I don`t know how other liberal thinking people who live in rual areas feel but I feel left out and shunned in my community. I did support President Obama and still do. I think he will be good for America, but the people in my community are all Republicans and my state voted for McCain.

Lot of people who I have known for a long time have stopped speaking to me and some have called me names and make nasty comments to me about my views. Has any one there expereienced this if they voted for and supported Obama? I know Tennessee is a red state. Most rual backward states are red. Just like mine. What can we do? Are they changing in your community? They are not here. I might just move to Omaha, but the taxes are high there and they have a lot of crime. That is why I moved here several years ago. Any ideas on how we can get them to accept the reality Obama is the president?

Education is the answer. Indeed it is. When we get a standard couse of study in all the schools with correct emphasis on accurate history we can then implement change. More understanding of homosexuality and sexuality in general will help. Many of these lower functioning areas are sexually supressed.Women`s sexuality and freedom is denied. More birth control information at an early age.

Correct economic theory taught. The purpose of the economy is to enhance the ability of the masses not the few who have devloped the means to swindle the working majority. When we teach people to serve others instead of themselves and expect only what they need not what they want will we see real change. Some can naturaly produce more than others, but all should share and share alike for the greater good of all. Then this type of attitude will disaapear.

Liberals in the rual areas neeed to just keep up the good work .

If it gets too hard for you come to California, we have programs in place to help people who are newly arrived in the state. We have also pushed the conservatives back into the foothills and other out of the way places. Yes indeed we will not let them regain a foot hold here. The country side is a problem here as well. They are slow to change and insist on holding progress in check.

I don`t travel much in the countryside, too many rednecks with guns. In the foot hills they are very close knit and wary of strangers, most carry a gun. So there is work to do all across the country. Indeed there is, but we will win.

Is that they way you describe following whoever pulls your chain? You might also do some research into the financial dynamics of the former Soviet Union

We can tell the differance between a man and a woman. No further explanations needed...

You've got no idea what you're even talking about...

Abstinence would solve so many problems like unwanted pregnancy, STD's. Living like a queer or an animal in heat won't

First off, the guy left out a letter. So stop being such an ass. This is great point for people to see. He comes with an approach where he asks people if they can open their minds a little bit. You come back calling him brain dead and slander our President. I did not approve of Bush, but did I call him a hillbilly pawn who believed everything Dick fed him? Not until now. Just stop being such a jerk, this guy has his opinions, you have yours. Just let it be.

Where did I do that?

I did about 60-70% of the time

And you learned this from who, some of the same liberals that were saying anything goes, when it worked out for them?

Typical of liberals not to expect a response or challenge to their claims...

Check out this article and read cjensen`s comments. He is a very vocal liberal but when confronted with facts he always responds with some kind of nonspecific garbage.

I doubt if rural people will ever accept the liberal philosophy. They live live in different worlds. That is my reason for believing Pelosi and company want to do as much as they can to destroy the rural economy.People in rural places are too independent for them. They want a dependent society.Destroy people`s livelihood and you destroy their way of life.

Astounding!
Did you remember that it was also the fulfilment of two years worth of planning, which put it back under Bill-boy Clinton's watch, and eight years after the first attempt on the WTC?

It is so easy to set up you liberals...

Try thinking with the head on your shoulders the next time. LOL!

This is very interesting. We are liberal and have some ideas about how that can be done. I think this community is better for us than Jamestown. The people seem warm and friendly. Religous and receptive. Looking forward to seeing the town and country side.

Looks like our kind of place.

we have worked hard in california to get the rural people to accept liberals. They usually will not.We are trying very hard.It is hard for a liberal to locate and live in the small towns. When you try and show them a better way they get mad and then nobody will talk to you or have anything to do with you. I know what the orignator of this thread means.

They only care about their crops and church. You can get arrested easy for just smoking a joint or having a little recreational fun.It is hard.

I just say good luck.

OMG. I think that the biggest bunch of hippocrites live here. I think in the Bible it says not to judge and for people claiming to be such good christians, you sure do a lot of what the Bible says not to do. Sheesh. Live and let live. If Jesus acted like that, no wonder they crucified him.

Who cares if southerners accept liberals? Its not like anything really important to the government is in the south anyway. Well, except for the Centers For Disease Control in Atlanta. Coincidence? I think not.

I don't think people's personal political beliefs are anything to fight about. I consider myself more moderate, leaning to a conservative direction. But hey, if you're a liberal and or a democrat? Good for you. We're all still just people. You don't need a political party to love your neighbor or do the right thing.

If they want to be accepted, they need to stop being so condescending and stop treating people that don't agree with them like they aren't human.

comments like this are exactly why liberals aren't accepted. this particular person decides he/she wants to put down everyone in the south. how judgemental is that? this forum is about rural people judging liberals but look at this. and for your information there are plenty things important to the government in the south, they are called people and people=votes. and yes we are people. i may not walk around high and mighty ordering my starbucks every morning and playing with my blackberry all day but i'm just as good as you. if you think otherwise, i pity you.i love the south and i'm sorry you don't. our way of life is genuine and honest-you should try it some time.i know a little about life and i happen to enjoy mine. right here where i'm at.. in the woods, on the mountain, and at the river..in the south.
