That's huge if true. I've thought both might have to close due to lack of hospital facilities and docs available. So many burdens being foisted on the people of this county.

The Huntsville nursing home IS NOT shutting down. And as for the smell....the staff works very hard to keep it down and they do a really good job. You must have came in after someone had an accident. Accidents do happen.

I have been in several different nursing homes on several different occasions. The same ones have smelled every single time and the same ones have never smelled every single time. I think management makes a difference obviously.

Absolutely. I used to think all nursing homes smelled that way, because I had never visited any others. Now I know better. I have visited more than one outside of Scott County, and none of them had the odor that these do. It's a shame that the people here have to live in these conditions. Management absolutely makes the difference.

I don't think so. It smells this way 24-hours a day. I'm sure the staff does everything they are taught to do, but that's not enough. Management needs to look at the good nursing homes to see what they are doing and learn some lessons. Unfortunely, they are not willing to invest the money needed to improve current conditions. The smell was so bad when I visited that I wondered how they kept the place open, because I have no idea how they pass inspection.

There will be some changes made in the very near future. Maybe in the management, maybe in the employees, but changes are on the way.

Try going on the days when the nursing home is expecting visitors from the state and etc.You will see how it can look and smell lots better.

The nursing home does not always smell. I go and visit a friend there several times a week. Sometimes it is bad but for the most part, it is ok. Oneida nursing home is the same way. Just like someone else said, ACCIDENTS DO HAPPEN!

Sounds as though you may be employed there and maybe sticking up for your buddies.

If any body has anybody in this nursing home, I heard today that several have been there this week complaining about the care of their loved ones. If you will call the TBI, and tell them your complaints you will get a lot more done. I was over there today, and I was told, by an employee, that the TBI are investigating huntsville nursing home. Changes are coming.

I visited a loved one for two weeks straight. It smelled bad every day every time. They need to learn how to clean up after accidents and do it every accident. Not just once a shift. But in the staffs defense, they are usually under staffed and that falls back on management.

I do have a big nose and a "fat ass" as you so politely put it. But as for the nursing we ALL work very hard to keep the facility clean and kept. The difference between Huntsville Manor and most other nursing homes is that we CARE AND LOVE our residents. We know our residents' families and we openly communicate with our residents and families. To those of us that work there the residents and their families are our family too. As for the odor....our house keeping staff works VERY HARD to keep the facility up to par. Sometimes things happen that can't be controlled. But then again if you have ever taken care of anyone with illness you would know this. Have a bless day

Yes, they love their residents so much, they let them lay there and holler for hours at a time. As far as openly working with families, that is a damn lie. They do all they can to cover up accidents, and never let the families know. They complain, that they are under staffed, bull shit. If the ones that are there would do their job, instead of half assed, it could be cleaner, and smell better. Some of the workers, are nothing but theifs, steal from one resident, and give their clothes to others. How do I know?, I have family there, and they are treated like shit. If you go and complain, it's the same ole shit. Lie after lie. ginger knows this, and helps cover it up. I am talking as one that knows for a fact what is going on, and can't get shit done about it. The administer, needs her ass sent home, and get someone that knows what they are doing.

Facts: Ginger is not the administrator of the nursing home.
Got a complaint take it to the administrator.
If you are not satisfied with how a family member is treated or how something is going at the nursing home, you have two options: 1.Take it to the administrator and follow up on it to make sure soemthing is done about it or 2. you can always find another nursing home to take your family member. Huntsville is not the only facility in this area.
Ginger's selling page is not actually her's. She does do the work and for no pay. All money raised goes to help missionaries in the field. It is her ministry the help with God's work. Everything she posts is donated. Nothing is taken from anyone.
