In stories handed down thru the generations, I was told Jesse James and some of his gang were "hid out" in Scott County from time to time. Several stories: One was Jesse James swung by his arms from the chandelier at the old Keen Hotel near the jail (wheeeee) one time. That's where the library now sits, and I know someone who has kept that chandelier when they tore down the place. One was he was hid out in the top floor of Judge Potter's house for a while by the judge (now Four Oaks Funeral Home); and sometimes people hid them and their horses up in the Buffalo and Norma areas off and on. I never heard nothin about any money being found, but who knows?! Maybe that's why the Potters are doing so well!

I think I was told about that store as well, but can't remember the details now. Also, apparently we have quite a few current "outlaws" this day and time hanging out in Scott County...or its jail! Maybe it's a history repeat...or genetic? Wonder where that cave is? That'd be interesting to see!
