any business in Straight Fork would most likely succeed as long as it isn't another gas station. A good car wash with machines that actually work, or chain restaurant would be better accepted than a bar. Noone one on this end of the county wants a bar in that neighbor hood. If by bar and grill you mean a nicer restaurant that could work. Best wishes.

There used to be Bert's Welcome Center at Straight Fork. There was gas/groceries/laundramat/resta urant. All were used there...community central. Then I don't know what happened, but Dr. Coffey bought it all, turned it into a clinic, then shut it down, then sold it or tax writeoff to the county. Then it became a Senior Center and a station for deputies I think. I don't know about now.

didn't know that must have been before my time... I thought about a laundry mat/restaurant without serving drinks as well.

My opinion something like applebees would be awesome. Tired of same old crap to eat. We need more businesses here. Open a good restaraunt drinks or not I will eat there. Went out of town to eat today ran into Scott Co. people. Happens alot. Good luck!

They used to be a laundry mat in Huntsville and it always stayed busy n if you was to do that with a restaurant beside it would be a great idea. I know when I was small n went to wash cloths with my mom the jukebox and snack machines where where my attention was. Kids have their ways of getting money for food n drinks when having to wait any amount of time in a certain place. I live in straight fork n would love a new place to go out to eat at and drinks would be a nice option to have as well. Only my opinion but alot of people like to drink now n then in this area. I think you would do very well with a bar n grill n maybe a karaoke night or 2 might be something to think about also. I'd be a regular customer. Good luck. Hope to see something like that around here.

Buy a McDonalds franchise! There's a whole slew of old people in the First District who go to DJ's every morning & all through out the day, for breakfast & to socialize. In my opinion, that would go over better than anything else you could do. The old Rector's store building would be a great place for a Subway. I seriously doubt a laundromat would make it there. Most people have their own washer & dryer these days. A laundromat would end up being trashed by ignorant people. The First District is a prime spot in the county for new growth. You know how popular Sevierville/Pigeon Forge is as the gateway to Gatlinburg & the Smokey Mtns? I can assure you this would be a successful gateway to the Big South Fork NRRA! Oh, and Pigeon Forge was a dry city until just lately, and there is still a lot of up-roar by the citizens about the sell of liquor by the drink. If you wanna make a lot of money...just-do-it!

Alot of alcoholics in that area. Just hang out around fastlane on Friday n Saturdays see how much beer they go through. I'd lay money bar n grill would do great.
