Internet acting up again, it has not been a month we had a problem with slow speed.

Paying for 1.5 speed and getting about .35. How in the world do they get by with this type of service. Does anyone know how to go about reporting them to FCC?

Sick and tired of paying for service and not receiving it.

I agree with you about slow speed. I have had dial up that was faster.
It is so slow it's hard to do a speed test. It takes almost 15 minutes to download a 3 minute youtube video.

You sure your computers aren't just loaded down with spyware or have 25 programs running? I'll admit the "fastest" 1.5mb hasn't been "fast" compared to the rest of the world but I've had it for.years and ALWAYS got 1.4 or 1.5 any time I tested it. Maybe if you have the old copper DSL lines to your house the lines are old or full of noise.

It is not my computer. I am supposed to have the fiber optic line. When I checked my internet speed this morning it is back to 1.2 but it should be 1.5 and they haven't came to my home yet to tell me it is not my equipment. Usually when I call and complain in about 15 minutes the problem is fixed and then I get a phone call they want to come out and check my equipment. I don't think they know what they are doing.

A few years back the FCC cut a deal with a fellow named Howard, now ole Howard was a big man in Washington and he was also a big shot on the Board of HTC. Well, the next thing you know, ain't no competition allowed, HTC set all the rates that's allowed. No other competition can setup internet here, line based that is..call ole Comcast and ull hear, no better yet call the FCC, WEll I'm the best rapper around, that's why they call me Washington bound! Um chaka um! boom boom!

It's not my computer. I use a laptop and when I travel which is often, I have great speed. I only have the problem when I'm hooked to HTC. I believe it's because I'm 8 miles from town, No hope for fiber in the near future and there is no cable TV on this road to use comcast.

U miss the point. U can't get any other cable internet here due to that deal I was talking about. Wonder why Comcast offers cable here but not internet yet they have that same cable piped into your home that uses your TV. They offer everywhere else? Wonder why AT&T and other carriers like AOL can't offer you net here? Maybe call the FCC and see if you can get a license to open a cable internet company to compete with HTC and see if that's possible or if they shut that idea down. Read my post above. That's why your net sucks.

Hey Rapper, I was responding to Supernintendo about my computer. I get the same response about once a year that it's my computer.
I agree with you about HTC having a lock on the comm service here. If competition was allowed the customers would get the service they pay for. Corruption runs rampent in all forms of government. You have to give away your soul to be in it.

Yes, I totally agree. They will not improve our service unless they get some competition. They can charge sky high rates for broadband and only give us dial up speed. I bet if they ever get fiber they will put a lock on that speed also. If I could get Comcast I would go with them but they can't offer service in our region because of that deal. All we are left with is Youngs Wireless or Dish. I live to far out for Youngs. I have heard that Dish sucks worse than dial up cause it's constantly out and it takes to long to send return signal. I guess we are stuck paying the man for our dial up speed at x 2 the rates.

most places around the united states offer htc internet speeds free.

why do we have 2 separate internet bills anyways?

1 fee for internet the other fee for dsl they should be the same thing

My parents had their phone and tv service cancelled with Highland on the 13th of October and this month they a got a bill showing a credit of almost $90.00 and they were told they would not get their refund for 90 days which means in January. How can they get by with holding people's money for 90 days, their excuse they may have some long distances calls coming in. Since when are they that far behind on billing for long distance service. But if you request a cancellation they have up to 10 days to turn your service off, just another way of ripping you off.

I finally reached my limit with paying top dollar for dial up speeds, and put in an order for exede satellite Internet. It's a new product, supposed to be more reliable than past satellite Internet services with speeds comparable to cable. Also going to port my home phone number to Verizon's home phone connect service-$20 a month for unlimited local and long distance. Can't wait to kick HTC out of my house!

It isn't their billing. They are at the mercy of AT & T, Bell South, etc. They can't bill for long distance calls until they get them from the other service providers.

They have increased the water usage back to 2,000 gallons from 1,500. That will help a lot.

I'm moving to Oneida, Tn I've looked in on the internet providers in town and I've read peoples comments and since Hughes net offers there internet in Oneida I think I'll stay with them plus there offering the new Gen4 speeds up to 15 Mbps I'm gonna switch to that I have Hughes net now and I live way in the mountains and I like mine except one thing at times on youtube it takes it a few min to load not long and I'm guessing the new Gen4 will take care of that. If any of you do decide to get Hughes net would you please tell them you read this and I refered you and you will get an introductory price and $50.00 credit on your account and I will get $50.00 credit after your 30 days as a customer. My Name is Alma Brotherton. Thanks and Hughes net is great I think.. I can't wait to check out the Gen4 they have now the tech told me when I got Hughes net they was getting a new one and it was way faster than the one I was getting {which I do like} I said cool. I hope all goes good on your internet everyone. I think I'll stay with Hughes net since I've read all the comments..
