that RESIDENTS 6 MONTHS-24 YEARS ARE INCLUDED IN AT-RISK GROUP. Just didn't anybody missing out.

I'm a bit skeptical of a vaccine that was rushed through to get approval. What kind of studies were done on the long term effects of the vaccine? Who's to say that in 5 years all those that are getting the shots now won't develop some sort of unknown side effect? It makes me nervous, especially considering there are drugs that were studied for years, released to the public and NOW they are being pulled because of the dangers. Makes me nervous.

Okay. Point taken. Not everyone. My point in the post was that a large number of people I know have gotten the H1N1 flu already. I'm certainly not paranoid about this, I just wish they would make the shots available to everyone.

The people who are getting the shot now are not because they are high risk for getting it, but high risk for having complications from it. With a short supply, the vaccines have to first go to those who would be most likely to die from the illness.

The seasonal flu vaccine is "rushed" every year. There are no long term studies of something that changes every year.

Everything you put into your body has possible long term side effects. Look at the ingredient list of the crap people buy at Wegmans. There's no reason to freak out about the swine flu OR the vaccine.

I never said I was freaking out, just skeptical...avandia, heparin, paxil, hydroxycut, reglan, chantix, zyban, vioxx

ALL drugs that were okayed by the FDA and it was later determined that there were "problems" with them. That is what I was referring to.

Yeah, I don't "believe" in the seasonal flu vaccine either.

The D & C reported at 12:30pm there was a 6 hour wait at the Medley Center. This has to be the one of the top "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING: when they planned this. It's absolutely ridiculous. They had enough time to plan this properly and efficiently. Are these the same people that are supposed to advise us 'IN CASE OF AN ACTUAL EMERGENCY"? because if it is I'm REAL scared.

TV news reported at 12 noon that the Dome Center was empty & lots of shots left. C'mon out to the dome and stop at Brewsters on your way home. Ice Cream will take the hurt away.

I can't speak for the other clinics, but the Penfield location was executed VERY POORLY. People were made to wait outside in the rain with temps in the 40's for 2 to 3 hours just to get the registration paperwork and a ticket that would allow you to get the shot later. By the time you received your ticket you were told there was an estimated wait time of 4 HOURS just before you'd even be allowed inside the building.

One couple arrived at 9:30 AM and did not get vaccinated until 4:30 PM.... SEVEN HOURS!

They should have waited and done the clinic Saturday and Sunday and used the Penfield High School instead. There is a lot more available parking, plus they could've registered people in the gymnasium and administered the shots in the cafeteria.

Poor job on this one!
