Tom has done so much for this community. He employs half the town, runs a successful business, donates to local charities and makes artwork for the community to enjoy. He even tried to better our parks with a new bandshell. What would the 4th of July parade be without him? I would vote for him for Mayor.

I agree Tom would make a good mayor, but I thought you had to be a resident of a town before you could run for mayor.Tom lives in Forest Township in Cheboygan county. He lives close to Onaway, but isn't a resident or registerd voter there.

Its possible Tom Moran would make a good mayor. That said just because your a great business man and supporter of the community, there is only so much any one can do as mayor.City government is goverened by strict laws as to what it can and cant do. There is only so much tax base there and he probably couldn't do any better than the current city commission. After all look at all they have done, restored the courthouse,a new sewer system,a new police dept,a new dpw,2 new plow trucks, the list goes on and on.

Why would we want Tom Moran as Mayor? Tom maybe a great negotiator for his business, not that I would ever work for him (to much dictarship and control issues), but that doesn't necessarily make a good mayor either. Team work is also very important, as well as knowing and living in your local community that you would be serving (Doesn't Tom own his business and live out side of the actual county of Presque Isle?)
Maybe he should consider running for Cheboygan CITY mayor instead of mayor for the city of Onaway in PRESQUE ISLE? And if you don't live in the city how can you vote as a city person? Let alone a mayor? Just my opinion!
But that's why this is here isn't it?!?!?!!

Fact is Tom Moran couldn't run for Mayor if he wanted to,unles he is willing to actually move into the city. You have to be a resident to run for office. It would kinda be like a citizen of a foreign country running for president.Go figure?

I view the poll itself as a slap in the face to gary wregglesworth, who has been serving as mayor of onaway for the past nine years.

Under Gary's watch, the City has secured millions of state and federal grant dollars, put in a sewer system, reconstructed miles of roads, restored its historic courthouse, upgraded facilities and equipment for its public works and police departments, torn down dozens of vacant buildings, invested millions into homes, and stabilized its finances. His list of accomplishments is a long one.

Put those accomplishments up against those of other smalltown mayors in Michigan and you might realize that instead of focusing on who should replace Gary as mayor, we should appreciate him for what he's done.

This is an unrealistic question.Simply put he can't.He isn't a resident. He lives near Onaway, not in Onaway. How about "Should he run for mayor of Rogers City?"

Exactly! He doesn't live in Onaway either, so he can no more serve as mayor of onaway than he can rogers city -- or flint, or grand rapids, or st. igance.

he should try to move the county line west about a mile like he tried to move the softball field. Then he would be eligible to run for mayor.

basically I dont think this question has anything to do with Tom Moran ya he is cool and all.All I hear is good things about him..But Onaway simply just needs someone to take leadership and make bold descions there.I was actually thinkink onaway still has that uh what railroad tracks why dont they convert that into a trolly/subway system between cheboygan/roger city up to mackinaw bam easy fix to get that side of the state operational year round I think its brilliant what does everyone else think?um seriously then onaway could bid for sum factories and with all that transportation business would follow and also boost the taxes in onaway to pay for it and leave shitty ass tower poor like it always is.and then we could tax roger city, cheboygan and take the very idea why there is a Mackinaw it was called progress
