Why did Oneida Fire Department respond and put out a fire in the 7th District on Litton Road Monday morning? Who is in charge of the 7th District Fire Department anyways because I heard it thru the grapevine that the chief quit and moved to Kentucky. So who is the chief and if there is a chief why did he not respond to this fire and another thing I also heard it thru the grapevine that the only fire truck from 7th district that did respond was late to the scene and Oneida already had the fire put out because the person driving got lost and was seen going to Big Ridge Road instead of Litton Road.I dont know about everyone else but I think if Oneida is going to respond and put out all of 7th districts fires anyways (I heard this is not the first time)then Oneida should be in charge of the 7th District Fire Department altogether and permanently.

If I had a question like that I would go to, or CALL, the Oneida Chief or 7th District Chief and ask them. I sure wouldn't go on topix. Do you seriously expect to get a serious answer? Geesh.

Like I said before I heard the chief quit that is why I asked who is the chief.I would call them if I knew who they where. All I know is I live in the 7th district and hope I never have a fire because it is odvious that they do not have their act together enough to be trusted to put out a fire.

If I have a fire they will be the first ones I call because more than likely Oneida will be the department that responds anyway.I do want to thank them very much for helping us here in the 7th district.

Call the Town of Oneida for answers to these questions. Their fire dept. is located in the same place. Was it a house fire on Litton Road? Where exactly and whose?
really

That fire department dont have a cheif and the asst.cheif thinks hes a now it all so im glad oneida was called out to it and i wish oneida would take it over. Then maybe it will be ran right not the he said she said stuff in the fire department 7th district fire department is a joke they need new ppl in there somebody that will run it right. The cheif moved thats why he quiet for and they was going to put the captain and the secrtary out cause they took leave of absance from the department to work through things and plus there little girl was veery sick at that time. So I think they need a new cheif and the only one down there that is certified is Jeffery Watson so and they are just one or two that has there NEIMS 100,200,700,800 so there you go. I dont think they would have lost there captain or there secratary if it wasnt for the asst. cheif trying to over run the cheif at that time that department would have mebers if it wasnt for the asst. cheif running them off. They also need ppl that can find places to and drive for that matter so that maybe that what happened this morning wont happen again.
who cares

It is because litton road toward the end is split into 2 districts depending on what side of the road its on. and luckily it was the woods on fire not a home.

All of you voluntary fire fighters need to chill out--support each other--and quit bashing each other on topix. You are the only people who care about who is chief, assistant chief and so forth. Like a bunch of bald men fighting over a comb.

Totally agree fdaustralia. It says a lot about people's credibility when this is where they go to complain about something. Especially a VFD.

This whole thing sounds like someone that has been removed from 7th district fire department. Quit your complaining. The 7th district is doing just fine. All the fire departments are available to assist other departments when the need for more man power is required. You should all be thankful that we have people that will volunteer (That is no pay) to help safe you, your home, your property, etc. Grow up and work together and quit the finger pointing, name calling, and baby whining.

Yep, you hit it right on the nose. The original posts were from a disgruntled ex-volunteer. Probably got booted for their immaturity, which was well expressed in their posts.

In reply to the comments that I am a member or ex-member of the 7th district fire department.I have never been a volunteer of any fire department.I am a female and a mother and have great respect for firemen everywhere. What made me want to express my concerns about 7th district is because recently I went to several insurance companies to change my homeowners insurance and everywhere I went they told me that my homeowners insurance was going to double by the end of this year because of some kind of points rating they have that is connected to the fire departments and that because we are at a level 9 with a slow call response time at the 7th district fire department everyone in this district has higher insurance. In fact after informing one company of my address they told me thanks for your time but because of your level 9 status we cant help you here try somewhere else. This made me want to look a lot closer at our fire department and find out more of why it is the way it is.I keep my ears and eyes open to all information about 7th disrict now and since we live in such a small town it doesnt long to find out what I need to know.I do know this,if things dont get better there soon I may move me and my family into the oneida district just to feel safer and have a better chance of not loosing my home in a fire.

Forgive me if I don't shed a tear because you are threatening to move. I don't care. Move already. You have all this money that you can just up and move so go ahead. Some of us like where we live and are going to stay. And to make the record clear. I am not on any fire dept. I do live in the 7th district and have 2 other properties in the 7th district as well. So I do have an opinion. Don't like the way things are goin around here, either do something about them or MOVE ON as you have already said you are going to do. Bye!

Rather I move out of the district or not is not the main point at hand. The point is that all of what is left of the members of 7th district fire department needs to step down,I heard there are only 4-6 members that are able to respond to calls and that only two of them can drive the trucks legally,if this is true there are not enough people to go to calls left and they need to admit they are in over their heads and that they cant stay afloat anymore. They need to close the doors and let Oneida have it and as much of you haters out there do not like the comments Im making on here, you know its the truth. There really is not enough members left at that fire department for it to stay open and that is the Gods honest truth.I know it ,the citizens of the 7th district know it,and all you haters know it too.You just dont want to admit it.If this man Dereck is in charge like Ive heard he is then he needs to heed my advice and admit hes fighting a loosing battle against the fires in our district and shut the doors and hand the keys to Oneida. It is whats best for our disrict. This will be my last post on this matter.Over and out.

There will be some improvements to 7th District soon, but it will take time. Be patient. Also keep in mind, some of these guys, including the assistant chief have been doing this, AS A VOLUNTEER, for 10+ years. Not for the recognition, but the pure fact that they care about others and want to help and protect other peoples lives and property. Give them a break and acknowledge what they HAVE DONE and NOT what they haven't. Spend more time volunteering and maybe offering to help and less time complaining or making recommendations on topix. They're not hiding, just show up and help.

I agree with confused.7th district fire department sucks.I hear that the only one certified to be chief is Jeffrey watson; He would do a good job if some of his family would let him do it ,but until they get rid of the assistant chief this fire dept will never be able to function as a good fire dept.,I too am a homeowner in the 7th district who is concerned about what is going on too.Like the fire call everyone is talking about on litton rd,I was listening to my scanner that morning, when the call went out 7th district was dispatched first and 401 responded to the dispatch to get oneida in route for help with a tanker and manpower.Oneida was on the scene within a few minutes and had the fire put out.About 45 minutes later 7th district was on the scene.Had this been a bigger fire or a house fire it would not have been put out by 7th district because they cant seem to find the right address.Thank God for oneida fire dept.God Bless.

I hear that soon there will be changes.but the changes that need to be done is that Jeffrey Watson needs to be chief and the rest of his family does not need to be anything but firefighters. They need all new officers that are not watsons.
