A metal bit (bar) in a horse’s mouth can be very painful. How would you like to carry a heavy saddle and a heavy rider about a third of your body weight. Then would you be happy to have your head sharply jerked from side to side with the use of a painful metal bit in your mouth, while your groins and the sides of your abdomen are violently beaten with sticks and heavy boots in stirrups to make you jump over fences during show jumping trials, or run faster during polo matches, on racetracks or elsewhere. Horses die from heart attacks and other serious illnesses due to violence on the fields and tracks, and no-one seems to care or even notice the animal abuse.
If you had arthritis, pain in your limbs or pain in any other part of your body, a severe headache, dizziness, or were just extremely exhausted, you wouldn’t want anyone to force you to run around, or perform the heavy duties that the majority of horses are expected to do in this country.
It’s criminal the way riders beat their horses up with sticks, whips, boots and bits. You would be committing a criminal offence if you beat cats and dogs the way you assault horses.
People don’t love or respect horses if they’re riding them or making them carry things for you.
