Burchfield Girl's Basketball Team

Who is the man coaching the Girl's team @ Burchfield? Oneida really put a whooping on them tonight.

its bert newport and he is probably the best coach in the county ms or hs, but if you dont have the talent to show what kind of coach you are its really a lost cause.. burchfield looked like a young junior pro team they scored 2 points in a whole 24 minute game thats not the coaches fault he cant shoot the ball for the girls..

Bert Newport is the assistant coach and does an awesome job at coaching them. Those girls placed number 1 during the summer. for some reason they just wasn't with it tonight. They have some really good players on there and as a parent of one of they players I would appreciate it if you all would let the kids be kids and not get on here and put them down. Dont you think they got enough peer pressure on them the way it is. By the way, congratulations to the ONEIDA players. You all played a good game and showed good sportsmanship to our teams. Good Luck this year!! Keep up the good work!!

Being a parent of a Lady Indian, I just want to say to all the Burchfield Players Keep on Keeping on! Hang in there! I know several of the young ladies that play for Burchfield and I am friends with their parents. All of you are good players! Don't let some "topix" or anyone's comment get your head down you are a good team!! I have watched several Burchfield games and last night the game wasn't there. I don't know what happened but girls keep pushing forward! This is just a stepping stone to make you better!!!

Burt Newport is a great coach! He has turned Burchfield's team around. Last night shouldn't be a reflection on him at all. It will be a different story come January when there is another chance for Burchfield to show their talent!!

Thanks you, we show support to each team that walks on our court! I agree with your comments above. Burchfield is a good team! They need encouragement and support not for someone to put them down.

Yes Burchfield is a good team,and have good coaches i watch all their games and they had won their last 2 games.I do not understand why they were playing Oneida,are they in the same district line up,if so does all the county teams play Oneida?

What is your problem? Do you not have anything better to do with your life than to get on a forum and try to cause trouble. This is middle school kids for god's sake. First and foremost, it says alot for kids to get out there and play. Second, it says alot for Kate and Burt to devote their time to these kids. I'm sure they could find other things to do with their time but they apparently BELIEVE and CARE about these girls!!! There is only one team that can win and no one can win them all.Every team has good nights and and every team has off nights. This just happened to be an off night for Burchfield, however, this does not in anyway reflect how
bad the team or coaches are.Burchfield has won and lost just like Oneida has won and lost.It says alot for Burchfield to be the ONLY county school to play Oneida. HMMMM!!!!! Wonder why that is? Maybe because these girls just love to play regardless of their competition. Perhaps, they felt the competition would help better their game. Both teams have loads of talent and what would help is if youwould stop trying to stir up crap and instead give words of ENCOURAGEMENT!!We all live in the same county- we should be proud of all the kids, regardless of what the score was at a BASKETBALL GAME. So next time, why don't you try building people up instead of trying to tear them down!!!

I think the girls have talent, they just need to be "COACHED" to use it. For some reason they couldn't make a basket. Yeah, your right, Bert can't shoot the ball for them but he should have taught them how to make a shot. Our girls practice plays and drills during warm-ups instead of running sprints, sliding around the court and slapping hands. I hope you keep the "BEST" coach at Burchfield! All of you who think he is the best coach in the county, that was best laugh I have had for a while. The girls deserve better than that.

Did you miss the part that they came in 1st place this summer? Now how was that if they have never been coached? Or perhaps you haven't been at their other games where they have been scoring 20 and 30 points. So obvisouly they can shoot the ball. I hardly believe that few minutes of warm-up is going to win or lose the game for a team. The girls on the team love him and Kate and I am so thankful that my daughter has them for a coach rather than someone like you that is so pathetic that they have to come on a forum to try and belittle someone. I honestly hope that you are not a grown adult pulling something this immature. If you have a problem or an opinion about him - take it to him. I'm sure he would be glad to hear you out. Apparently, drills and plays help to win a game don't they. I had a conversation with a couple of parents from your "TEAM" at Wal-mart tonight. Everyone is not as impressed with the coaching staff as you are. Let's look at last night's game. In warm-ups only the 8th grade starters were allowed to shoot while the rest had to rebound for them. Now that is what I call team work!LOL. I was humilated for them. Then by halftime 0 to 9. End of 3rd - 0 to 25. Your Bench comes in and we only scored 6 points the whole quarter and at least they made 2 points for your team. The whole game, the only play I witnessed was "STACK" Get real, nobody wanted him to coach at any of the other schools and somehow you got stuck with him! Ha! Ha! Burchfield can keep their Head coach Bert Newport. I just feel sorry for their girls.

sounds like "i have noticed" just has a personal problem with burt. obviously don't know anything about basketball. maybe one of those parents whose kids don't get much playing time due to lack of effort

burt has lead us along way and we have impoved so much yeah oneidas game we didnt play are best but oh well we came out of the game with our heads held high im thankful to have burt he not only displines us if we do soemthin wrong he corrects us and helps us and I LOVE HIM AND MRS KATE dearly!!! they are the best coaches in the world and looks like some ppl our jealous cuz we got the good coach so HAHA we got him to bad and some angry parents all of us girls hustled that is the best we can do and if u dont like it dont watch us play CYA

I have a daughter who gets to play on the team and I agree that there are times that I feel bad for the girls on the bench. Everyone of the girls practice hard together and should get a chance. When the team fails, the bench girls still have to run the punishment laps along with my daughter and the rest of the girls who got to play. Maybe someone on the outside looking in has a better view of what is happening than someone standing on the floor. I am glad my daughter gets to play and I feel like she deserves it. But I don't think lack of effort should be an excuse to leave the others sitting. They need something to look forward to instead of being watergirls. I noticed the warm-up mentioned and I felt sick when I saw them being treated like that. They all have to be pulled together as a team not seperated into the good players and non-efforts. I have only seen lack of experience, not lack of effort.

maybe _____I have notice_____ needs to notice the past years without Burt Newport. They would always end up in 4th or 5th place at the end of the season. With that being said I think that there has been a big improvment. Dont you think? If you know so much about basketball, why aint you a coaching? I am sure I know the answer to that question. Noone wants someone with your attitude to coach their kids and you are jealous. huh another question, Why dont you put your name on here? Afraid you will get RAMMED by the RAMS. lol

Regardless of what any jealous people say, burchfield has excelled so much in our sports, NO we were not brought up as students to think/act like we are the BEST. We wait until we PROVE it! Then gloat about it. We don't just assume we're gonna win. On the other hand, Burt is a good coach, despite any one who says different. What difference are you trying to make by saying Burt isn't a good coach. Because he certainly is.

Wow! You have really blown all of this way out of proportion. Or maybe someone has had their toes stepped on. Both of my daughters play ball, my son plays in college and I played college ball. Yes, I know basketball! Who says I haven't coached ball? I just stated what I saw last night. I don't have a puppy in your dog fight. I am only thankful that Oneida turned him away from his coaching offer. I admire you all for standing up for your girls and coaches. Maybe he is one of the better coach your school has seen in a while. But there is no way he is the best in the county.

Thats why they have B team games. Not all of the girls get to play. There can only be five players on the floor and in order to win the coaches have to play the ones they think can get the job done. I do believe that all the girls got to play in the last game. So I guess the coaches get it if they win and dont play all the players or lose and play all the players. which is better? Win or Lose That just goes to show, no matter how hard you try, you cant please everybody.

Proud parent, from what I have heard from our girls, they do not have a B-team. I witnessed a parent asking if our b-team was going to play, to one of our girls at the Fairview game and she was told we don't have a b-team this year. Our girls all got to play b-team games in the previous years. What is up with that? I agree that things have gotten out of hand on here. It isn't enough if some of the parents are upset but when another school tells us our faults, maybe we should listen. Lets think about what they are trying to tell us. I'm glad to see my daughter and your daughter out there playing each time. I see the other side too.
