I know what would quickly settle this. Maybe TVA or whomever owns all the mountain property, should take back the property and shut Brimstone Recreation down. That would be the best thing that could happen for Scott County.

Lime Lumber has title to all the Brimstone property. In the purchase agreement from the prior owner, TWRA has control of all the surface recreational activities on the property. TWRA has leased a portion to Brimstone Recreation, LLC., as the operator of the ATV park.

You no you can not let the truth be known Let the people run there business the way they want and enjoy what has been provided for use. Until it is your money and you are running the place you really have nothing to say at all. It is called freedom. Also for the person saying Trails End has never blocked anything Guess the concrete barriers put across the parking area at trail 3 was just something I dreamed People get the facts straight this has been a on going thing between the 2 parties let them settle it.

TWRA Haas nothing to do with the use of Brimstone If they owned why does Brimstone have to have a shared trail agreement Come on people use your head and Lime sold the property to another company.

Not true... the New River unit is open. It used to be a part of the original Brimstone. The Current Brimstone lease is a portion of the New River Unit of the WMA. The Brimstone Recreation lease is with TWRA. I for one, will petition TWRA to NOT renew the Brimstone Recreation lease.
That is absolutely false. TWRA purchased 25,000 acres of what used to be Brimstone and made it part of the WMA. The TWRA did NOT purchase the other 20,000 acres. TWRA does NOT lease the recreation rights of its property to private companies. If it did that would defeat the purpose of the state purchasing the land in the first place.

The 20,000 acres that Brimstone Recreation leases is owned by Lyme Timber Company, which originally owned the entire 45,000 acres but sold 25,000 acres to the state for the WMA and kept the other 20,000 acres.

On the 25,000 acres of what was once Brimstone that is now owned by the state, Lyme Timber has a lease on the timber rights (which will expire in about 6 more years), the old Brimstone Land Company (Baker/Swain) owns the mineral rights and TWRA owns the recreation rights. Brimstone Recreation permit holders are not allowed to ride on that property (the New River unit of the WMA) without a state permit.

On the 20,000 acres that weren't sold by the state, Lyme Timber owns the land and the timber rights, the old Brimstone Land Company owns the mineral rights and Brimstone Recreation leases the recreation rights. WMA permit holders cannot ride on it without a permit from Brimstone Recreation.

Brimstone Recreation land is owned by Lyme Timber, not the state of Tennessee. It is private property, period. And if Brimstone Recreation loses or gives up its lease on the property, it will become off-limits to everyone unless a company similar to Brimstone Recreation starts up.

Do ya think locals and all others alive have a problem with rules? Mental block on abiding by or aversion to em? Like all your life from when you are born...there are baby rules(no-no!), house/home rules, school rules, work rules, business rules, marriage rules, court rules, government rules, huntin and fishing rules, boatin and campin rules, driving rules, all sports rules, hospital rules, tax rules, bankin rules, church rules, mortgage rules, return rules, payment rules, on and on, all the way to burial and estate rules. Maybe it gets to OVERLOAD somewhere along the way...toooo much information or toooo many rules to keep up with...so people cop out, rebel, quit, or don't do the right thing. Oh...forgot the BIG ONE...THE GOLDEN RULE. Everybody on all sides need to do that one.

The town of Huntsville has passed a resolution stating that during the two events each year, Brimstone is the only one who can set up withing the town of Huntsville. Brimstone can allow someone to set up under them but Brimstone has the right to choose who does. The reason is that since Trails End doesnt allow Brimstone to do their booking at a rate of 17% of everything they make anymore, they were telling everyone that asked for trails end that nothing was avail there. never mentioning they do their own booking now. Trails end only set up there to let people know they did have spaces avail for rent. Brimstone could no longer lie about it so now the town of Huntsville is trying to help Brimstone out with that.

Tell me, if I decide I want to go to Dollywood for some fun, but want to stay in Gatlinburg for food/drink, or camp out in the Smokies, or book a place in Sevierville to shop, does Dollywood get a kickback from that or total exclusive? Do I have to go through Dollywood to book everything I do surrounding it, or can I just buy tickets to go there, and do other things as I please? I'm sure Dollywood has some special package deals, like Disney World, but it's not a "my way or the highway" thing either place. Then again, I don't think Mark Love did the legal work on this either. But even Dollywood and Disney World have house rules, as does the Great Smokey Mtns, BSF, and even Harrow's Casino. Just sayin.

I bet whoever Mr. Love answers too will not be pleased at the loss in revenue this new rules will have, the boycott has gone viral, google brimstone boycott and see page after page of different off roading forums talking about it coast to coast, tonight on channel 10 of Knoxville it will be reviled to who knows how many thousands of people. There is even calls into the anti trust division of the TN. attorney Generals office. Someone will have to eat a lot of crow to get this monster off brimstones back!

That was a situation where Brimstone was going to re rout trail 3 and Trails end owns the land and did not want two entrances crossing their property. Brimstone had started this without asking and those barriers were ther for less than 1 hour. After Mr. Howard had made it clear he didnt want a second entrance across his property. Plus, he only blocked the area where they were dozing, he did not block trail 3.

This should be an issue between the parties, not a viral facebook or boycott or whatever. Everybody else should just plan to come have a good time whichever way it goes. Apparently, a lot of big egos and legal/property issues goin on...and riding your ATV and campin out is not the exact problem. Of course, trespassing by riders or others can be.

the only people that are going to get hurt are the local people, the local businesses, and the local economy. i cant figured out how people like this even get elected. let alone run something thats so important to the local economy. the people need to vote the politicians out the next go around. or have the people that run the hatfield /mcoy trails come show them how to run a trail system. it seems love and his bunch are trying to line their pockets even more than they do now, but i think most of the damage is yet to come. and tens of thousands of dollars will be spend else where. how clear is that!!!!!!!!!!

It seems that all anyone can do is blame Mark Maybe we should just blame all that are involved. There is two sides to this. Yes there has been trouble between the two businesses. But it is between them. I know for a fact that Mark has did a lot to help the community There is always a donation given to the fire departments and the rescue squads every year. Hey did you all forget Mark has partner in all this. All you ever hear from people in Scott County is how someone that has done good is a prick or something. If the people of Scott county would listen to both sides and get the truth I do believe you might be surpriced. Come on people wake up. Get the facts before you start running your mouth and I mean all the facts.
what little he donated would not even put a drop in the bucket on what he cost the county and the land owners around Brimstone. All he is doing is looking out for himself. He cares about no one else.He is a sorry excuse for a human being.

I don't care either way about what goes on with either company. What makes me mad is what happens on backroads like Bull Creek and Brimstone Road. All these ATV riders come in and ride the public roads like it's a trail, with no consideration or respect for the people that live there. They either run the roads like its a private race track or poke along sight seeing and stopping in the middle of the road suddenly in front of you to pull out their map to see where they're at, without the common courtesy of pulling over to let you by.They will run your driveway right by your house and when stopped will argue that it belongs to Brimstone Recreation and will demand to know where the trail goes. They ride in large groups till way late at night, stop in front of your house to have a conversstion while you're trying to sleep. Meet them on the road and they will start flashing hand signals at you and motion you to the side. Evidently we are supposed to kiss the ground they ride on for gracing us with their presence. When the law are called, what do we get..." OH, you just don't understand how much money they are bringing into the county."I guess we are supposed to be happy with that?... a few in the county get rich while those of us living in these areas get all the aggravation. For my part, and a lot of others feel the same way, we'd have a good laugh if they all rode into a huge hole. We would stand at the top and wave bye as they went down, with a big smile on our face.
