This is a video of the Battle Of Midway. Scott County had many people serve in the Navy and Marine Corp in World War II. I don`t know if any were in the Battle Of Midway but some may have been.

God bless those who died for me regardless of faithe. They made a sacrafice that we can only pretend to comprehend. Every time I see our flag I am reminded of the blood that was lost for me.

If it's my right, then shut the F@#k up & don't worry about it! Ha, LOL! The old vets that are left need to just die off so the govt will quit having to keeep them up anyway.

As nicely as possible..I think I detect a troll as I don't understand how anyone could joke about this. Yes it's your right that you would not have if those vets had not fought and died for you. You would be wearing a Nazi or Communist symbol and working your fingers to the bone in some work camp breaking rocks instead of playing on the computer.

Well I have nothing else to say but as long as you have that attitude I'm sure you will go far in life. I have an idea, if you don't like what the Vets did for you maybe we can find you a boat with a one way ticket to the nearest communist or socialist country of your choice. Maybe I could find a few Vets who would chip in for your ticket!

As for the food part I would wager to bet you are getting Govt. Assistance or Food Stamps or your Mommy and Daddy are supplying your silver spoon. Since I think your comments were to stir a reaction..this is the last time I will comment on your posts until you spend some time growing up and reflecting on your illiterate comments!

The reason I feel this way is because of the attitude of older vets. They feel like they can treat others however they want because they went through some crap a long time ago. They go on & on about how they did this or that and I need to kiss their ass for something they can't get over that had nothing to do with me. I used to respect them, but that respect is long gone. Even some Nazis were good people.

I don't need a ticket. I've worked hard for what I have and I enjoy the things I've earned. Like someone said, I have the right to be an ass if I want. Get over it!

It was yesterday, for some of them

Real easy to talk, when you didn't have to contribute to the cause,huh...

Likely you never had theirs

That's where we agree, to a point. People need to get off their asses and start earning what they need for their families. Stop the dopeheads, welfare junkies, & vets too. I can see a truely disabled vet needing some assistance, but 99% of them just want a free ride. Most of the young ones are queers now anyway.

And that's one point we seem to agree upon, if I read you right. I'd rather have that 99% go back and be prepared to bleed red than drip pus

Yes I would. In fact I am still involved with the military on a volunteer basis. I enjoyed it ,even when a lot of the country was against the military. I spent a lot of my career overseas in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. I did some in Alaska. I don`t expect any special treatment because I did it ,because a lot of people made a contribution to this country in and out of uniform. I do not consider myself a hero, and I mean that, lot of guys did things that took a lot more than I had in me to do. I consider myself very fortunate and lucky.

I knew SFC Bill Coffee, went to school with him, he had polio as a kid and would never had to go in the military, it was his choice. He volunteered for the army and chose Armour. He went to Vietnam and was killed in a night action in 1971. I have eye witness accounts that he was blown of his tank, whilke he was firing the .50 calibre machine gun and the enemy in the wire. Sonme oter guys with him were also killed. His loader, who now lives in Arizona, was badly burned and almost died. He drives a truck today and does not ask anybody for anything. He is glad he is alive. A close friend of mine contated all the guys who were with SFC Coffee the night he was killed. They all said he went down shooting. They aslo said he was a good platoon Sgt who took casre of them and looked out for their welfare. SFC Coffee did not get a medal for tis ,he did get the purple , which he deserved. He left behind a wife and kids. In my opinon he is a hero that Scott County should be proud of and I bet none of the people on this forum even knew about or what he did. I believe he is buried in the Litton Cemetery.

According to the platoon members the Lt. who was the platoon leaders was hidingf in his bunker during this attack, yet he got a decoration for organizing the team that rpeuled the attack. Accordong to the team mebers it was SFC Coffee who did this but several never knew what happened to him. He was not instantly killed but severly wounded and died later in the hospital in Vietnam. Even though he was severly wounded ,according to the team, SFC Coffee continued to direct the platoon and was reponsible for driving the enemy back.

I don`t think SFC Coffee ever got full credit or any credit for his actions that night. He is a hero in my book and Scott County should be proud of him.He was also my friend.

Lot of good men have been killed in the wars and several from Scott County, look at the names on the monument at Huntsville. Those were just ordinary guys who went to war and were kikked doing their duty. I knew the Neal Boys, grew up with them. All of them served, even though their brother was killed in World War II.

I posted the video because I thought it would be a good reminder of just how close things were at the time of the Battle Of Midway. I have studied that battle and luck was on our side, because if the enemy had sunk those carriers we didn`t have anything else between him and the US Coast. It took brains, courage and little luck to pull off the victory the US Navy did in that battle.

I m an old Vet. I still do volunteer work for the military. I live close to Beale AFB, Ca, a base with a strategic reconnaissance mission. I know a lot about what is going on in the world that the press don`t talk about. I also have friends in the Pacific, Korea and the PI, I read the news from that part of the world plus I get other reports about what is going on.

I hope they get the big problem that is building up there with China and their claims to the whole China Sea. If they don`t I hope you are between the age of 18 and 55, because if so and can breath and fog a mirror, you just may get your chance to be a Vet. If this blows up and it has every appearance and the ingredients to blow up we are going to be in a big war. Never fear, I will be in it, we all will.If I am called back up and I will be,I just hope your tired butt is assigned to my unit. I will make sure you get the physical conditioning ,training and close direction that it sounds like you will need, to prepare you to do your duty. I believe in lots of PT,in fact I do a regime of calisthenics followed by a 7 mile run four times a week in the foot hills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.I am still involved in military training and I take it real serious. Call me any thing you want to, I bet you can`t think up a name I have not been called.

Let`s just hope the high rollers get this worked out and the Chinese decide to give up their claim to the oil, sea lanes and fishing rights, plus the controls over the fibre optic cables that are under the ocean in this area that is part of the Internet. They say the are not give up on it and they blame the US for all the resistance they are getting from the other countries who occupy in the area they claim, which covers several thousand square miles of ocean. China says it belons to them and they are going to take it.I know what I am talking about. So we may get the chance to work togeathere , if so I am looking forward to it.

Hopefully things will resolve themselves with this issue, but if not maybe us vets can arrange for him to go through training with you..It would be interesting.

If it does not resolve itself we are going to have more on our mind than worrying about his tired butt but I am sure if not me some other experienced individual will make sure he is ready maybe not willing. At this time I volunteer work with the military and it does not amount to a lot, just to say I am involved. However if things heat up that will change.I work with some guys who have jobs that are stressful and they don`t get the right physical exercise and have trouble getting through their physical fitness test. To date the ones I have worked with have all made it. They are in jobs that are more computer involved ,work long hours inside buildings and don`t have the opportunity to get out in the open air and exercise their lungs. I work with them on that. we got a nice trail that runs through some rolling hills, so a run through that relieves the stress and readjust the attitude. I am learning a lot about people from doing this and one never gets too old to learn and a challenge is always good for an old timer, keeps me on my toes too. I am sure he make the right adjustments with some training a direction. Hew says he is a hard worker, so that will help.

I hope that Pacific situation is resolved because if not it will be the biggest threat or conflict we have had since WWII. The North Koreans have nukes and the missle capability to hit the US. The Chinese also have nukes and the subs that can deliver them. There is a Japanese Admiral who claims they are concealing them in undersea caves in this area they claim. He says that is why they are doing this. We cannot see them under water and in that area sonar doe not work well because of the ocean currents and under sea terrain. That is according to what I have heard, I am not a sonar technician so I don`t know.

Since 1941 we have fought three wars in the Pacific. Are we about to get into another one. China blames the US for trouble with Japan. Think I am blowing smoke. Check this out.

A war with China over this region means we are all in it not just the military. All of us want to or not. Think about it.
