I friend of mine has been asking around about any local churches that are accepting of gays. I am a 43 year old gay man and I would love to start going to church here. I am not from here but my boyfriend is. I am from Knox County and I attended church regularly over there. My boyfriend says there aren't any accepting churches around here for gays and lesbians. I refuse to believe that.

Describe "accepting"? I would think that any church worthy of the direction it claims to receive from Christ would welcome anyone and everyone with open arms. Of course there are some sham churches that aren't worthy, but many are. Churches are institutions for the sinners and saints alike to receive instruction from God's word and worship Him.

But if you're asking whether any church here will accept the gay lifestyle, no, I don't think you'll find many, if any, that do. Most churches here are still fundamental enough to believe the Bible means what it says, shocking as that may be.

As long as you don't act like a couple of bitches no one will know you are gay . No if you are promoting the gay life style , you will not be accepted here in church or anywhere else . What you do in your own bedroom is no one's business but when you promote something that we don't believe ...you might want to keep your church in knoxville.

I've been looking for a church that handles gay snakes forever with no luck. If you find one, even if the snakes are just bi, maybe we can carpool. Let me know.

Why do gays even go to church? The Bible plainly speaks against them. Evidently they don't read the bible...If they did read it maybe they would make a turn around...Maybe.WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS,YOU CAN'T BE A CHRISTIAN AND BE A HOMOSEXUAL,according to the bible.Im done.

I would think you could follow the other 99.999% of the Bible and just disagree with that one part and still consider yourself a Christian.. but I'm no theologian.

Being a sinner is also against the Bible. How do you explain that? Your promoting hate, if your against something, pray for that person and yourself. There is so much hate in the world and mostly all of our problems stem from that. You can't change who someone else is, hating will only make your life more miserable.

There are lots of things that the Bible clearly speaks against and the people doing those things are in church every Sunday. Kick them all out and there won't be enough tithes to pay the light bill. Why does anyone who has been divorced go to church? Or anyone having sex outside of wedlock? Yes, homosexuality is a sin and I certainly don't approve of the lifestyle. Can someone be actively gay and be a true saved child of God? I'm not sure. But the better way to phrase that question is like this: can someone actively sin and be a true saved child of God? Because my bible, like yours, I'm sure, clearly says that sin is sin. And if blatantly ignoring God's word robs one of salvation, there are a lot of "Christians" in this world who aren't really. And that might include you and I.
